So here's my take on HomeWAV. I've tested a bunch of apps for staying in touch with inmates and this one's pretty solid. It's got all the core features you need - calling, messaging, video - and it's straightforward to use. The video quality could be better but it gets the job done. And the fees are reasonable, not crazy expensive like some other options. Definitely more convenient than traveling to the facility for visits. Not gonna lie, it does feel a little overpriced for what it is. But if you need a way to regularly talk to someone in jail, this is one of the better apps I've come across.

Pros

  • Tons of features like calls, video, messaging
  • Easy to set up and manage your account
  • Reasonably priced, don't have to buy set packages
  • Convenient alternative to in-person visits
  • Works well on both Android and iOS

Cons

  • Video quality can be hit or miss at times
  • Fees add up if you use it a lot
  • Interface feels a little dated and clunky
  • Not the cheapest option out there

Description

Been using HomeWAV for a couple months now. It’s basically an app that lets you connect with friends and family who are in detention facilities. Pretty solid if you’ve got loved ones locked up and want an easy way to stay in touch.

Here’s what you do: you can create a free account, add the facility and inmate you want to connect with, and then you can make phone calls, video calls, or send messages. There’s also a way to add funds and manage your account – pretty handy. Took me a bit to figure it all out but it’s not too complicated.

Look, if you’ve got someone in jail, you’ll probably find this app really useful. It’s not perfect – the video quality can be iffy sometimes and the fees add up if you’re using it a lot. But overall it does a good job of making it easy to stay connected. Worth checking out if that’s your situation.

Horrible and I work corrections. This is just a scam. Any money deposited either doesn't go to the right place or apparently is lost entirely. Then they gouge you for...
