Description
I’ve been using Home Assistant for a couple months now. It’s basically a super powerful smart home platform that lets you connect and control all your devices from one app. Pretty solid if you’re into home automation and that kind of thing.
Here’s what you can do: you can connect your lights, plugs, cameras, thermostats, and tons of other smart home gadgets. There’s also voice control which is pretty cool. And you can set up automations – like having your lights dim when you start a movie. Took me a while to figure all that out but it’s really useful once you get it set up.
Look, if you’re into smart home tech and want something super flexible and privacy-focused, you’ll probably like this. It’s not perfect – the setup can be a bit complex at first – but overall it does the job really well. Worth checking out if you’re looking to take control of your home.
Editor Opinion
So here's my honest take on Home Assistant. I've tested a bunch of smart home apps and this one's by far the most powerful and flexible I've seen. The level of control and customization is seriously impressive. But it does have a bit of a learning curve - you'll need to put in some time to get everything set up just right. If you're willing to do that, though, it's a game-changer for managing your connected home. Not as user-friendly as something like Apple HomeKit, but way more powerful under the hood.
Pros & Cons

The hamburger menu won't close after being opened and I'm unable to interact with the app after that.
crashes if you add an integration. I spent all this time setting up a container and configuring things via web .... all for the app to crash
First release without any bugs. But i feel bit difficult to scroll at custom components. Except this, everything feels smooth. Edit: (Feb 2020) app opens fast, but after using/creating automation...
