Uninstalled. I wanted to use it, as opposed to web browser access. Ever since trying the app out for about a month, every morning listening to WOOD FM 106.9, I'd close the app whe ln done. Every time, I figured out that the app continued/continues to run in the background, draining my battery faster than prior to installing. I'd have to force stop. There is no place I've found in the app to shut that off completely. It "wakes up" on its own. Not dealing with it anymore.
Reviews for iHeart: Music, Radio, Podcasts
← Back to iHeart: Music, Radio, PodcastsLately the "free" version has entirely too many adds, more than listening to the actual radio, the ratio is 1 song to 1 add at this point, typically you get to hear two songs followed by two unstoppable adds, just not worth the aggravation, YouTube has fewer adds at.this point & they are skippable. Ah well, had a good run, back to local storage & digital music with at least some semblance of fidelity.
The app will not play anything on mobile data (with 4 to 5 bars of 5g coverage). Looked to see if it was a setting restricting playback on mobile data but found nothing. The music and/or podcasts just sit buffering and never play. The second I switch to WiFi, everything works fine. Not great since I use this on the road with only mobile data available for internet access. *Edit* Since the most recent update, everything seems to be resolved now using the app over mobile data and Wi-Fi.
Probably the worst streaming app available. No matter how you set your preferences and settings, you'll find that nothing works as it should; as you've set it. You'll find podcasts starting from different places than you left them, starting automatically when you open the app, despite your settings. Literally nothing working as it should. So many other apps are available. Strongly recommend you try something else; literally anything else.
I love it! I take the app everywhere I go and it's free and not to many adds and they don't interrupt the music like other apps. since I listen to all different types of music from classical, opera, rock, Christian and top 40-music; i can create my own play-list or groups according the way I feel. also they have great podcast and news if I want to keep up wants going around the world of music and news.
I adore this app for listening to my favorite podcasts for free!!! Super easy to use, and it's always reliable....no glitches or crashes. Also I like that it's super easy to explore and has an amazing amount of podcasts, artists to choose from. I have discovered some of my favorite new artists & podcasts on this app. Seriously I can't believe that it's free.
doesn't work with new android update. every time you open anything else on your phone it closes down and you have to start over. I'd recommend just buying a regular am/fm radio before I'd recommend downloading this app. update:: so I contacted the department for android like they requested, and their solution was for me, which was about 20 steps, including uninstalling the app. so I just uninstalled it and downloaded something more user-friendly. I don't work for this company.
I loved how when I listen to my downloads when one podcast would finish it would seamlessly start the next one. I could listen all day and not have to do anything as long as the podcasts were in order of listening preference. Since the last update, after each podcast it stops and I have to find my phone and see which is the next podcast as hit play. I wish to continuous listening would be restored. Especially for long drives, not safe to search the phone while driving.
I honestly hate this app so much. maybe I'm just missing something, but trying to create a playlist is incredibly unintuitive. the default playlist tab is a bunch of radio suggestions, which is whatever, but I want to access the podcasts I just added and mess around with the order I put them in. and why is it so difficult to find the list of the podcasts I'm following? I still haven't found the play list either! I get you want us to pay to upgrade, but why would I want to pay for this??
New 2025 issue: nearly every morning while listening to my local radio station, the app gets stuck in a loop playing ads. I don't notice until I realize the news didn't play on the half hour. I exit & restart and turns out they've been back in the air for who knows how long! frustrating Contantly downloads podcasts when it's set not to. Does this weird thing of changing stations, podcast episodes, and even to a totally different podcast randomly- I'm not even touching the phone.
please fix the auto play feature. I have it toggled off to not autoplay when my phone connects to my car. and yet it still Auto plays *edit* I have to downgrade to 1 star. this app is nothing but radio with extra steps. even with the paid version, all you get is the same songs over and over and over again. then sprinkle in their annoying little clips about whatever that also repeat over and over again. as someone who spends a lot of time in the car, this is just unacceptable.
I've had this application for about 4 years and it's been good. I do wish I could download my music to listen or do whatever I want to with it without having to use the application. If I had any requests, it would be to give specials often or go down on price every so often. I've been looking at 2 other apps that my kids use for free and says they can download music for anything to listen to without the whole app pulling up.
App won't allow me to play what I want even though I pay for all access. Every time I search for something and tap it, it says "Building your station" but never does anything at all. I can't choose songs I search or even artist stations. It's been like this for a long while but everything I try doesn't fix anything. If this doesn't get fixed I'll be getting rid of my subscription amd delete the app!!!!
good for what it does. BUT, though I understand the need for commercials, I would be so much better if you would CONTROL THE VOLUME OF COMMERCIALS!!! this is most likely the main reason I don't use this app very often. it is so annoying to be listening to something at one volume then have the commercial come on and almost double the volume.
I loved the previous version of this app. I HATE the update!!! I listen to and am playing 6 contests. it is very difficult now to find my stations that I have preset and the icons are so small I cannot see the station #s below them. I had to try to get to a search area to find the station I use most, in 2 different ways just now, NOT HAPPY with you anymore 😭
This is very clunky and has a weird, awkward interface, it's not intuitive, and it seems most of the stations I've tried to listen to are more commercials than actual programming. And it's not just a couple ads. it's regular breaks with a dozen ads right after another. So I switch the station, then get bombarded by I Heart Radio ADS. And then more station ads. so they should just call this advertisement with a little bit of actual radio now & then. I hate ads and IHR is ridiculous... 👎
I mentioned in a review earlier this year that they've been periodically removing albums on this app which makes it impossible to access tracks from them anymore, but I just recently checked certain Artist Playlists and discovered that not only are there more missing albums, but albums whose tracks are all missing! I don't know why all this is happening but it's clear to me that things haven't gotten any better. I think it might be time to try another music streaming app for a change.
Stops playback when you put your phone to sleep, under the guise of "buffering" and as soon as you unlock your phone to try to restart the app, it starts playing again. update: this app still sucks. it will play ads more than music/radio. suddenly stops playing when listening to radio, but has no problem playing ads. and more ads. and more ads. and more ads. 0/10 would recommend.
Ever since the hurricanes came through Florida, there is a glitch in the system. Whenever there is a power switch, like tower to tower, or wifi on to off, about a minute of Iheart (not local) ads will interrupt and play. It's extremely annoying missing a minute or so of whatever I'm listening to just from going from the car to the house. Happens across different stations, so it's definitely the app. This same thing has happened before, so I know it can be fixed.
This is the only music service that's good as the free version but I have a suggestions: 1 Put the full name of a song (album name, version, remaster, etc.) when searching for new songs 2 Let free users look at recently played songs (even if we can't play them 3 Sometimes the music just stops completely and I have to restart my play list. Normally that'd be fine but it happens too often not to be an annoyance, so fix that please. otherwise, great service
