Reviews for Hulu for Android TV

If I could give Hulu ZERO STARS I would. Hulu for Android app keeps dropping to the home screen of my Sony Bravia smart tv. I tried deleting the app, reinstalling, rebooting the TV, checked for updates, even rebooted my internet. Nothing works. For the past two hours I have been trying to watch a 36 minute episode of my soap. this has been maddening frustrating and ridiculous!!!!!!This app sucks!!!!

Just cancelled my Hulu subscription. I'm sure everyone got the price increase notice. I feel if they want more money they need to fix the worst app on the Google play store or go out of business. Unbelievable they want more money. This is the only app that constantly freezes almost impossible to watch anything stop and go. Hulu must scrap this app and a complete over haul needs to be done. If I were in charge of their technical department I would fire all of them.

I didn't take the rating seriously at first but after login it won't load any titles. The Android phone application works well, but they clearly haven't put any effort into the Android TV application. Use Disney+ to watch Hulu content if you have a bundle. Dealing with this app isn't worth the higher stream quality.

I pay for the ad free experience and in general, I can't complain about the service. However, for the last few hours or so, it's as if Hulu is down. Nothing is loading. It suggests a network error, yet, I'm connected. This is happening on my Nvidia Shield TV Pro, as well as my S10+ and my TCL Roku TV. EDIT: 14 hours later and Hulu is still not working. I just tried it through a browser, in desktop mode. The website and pages load. But, none of the videos will play. Blerg!

App is CONSTANTLY freezing and telling me there is a problem with what I’m trying to watch. It’s so annoying!! I’ve been trying to watch one episode for the last 2hrs. The show is only 22 mins long!!! 🤯 I don’t understand what is happening! When I watch Disney+ and use the beta version of Hulu there, I have no problems. In its current form (2/13/24) this app is garbage and useless!

Hulu was top of my list among all streaming platforms, but it has become the worst ever! I've had plenty frustrations, it's unbelievable! The only version that I'm able to open, has a poor user interface: doesn't give you access to episodes, you can't skip, fast forward or rewind current episodes.

I have the same issue with the MiBox S. I had the Android update. HULU became literally impossible to use (froze every 3 seconds) and that's not an exaggeration. I uninstalled it to see if I could fix the issue with a reinstall, and now I can't get it back. Please make the app compatible so we can reinstall the app. Why should I pay for HULU when I can't use it on my main devices. If it isn't fixed soon I will be cancelling my subscription, because this issue is one created by HULU, that shouldn't exist

In the past 2 months our Hulu app has crashed and brings up codes that we've never seen before. We usually are able to watch one TV show and once that TV show is done it has issues playing another episode of another TV show. It usually loads then says it's unable to load due to some kind of error code that is not related to internet connection. We pay too much money per month to be dealing with these kinds of streaming issues on this app and are now starting to consider whether it's worth it.

The app is almost a year old, doesn't support profiles, still uses the old UI, doesn't support HBO or other similar content, and has audo/video sync issues (even using Ethernet on a connection that is plenty fast enough to not need to buffer). Thankfully casting to the Android TV is supported, and the normal Android Hulu app works fairly well with Chromecast.

I am running this app on a TCL Android TV. This latest update crashes and causes the TV to reboot every time we use it. Also, the pause button no longer works. You have to use the play button to play/pause. The pause button works in all the other apps. The app borders on unusable. I don’t think I’ve been able to watch an entire episode of anything without at least one random reboot. This is the only app that crashes the TV.

Somehow the Android TV Hulu app only supports 2.0 audio, and cannot output Dolby Digital 5.1 at all. This is absurd, as older versions of the app for TiVo, Blu-Ray Players, Roku, and phones all support 5.1 streaming, even when casting to a Chromecast, but NOT in the stand alone Android app for Google TV. Please fix this, as I'd love to be able to watch content on our 4K TV in 5.1 surround sound, and right now the Hulu app is the lowest quality of any streaming service. Also lip sync issues.

Probably the worst among the streaming apps. Video frequently freezes and audio continues to play. It then needs to be rewound a few seconds but then it ends up happening again after few minutes. Many times, starting a new episode/movie will just bring up a black screen. That episode/movie becomes unplayable after this happens. This is irrespective of the internet speed. Very frustrating experience and seriously considering cancelling after my current subscription runs out.

Absolute garbage. - Can almost never 'resume'. Always starts from start with all the ads. - Very frequently shows playback error. For example, for last three days (I guess after last update), it cannot play anything. Nothing at all. Even before update this was a problem. And you guys wonder why we go for 'piracy'. I pay to support the creators, seems like they want to money, and donot deliver content. Nice! Will just cancel package.

Constantly freezes or loses connection for no reason. The TV is not 2ft from the router. Not a single problem with Netflix, Disney+, Max, Paramount, or Peacock. Hulu couldn't make a decent app to save it's life; it's seriously bad enough to make me want to cancel my subscription. If you haven't yet given them your money and this is the app you'll have to use, don't. This garbage app made me mad enough to type this all out using the arrow pad on my remote, punctuation and all.

Just ridiculously bad. It used to be stable and I used it constantly but I guess they did something to it and now it's non stop "Connection Error"s whenever you are watching something or even just browsing the menus. I have an exceptionally strong and fast connection and every other app works perfectly, just this one has become absolutely unusable. PS5 seems fine, but the android app? I finally got fed up and uninstalled.. avoid it like the plague.

Video quality is poor. Things often start with no picture at all or the sound isn't synced with the picture. It's gotten to the point where I'm legitimately surprised when something starts correctly the first time and doesn't take like five tries to get it started properly. Besides that, I've had the app randomly close in the middle of something several times. It's also told me I have no network connection when the speed test on the TV shows I clearly do. This is a mess Hulu. Your service isn't cheap. For what I pay I should get much better.

App refuses to load on any of my Android/Google TV's. All give error code 94. Have verified bandwidth on each TV that shows it would support up to 8K due to download speed and lags.... it is NOT the internet connection. Works on computer, phone, tablet, and pulled out the old Roku's and it works fine on those. Have Rebooted, unplugged, deleted the app and reinstalled. It just doesn't work on Android/Google TV. Whoever is developing needs to know that "bug fixes" does not mean creating new bugs.

Hulu constantly has bugs and errors that take forever to get fixed, only works half the time, shows/movies are frequently taken off, replaced or just simply do not work, and updates aren't usual. As much as I love the selection carried, this streaming service is overall just not a good purchase. In the time that I've spent paying for this platform to watch Hulu, I have spent more of it NOT being able to do so. To be honest, Netflix has done me better in the past for an even lower price so, I'll probably switch back to it once our subscription ends. In kindest regards, Lindsey Clemons.

I had very few issues Hulu on my TV (Philips smart TV) until recently. Now it will only play a couple minutes of a video and then the app crashes, sending my TV back to the home screen. Until this issue started, Hulu was my go-to streaming service. If this gets fixed, I would gladly change my rating. If it doesn't get fixed, I will find another streaming service.

If for any reason a program I am watching gets paused and I don't go back to it before it times out, I can't play it or anything else without getting an error. Then I have to uninstall the app, sign back in and hope it resets itself so I can watch programs again. I've just spent at least 20 minutes trying to get it to work and I'm still getting an error when trying to play something.
