I want Idagio to refund me my money as soon as possible. I was debited by the app after subscribing, but then I unsubstantiated. later on today, I was debited again, that twice in a month.
Reviews for IDAGIO Stream Classical Music
← Back to IDAGIO Stream Classical MusicClassical catalogue is comprehensive, well structured. Now adding some great jazz. App for me works perfectly. I would add that the lossless upgrade is well worth the extra. Even on quite modest equipment the difference is palpable.
So frustrating... I really value the content but this is the slowest app around. It also decides I'm not a subscriber if my internet connection drops out for a second, and won't reconnect without a restart. Albums that have been downloaded seem to disappear or don't appear in the downloads search. Content great... user experience poor.
Great collection, much better metadata for classical music than competitors and a great sound quality (better than Spotify) even with the cheapest plan. The app could be a bit improved: sometimes it's reacting slow (about 1 sec delay) and it's not always intuitive (e.g. when playing from a 'suggestion based on x'-playlist: how do I get back to this playlist? And when searching and then clicking a result to briefly view it, why is the search prompt cleared when going back?)
just plays the same stuff over and over again hard to build a playlist hard to use just too hard... it's also hard to find the music I want to play I'm looking for classical music over the last thousand years and to get that into a playlist but it's impossible to do that. it's really hard to find compositions as well. and customer service is terrible
From the description, it seems clear that lossless audio is included for the $9.99 per month, but it is not included. This is extremely misleading and led to me choosing this app over the competitor, Primephonic. In addition, when streaming an album, there is a significant delay between tracks. This is disruptive when tracks are intended to be continuous or transition smoothly. Otherwise, I absolutely love this app and it would easily get 5 stars. Love the search by instrument!
Absolutely a dream. A little rough around the edges perhaps, but a beautiful app to have lossless and high quality streaming of a large library of works right in your pocket. Subscribed lossless monthly even though my audio setup can't squeeze every last drop of the greatest audio quality that is lossless—I read the human ear will notice the difference even without a perfect lossless audio setup (typical CD song 50 Mb, mp3 of the same song 5 Mb, lossless file of the same song 30Mb—that's a lot lost to compression in the mp3).
Extensive library, organized in ways that make sense for classical, though there are still cases where information is missing or poorly presented. My main beef is with the app. I like to stream to my home audio equipment via Chromecast, but tracks hardly ever advance automatically; I have to hit the skip forward button for every track. The app also loses the album page during playback, making hard to go back and view the track list. I also wish I could view booklets like I can on the website.
This app is amazing for classical music streaming. Spotify, Deezer, etc would always frustrate me with how they categorize/tag classical. Idagio makes it a lot easier to search by performer, composer, or view a list of different performances for a single piece. I can save an entire piece to my favorites without having to save each movement separately. A couple things would make this a 5 star app imo: save my spot in a piece when I close the app, and Google Assistant integration.
Absolutely fantastic app for the classical aficionado or merely the curious. Whether it's the newest release from the Vienna Philharmonic, or that rare but legendary recording from 50 years ago, you can find it. Still a few gaps in the more esoteric section, but I have trouble finding that on the internet more generally. If it had Android Auto support, it would be perfect.
Dark mode. Also, given the number of various recordings for a single work, it is tiring searching through a composers catalog finding those of quality (i.e. low noise). You certainly have the data for which works (and even recordings) are played most. Why not use that for a, "hey, you're probably looking for one of these, so here are the best sounding ones" Playlist for each composer. To me, that's much more useful than "latest releases" (which, to be fair, probably sound the best). $0.02
It is amazing how accessible and intuitive this app is. It is much easier to find classical pieces here than other streaming apps. Movement titles are displayed as well as the major work, composer, dates, and performers. If I wanted to listen to only the New York Philharmonic, I could do so by browsing their ENTIRE discography by year, or conductor. It has an option to listen based on your mood. You can also select playlists derived from specific epochs, (medieval, baroque, classical, etc.) You can discover new music, hear the most popular selections, or even listen to a playlist of a specific performer or soloist. I can't stress enough how powerful this resource is for lovers of classical music, especially performers and teachers. It is well worth its subscription fee.
Good news. Idagio has a great selection of classical music Bad news. The Android app does not work well with that music. Difficult to search, many crashes Idagio allows you to choose a composer, then filter that music, by performer, work or many other options. That filter works on the browser, and the iPhone app, but not on the Android app. The app lets you send the music to Sonos, but that frequently fails and crashes. And Idagio does not work well with Sonos searches. Hoping for fixes
Great search engine and the catalogue is definitely big enough for most purposes. The UI is really clean, but lacks a lot of key features. Specifically, it would be useful to be able to create a queue of tracks. Also, your collection can get overbearing, and I can't tell in what order recordings are listed (they aren't sorted by composer at least); it would be great to sort or filter them in some way. Still a good service though.
By far the best app for classical music streaming. It does everything right in my opinion. Excellent sorting and searching. My only question is: is there a way to ask for or suggest albums or recordings to be added? I'd prefer to use this for all my classical music, both for studying pieces and for enjoying them, but a few important ones are missing from IDAGIO, keeping me from completely switching over. Other than that, I think this app works perfectly.
An all around great app. Perfect for somebody who wants to build a collection of easy to find and discover classical music. I would like to see a more intuitive way of introducing forms of classical to newer listeners such as myself. You do have great pre-made playlists by composer, but ones for era and sub-genre would be nice. If you already have them, they weren't as easy to find.
Another user that has come here after being kicked from Primephonic...this app isnt perfect, but I would much rather support this then go feed the giant that ate the old service. So far I really do like Idagio. The great sound quality is still there, you can download anything. Its mostly easy to find things, but the browse could use some work on the app. Its hard to find anything unless you know exactly what or who you are looking for, so discovering new/similar composers isnt easy. Otherwise 👏
After years of promising, and even admitting that it's essential to the experience of art music, they STILL don't have anything close to gapless playback. I was forced back to idagio when apple gobbled up Primephonic. I was honestly frightened to see that nothing had improved. So now there's no game in town? Idagio, get on this now! Lossless doesn't matter if we're distracted by a half-second gap every two minutes of a continuous piece of music. Your app does not work until that's fixed.
The service is good, and I am not about to cancel, but the app has a lot of glitches. The music will suddenly stop if browsing the web or skip tracks when I type. The streaming buffers constantly, even at the lowest quality settings, so I consider that feature to be useless. That might be a carrier issue, but I never had a problem with Spotify before switching. Since you can download tracks, albums and playlists, it's not a big deal, but I would definitely prefer streaming to be viable.
I thank you for allowing a brief period to explore Idagio and what it has to offer. The user interface is really nice, the app overall is easy to use and the sound quality is excellent. However, Idagio falls short on the number of albums in the library. For instance, I am a connoisseur of the music of Vaughan William's and have discovered a large number of CD's and pieces missing that are included in Spotify. Also, the number of albums and music of the Renaissance is about 1/6 that of your competitor. As for artists, those whose music is recorded on the Hyperion, Naxos or Marco Polo labels are few., and recordings on the old Phillips and London labels are also limited. I approximate that Idagio's library is about at or below 1/2 of Spotify's. That is why, for now, I gave you app 3 stars.
