A little frustrated. I get important calls, and sometimes if I know who is going to be calling me, before I get a chance to permit it, it bounces them right out. On top of it, I can only allow calls if they are added. I don't want to add everyone. I just want to be able to allow incoming calls I may recognize but not have added. I have missed go many important calls and had to apologize because "sorry, I have this app that declines every call". I pay for this frustration and may reconsider.
Reviews for Hiya: Spam Blocker & Caller ID
Great. Now they monetized an already broken system. Do not use this. BIG headache with the names. Very often it's wrong. Cannot trust it and missed many needed calls because it shows a wrong name. If it identifies an incoming call with the wrong name, all you can do is hit the "wrong name" link and just send feedback to Hiya about it. Pointless. It should save the name you set to the local device so at least it can be right for you locally. Wrong name feedback hasn't changed a single name yet.
Paid for the subscription version (may not be a free version) because I was tired of hearing about extended warrantees! ) but this app continues to block ANY call from a trunk line, not just spammers. As I work for a large organization that deals with the government agencies, this is problematic as I miss tons of calls!! Also not easy to figure out how to "whitelist" calls in real time so I may override the block. Very disappointed as when I previously used the app it seemed much easier.
Seemed a great app right up until it began nagging to pay for a premium account each call I get. So let's see if I got this right. They want US to provide caller information so THEY can turn around and charge us for it?! No. That's not how I roll. If you get something from me, I get something in return and that's not the bill... got that? No more free data for you until this changes. Can't choose not to have popup of caller, a annoying and the last straw for me.
Was great for the months I used it. Now every function is subscription based and without any warning? Nope, gonna join the mass exodus and uninstall. Had a good run! Also, you might want to edit your description, Hiya - "Hiya Call Block Security identifies the calls you want to take and blocks the numbers and texts you want to avoid. Hiya is free (no ads!), and is incredibly easy to use." LOL.
I had to find a substitute for my call blocker after years of use. This was one of the ones I picked, my bad. This app requested more permissions than other similar apps (imo) and that could have been tolerated. But, it then locked up features like automatically blocking known spam and nuisance numbers (a common and basic feature for other apps) to premium only. I'm out, and you should be too. There are plenty of less overtly greedy call blockers to choose from. Happy hunting.
Awful, simply awful. Before this last update it was quite useful, now it will be removed from my phone. Not only do I need to subscribe monthly or yearly for the service, I am constantly getting pop-ups saying "something went wrong, unable to process" each time I get a call. Don't waste your time, I'm sure there is a perfectly acceptable replacement out there.
Was great until they rolled out their subscription service. Individual caller-ID is no longer a part of their free service. Their spam blocker is hit or miss, so the caller ID was the biggest draw for this app. For the record, I don't mind paying for software, but I LOATHE subscription based models. Simply not worth it. I recommend everyone uninstall the app so that they don't continue to pull new numbers from your contacts to add to their database. Especially now that they sell that data.
This app was, at best, hit or miss in blocking junk callers while allowing calls from contacts through. Too many times a call would be "blocked" but really, it only keeps the phone from ringing, and when voice mail picked up, a message was left that would need to be dealt with. And now they want me to pay for that? Not happening. I am uninstalling this app because it's now as bad and the calls it says it blocks.
No longer useful. Premium fee for name of caller is beyond me. *We* know who's calling but if you want to know, you have to pay for it. Uninstalling, there's others that will identify the caller for free and without having to give contact permission. App uses contacts of users to identify the caller without paying the users to do so but want to charge users to provide the info gathered is double dipping.
