Content is great. The app? Not so much... When you open the app via a notification for a story update, you have to constantly select, then re-select the chapter you need to even get it to load. Usually, you're dealing with this about 3-5min on every entry into the app. It started in roughly Sep/Oct 2020, and definitely has the feel of an "update gone horribly wrong".
Reviews for Inkitt: Books, Novels, Stories
Absolutely love this app, has amazing stories and anyone can write what they want..however there are so many glitches. Blank screen when I move onto another chapter, resets all of my reading progress or deletes books from my library, when you try to scroll and leave your finger on the screen it tells you to choose an image to share, there's more than just that. I do love the app and can deal with the issues but it'd be great if they were fixed.
The best app for books so far!!!! Counting my streaks too and so easy to use. The collection are so good too! But I don't if it's only on my device or it's a thing on the app...I can't comment on a paragraph even though the icon is showing to add a comment or there's number on it indicating the number of comments on that paragraph, when I click on the icon nothing happens but hey! beggers are not choosers. Every other thing about this app is perfect!!! Edit:- NO INTERRUPTIONS, NO ADS!!! ðŸ˜
L.O.V.E! During quarantine I used this app to read for pleasure for the first time in a long time. Well, something besides manga. My ONLY complaint is that many books are works in progress and unfinished, with no new chapters submitted for days, weeks, or months at a time. So I'm kind of reading 10 books at once. I think I've almost exhausted the werewolf category!! So much better than Dreame!
First thing, thank you for no ads! I can read while listening to music and not get interrupted every other page! The selection of books is great! I haven't found any major issues at all. Two tiny ones, like moving books to reading lists/ and it will close itself every once in a while. But it doesn't lose your place when it does and the fact that the app itself isn't that big space wise I can't really complain.
I've used this ap for 2 years. I did have it at five stars, but have now lowered it to 2! It is constantly freezing. To where it's impossible to even write anything. If it's not freezing it wigs out and all my writing has big gaps in between the paragraphs. I'm so frustrated with all of this I'm taking a brake. I use the mobile app being it's easier for me. I have a computer, and it dosent glich as much, but still frustrated.
I love that this app is completely free and has no premium option because I had Wattpad before this and they updated to premium a while ago, which irritated me when I found out. I do suggest, though, that there is an audio version where you can highlight a word or words and tap the 'speak' option to learn how to pronounce them correctly. That usually worked in my favor when I was younger. Please! Do not update into premium! I don't want to have to find another reading app with similar features!
Reading is seamless and enjoyable, writing reviews and comments is easy, and you have a good chance of getting good feedback and reception. Plus, it's not all fanfic or YA romance, and that's wonderful. No ads too, yet everything is free to access. So maybe I'm in the minority, but Inkitt is my go-to app and much more preferable than Wattpad. My only gripe is that saving your writing and drafts is a little finnicky. Other than that though, no complaints so far.
Great app but can be better. love that it gives authors freedom and control over their writing. The reading experience can be better. It glitches often, won't open books from some pages, the page count won't appear sometimes, when a chapter comes out it loads the end of the chapter not the beginning (spoilers) and I really wish it had a dark mode option for night time reading. The worst part- once you subscribe to an author there is a lag of accessing their work, will charge immediately though.
Honestly, it's a well-made app. If you're looking to read/upload your own stories, it puts you out there and isn't biased like other networks (helps if you put books in contests for views), as well as you get people reading your work a lot quicker compared to other apps (wattpad, etc.). And you can read everyones books, comment, and leave feedback. The only issue with this app is the highlighting text thing that you sometimes do on accident. Other than that, I have no complaints!
