So here's my honest take on HRV4Training. I've tested a bunch of health and fitness apps, and this one's pretty solid. The HRV tracking is really interesting and gives you a unique window into your body's response to different stressors. And i like that it goes beyond just the numbers and tries to give you real actionable insights. But it does have a bit of a learning curve, and the camera tracking can be hit or miss sometimes. Overall though, I'd say it's a worthwhile download if you want a deeper understanding of your health and fitness.

Pros

  • Tons of useful health insights beyond just HRV
  • Supports external sensors like the Oura ring
  • Free to use, don't have to pay for the basics
  • Looks great and runs smoothly on my phone
  • Helpful for tracking things like menstrual cycles

Cons

  • Camera-based HRV tracking can be finicky at times
  • Takes a while to figure out all the features
  • Some of the advanced insights are behind a paywall
  • Occasional ads can be annoying

Description

Been using HRV4Training for a couple months now. It’s basically an app that uses your phone’s camera to track your heart rate variability (HRV) – that’s a pretty good indicator of your overall health and fitness. The idea is to help you optimize your training and recovery by seeing how your body responds to things like workouts, stress, travel, etc.

Here’s what you do: you just open the app, place your finger on the camera, and it measures your HRV. There’s also a bunch of cool features like tracking your menstrual cycle and sleep quality. Took me a while to figure some of it out, but once you get the hang of it, it’s pretty useful.

Look, if you’re into fitness and health tracking, you’ll probably like this app. It’s not perfect – the camera-based tracking can be a bit finicky at times – but overall it does the job. Worth checking out if you want more insights into how your body is doing.
