Content is great. The app? Not so much... When you open the app via a notification for a story update, you have to constantly select, then re-select the chapter you need to even get it to load. Usually, you're dealing with this about 3-5min on every entry into the app. It started in roughly Sep/Oct 2020, and definitely has the feel of an "update gone horribly wrong".
Reviews for Inkitt: Books, Novels, Stories
← Back to Inkitt: Books, Novels, StoriesAbsolutely love this app, has amazing stories and anyone can write what they want..however there are so many glitches. Blank screen when I move onto another chapter, resets all of my reading progress or deletes books from my library, when you try to scroll and leave your finger on the screen it tells you to choose an image to share, there's more than just that. I do love the app and can deal with the issues but it'd be great if they were fixed.
The best app for books so far!!!! Counting my streaks too and so easy to use. The collection are so good too! But I don't if it's only on my device or it's a thing on the app...I can't comment on a paragraph even though the icon is showing to add a comment or there's number on it indicating the number of comments on that paragraph, when I click on the icon nothing happens but hey! beggers are not choosers. Every other thing about this app is perfect!!! Edit:- NO INTERRUPTIONS, NO ADS!!! 😭
L.O.V.E! During quarantine I used this app to read for pleasure for the first time in a long time. Well, something besides manga. My ONLY complaint is that many books are works in progress and unfinished, with no new chapters submitted for days, weeks, or months at a time. So I'm kind of reading 10 books at once. I think I've almost exhausted the werewolf category!! So much better than Dreame!
First thing, thank you for no ads! I can read while listening to music and not get interrupted every other page! The selection of books is great! I haven't found any major issues at all. Two tiny ones, like moving books to reading lists/ and it will close itself every once in a while. But it doesn't lose your place when it does and the fact that the app itself isn't that big space wise I can't really complain.
I've used this ap for 2 years. I did have it at five stars, but have now lowered it to 2! It is constantly freezing. To where it's impossible to even write anything. If it's not freezing it wigs out and all my writing has big gaps in between the paragraphs. I'm so frustrated with all of this I'm taking a brake. I use the mobile app being it's easier for me. I have a computer, and it dosent glich as much, but still frustrated.
I love that this app is completely free and has no premium option because I had Wattpad before this and they updated to premium a while ago, which irritated me when I found out. I do suggest, though, that there is an audio version where you can highlight a word or words and tap the 'speak' option to learn how to pronounce them correctly. That usually worked in my favor when I was younger. Please! Do not update into premium! I don't want to have to find another reading app with similar features!
Reading is seamless and enjoyable, writing reviews and comments is easy, and you have a good chance of getting good feedback and reception. Plus, it's not all fanfic or YA romance, and that's wonderful. No ads too, yet everything is free to access. So maybe I'm in the minority, but Inkitt is my go-to app and much more preferable than Wattpad. My only gripe is that saving your writing and drafts is a little finnicky. Other than that though, no complaints so far.
Great app but can be better. love that it gives authors freedom and control over their writing. The reading experience can be better. It glitches often, won't open books from some pages, the page count won't appear sometimes, when a chapter comes out it loads the end of the chapter not the beginning (spoilers) and I really wish it had a dark mode option for night time reading. The worst part- once you subscribe to an author there is a lag of accessing their work, will charge immediately though.
Honestly, it's a well-made app. If you're looking to read/upload your own stories, it puts you out there and isn't biased like other networks (helps if you put books in contests for views), as well as you get people reading your work a lot quicker compared to other apps (wattpad, etc.). And you can read everyones books, comment, and leave feedback. The only issue with this app is the highlighting text thing that you sometimes do on accident. Other than that, I have no complaints!
I found some good stories to read, but I can't help but wonder how many I didn't get to read because of publishing/saving issues. I had actually started my first story, great opening paragraph and a half, saved, went back to work on it the next day and it was gone. However, after looking at other so-called 'similar' apps, at least it doesn't have some stupid points system to continue reading.
Perfect for reading books by aspiring authors! There are so many genres to choose from and explore. No ads that are annoying! However, searching for a certain type of book is SUPER hard. Adding a hashtag search would be more efficient for readers. Also, please make it so it does not take me all the way back to the main page when I click off of a book I'm reading the synopsis for. Thanks!
I love the fact that it's got organizational features rivaling those of my favorite novel-writing software. I especially love the fact it works on both PC and Android (which SOME apps refuse to do). However, my main aggrevation is two fold, and hard to ignore. First: When I'm in the app, for some odd reason, the enter key on my virtual keyboard, nothing happens. Second: I can't find a way to report this in the app itself. Third (trivial): there's no option for a prologue or epilogue I can find.
The content on the app is amazing and free like it states. The problem I have is you can't read a single chapter without the app auto refreshing and taking you back to the top of the page, taking you to a random chapter of the book, or the app just straight up stops working and force Closes. I've had the app literally an hour at this point, and I have a fully updated S24+, so it's not my phone. That's why it's free. It takes 6-8 attempts to read one chapter.
I love this app, it reminds me of Webtoon, the way you can comment, like, and share the stories, but what makes it better is that you don't have to pay for early release or things like that. This app makes it easy for new journalists or people who just like to write to publish their work and let other people on the app read it, and if it is perfect or just overall a nice book or comic, other creators of the app can publish it fully! Wonderful app for readers, writers, and journalists alike.
If I could rate it 0 stars, I would. If you sign up for a subscription, then later want to cancel, they make it impossible to do so. I tried on computer, different browsers, in this app, and on my phone on browsers. The menu where it should be, isn't there. And customer service ignored my request for help. They asked me a few questions, I answered, then they never replied again. The only way I could cancel my subscription was to delete my account.
They just did a new update and I thought updates were supposed to fix problems not create more. It was fine before but now there are so many technical issues. It takes literally 10 minutes for each page to load. And when it does, there is so much lag I have to touch the sake button 15 tines before I get results. This is no exaggeration. I counted. This is so frustrating because the app was working just fine before. Either do one big update that fixes all the problems or don't do them anymore.
There are minor issues with the app. There a little bugs like not being able to click the three dots on stories in my library. Other issues like when reading stories, if you make one comment inline, all inline comment spaces disappear (this doesn't happen on web page, you can inline comment many times) The app is a lot better than when I first used it but it is kinda bug filled in little ways that's making me consider going back to use the webpage. overall love inkitt, reading, and writing
5 stars, app is amazing & actually gives people what they want, books to read. as far as I have seen, most everything is free. I'm not stressing about "tokens" and unlocking chapters, and not paying an absurd amount of money to finish reading a story or just left hanging if you dont want to spend money only going chapter by chapter like with majority of reading apps. if you like to read books and you're tired of fighting with all the other reading apps, this one is where it's at. 10/10 stars.
the app freezes a lot for me. Whether the story is saved or not, when im scrolling through a book and reading it, it often "freezes" on me and very slooooooowly will it scroll down itself. i havent found a way to fix this. it does it randomly and takes forever to fix. I usually have to completely close the app and reopen it for it to work properly. its doing it more frequently then it was. It does it multiple times an hour. please fix this or tell me how I can fix it. its my only issue.
