This app has been a lifesaver, seriously. Recently found out in some unspectacular ways that I have a histamine intolerance and had to change my diet pretty quickly. This app has made the transition a lot easier. The app developer Jonah is also very responsive and that goes a long way to how great this app is. If you are dealing with a food allergy issue this is a great way to help you along.
Reviews for InTolerApp: Histamine & FODMAP
← Back to InTolerApp: Histamine & FODMAPExactly what I needed to make managing my intolerances easy. Just scan the barcode of any item or the ingredients list and you'll know in the blink of an eye if you can have it or not. Working perfectly on items here in the UK.
A great app with a very nice developer. The functionality is top notch, you can set up your allergens with full granularity and it looks great too. I will be using it to select/shop cooking ingredients, because my girlfriend has several sensitivities and it's difficult to keep track of "good" ingredients when you aren't directly affected. Thanks Jonah for making this app!
I follow a vegetarian diet, and this is so so helpful. Questioning whether something is okay to eat or not will never have to happen again. I can scan something and have the information I need quickly. I've tried at least 10 apps, and this one is by far the best. It has detailed instructions, and it's so easy to use. I never leave reviews, but I love this so much, and I'm so thankful to Jonah for the awesome app.
Conflicting information on some ingredients, scanner picks up junk eg 'gluten-free' as gluten, 'nut-free' as nut etc. which is common on Australiam labels. Barcode scanner useless in Australia, which isn't surprising and could be forgiven if the ingredient scanner worked well. Great concept and I hope it can be made to work with Australian labels, but in its current form it's not useful at all.
The word NUTRITION triggers NUT warning in ingredient scanner thus rendering EVERY scan Not Compatible. I just can't tolerate this! It's such an obvious error. I didn't bother looking for other but nothing I scanned including water gave a compatible result. At this rate, I'll die. Can't justify paid version unless this improves greatly.
I have a few food intolerances that came on in my mid-forties. So I went looking for an app that would give me some guidance with food choices. After going through about 5 ( the Monash recommend app is garbage) of them I happened upon this one. I put in my preferences and so far none of the foods have caused me issues. Would HIGHLY recommend!!
I have a yeast allergy and a histamine intolerance and this app made grocerie shopping so much easier with the scan barcode and scan ingredients options!! actually bought my first meal prep because of it, makes it easier to know what i canand cant have as well- all around i actually love this app so much
🛑 "In-app purchases" means a 100% pay wall to even use the app AT ALL. "Free app" immediately hits you with an ad that feels like a natural part of the setup steps until you get to "pay $10 to unlock the pro version." OK... Annoying and misleading, but dismiss and finally get to USING the app.... now search for something you're going to eat.... you see a lock icon 🔒. Click it or the filter or anything else and... "Click here to start the pro trial for 7 days, then pay $10." 😮💨👎
This app works so well for managing dietary issues. I have to be on a low histamine diet and it makes grocery shopping so much longer. This app is really great and I love that I can see the history. Additionally it's really good if you have issues with specific foods/ingredients where you can specify how well you tolerate each thing and that gets factored into the overall decision. Fantastic app.
On multiple occasions products scanned are shown as intollerant when it is safe for use, wrong allergy information about products scanned, what is the point of paying for an app if you still have to double check the ingredients list manually? You may believe that the only sources of information are labelscanning and unverified user input. Why pay for that? Disappointed
I have just started using this app and it is fantastic. It's taking all the guesswork out for me. I am amazed to find products I thought were 'safe' are actually not. Also great that you can look for alternative brands that could be ok. Will definitely be continuing the subscription when my free trial is over. Thank you, Jonah, for all your handwork in putting this together.
I recently found out that Tyramine causes migraines for me. This is the first app that actually checks for it, and I feel a sense of relief. Thank you for making this app! You don't know how much this means to me.
I love this app so far. It would be great if the recipe generator could create a specific recipe. For example, compatible salad dressing.
so far so good , it's really helpful while out shopping . I signed up for the year . it's a good product aimed to help people so I am happy to support the developer who I just found out also has histamine intolerance.
this used to be a free app and now it is not. I now have to pay for a plan just to make sure that I don't kill my niece everyday she comes over. I like to double-check and make sure everything that I have in my house because sometimes I get new things and like to make sure I put them in my cupboard that is safe for her. so thanks for taking away an actually useful app for people who actually need it.
This app works really well to quickly check food compatibility. They are also constantly updating it so it has more features and more foods. Highly recommend. I use it primarily for a low fructose diet and to check for FODMAPs.
The app is extremely easy to use and is well designed/intuitive to use. The developer is very friendly and helpful--he answered an email when I reached out to him. There have been a few occasions when it hasn't flagged something correctly (for example, misreading something with coconut milk as "not compatible" because it had "milk"), but reporting errors is very easy and I expect these issues will disappear as more people use the app. Would definitely highly recommend to others!
This app has been very helpful in helping me to narrow down foods can get at the grocery store. I did a store visot where all I did was scan foods I usually bought or was thinking of buying to rule out the bad ones. Ended up finding some surprises that I could have! So far the only issue I've seen is when it scans ingredients, Durum wheat gets flagged as Rum lol
Excellent app. With the pro edition you can set what you are intolerant/allergic too. I mainly use the ingredient scanner as it will outline what you are intolerant/allergic to in the ingredients on the screen. The scan and search is extremely quick. With age, everything, including ingredients list font size, is getting smaller or is printed on the wrong color background so you can't read it. The developer was responsive when I emailed about two foods I couldn't find on the list.
