The hamburger menu won't close after being opened and I'm unable to interact with the app after that.
Reviews for Home Assistant
← Back to Home AssistantThe only issue presented with this Home Assistant App was that it did not recognize that my HA Server is connected by wifi 7 network.. I simply looked up the IP address on my router changed the last 3 digits of the IP address on the connect screen. It then loaded in the blink of an eye.. No glitches nothing I'm happy with it.. Now about the PC version, I can't say that.. I would like to add that. I usually go with beta versions as a beta tester; however; With this App, no.
Amazing for free software. Not very user friendly, and definitely requires more advanced knowledge. Doesn't work perfectly and still not very happy about having to pay a subscription fee to access away from my home network but I suppose it costs money to provide that service... Although it would be possible to host on a raspberry pi and just not implemented
Great home integration software. steep learning curve. but worth it. takes home integration to the next level.
crashes if you add an integration. I spent all this time setting up a container and configuring things via web .... all for the app to crash
Enables you to have a single app to control all of your smart devices (and even the ones that you wouldn't mark as smart at the first glance)
First release without any bugs. But i feel bit difficult to scroll at custom components. Except this, everything feels smooth. Edit: (Feb 2020) app opens fast, but after using/creating automation editor, the screen getting very very slow and unable to save the automation with save floating button as it's not detecting. Edit: (2025) All issues are cleared and the app is so much matured and perfect in terms of features and functionality. It got too many features Android can possibly provide. ❤️
After some updates application started freezing. Sometimes it is on the logo screen, sometimes it is after logo screen with white background screen.
App is effectively unusable now. I've given up and use a shortcut to the web interface now. Despite emails and reddit posts about the problem, the app dev's just don't care. Such a shame as it makes the whole Home Assistant ecosystem look bad.
It has known, old bugs that waste battery and data in background. It does not work wan side when your server uses self signed https certificates.
Home Assistant is an amazing home automation platform. It is powerful and has quite a learning curve, but you won't look back once you start with it.
There's some weird formatting that overlays onto other elements in my mobile device. the card with graphs. i can share a ss but not sure where should i send.
Full screen is broken on Older Androids since this version (from aug 2025) Even if the Fullscreen setting in the companion's settings is on, it shows the space for the drawer and the android buttons (but nothing on them) Android 8, using an old phone to show home assistant dashboard
Won't log into my Home assistant Green. verified user name and password, but still getting rejected. Can see the failed login attempts on HA logs, so I know URL is correct.
an optional dialog box to choose a system to connect to would be great. The three finger swipe has to timeout and freezes trying to find the wrong instance before you can choose the correct one for your location.
The app makes a white blink every time when launching, which is irritating, especially when I use dark mode everywhere. I have two HA instances and this happens on both between the first progress circle and the logo HA. Not when switching between instances, only when launching the app.
I guess it's ok but why it starts after 5 attempts? I hope they fix it. edit: After 2 days I have to admin that the app is currently unusable, rarely even starts. This is quite essential for me so 1 star until it's fixed.
I had 4 or 5 apps to kind of automate my house. Bought a smart things hub which still wouldn't talk to all my devices. Both options tied me to the web. Home Assistant tied everything together and all the devices can interact. Best solution hands down and Great support.
From 4.5 to 1 star after last update. App does not start up 9 out of 10. And because of some app restarting???(like HA) after a while, the overall experience is even worse. So from working good to unusable. So please go give us the previous version (many Thanx if you/they do).
Home Assistant and it's developers work tirelessly to provide a way for devices from multiple brands to truly work together, and Home Assistant is by far the most polished yet customizable attempt so far. A lot of users leaving bad reviews don't seem to understand that this isn't (yet) meant to be a turnkey solution. It's a toolbox for the power user to tinker with their smart home and dial it in exactly the way they want it, which may require some work and light coding along the way.
