The selection and genres are wide, even including variety shows. But the app automatically plays first episode of anything even though I just wanted more information. It's not allowing me to cast to my TV. I hate having to put the phone near my face to watch anything and it's causing my hands to cramp. So hopefully there will be that option in the future. Until then a 3 star!!!
Reviews for iQIYI - Drama, Anime, Show
← Back to iQIYI - Drama, Anime, ShowI changed my rating to 4 stars for 3 reasons. 1st having a drama start when you just want to read what it's about. 2nd not being able to change the caption setting. Having it always in white makes it difficult to read if the background is light. 3rd even though I have no issues watching it on my cellphone when I try to watch it on my TV it's slow, freezes and/or closes the app.
I too, would've given this app 5 stars if it wouldn't auto play shows when just wanting to read the description, and if you didn't show ads/banners for upgrading to VIP to members who are already VIPs (me). Also, whenever I go to watch a show, unless it's really late at night, like 2am or so, the video keeps jumping, stalling and then plays with no sound before freezing. So I'm constantly exiting the app and reopening it just to get through an episode. It's seriously frustrating.
Love the app. It would be better if it would open when I'm offline since half the time I have issues with that, even having some videos in my downloads. But once it reads that I have videos, it plays seamlessly. Also, if it wouldn't automatically play a video if I accidentally click on it would be nice. I kind of wished it would give option to download beforehand. But besides those 2 minor things, I am rather enjoying this!
Like the show selection but the captions are sometimes very hard to read. They are all in gray or white text so sometimes you can't read what is being said if the caption is posted on a white or light background. An example would be if the speaker in the movie has on a white shirt and the captions are at the bottom on the speaker's shirt. You totally miss some important parts of what is going on.
The content itself is fine, but the app itself is horrible. Navigation is difficult and finding what you want is hit or miss. I hate that I can't click a show to find out details without it auto playing the first episode. I just want to know what it's about before choosing whether to watch or not! And in the middle of every episode an annoying pop up shows up on screen asking me to rate it. I signed up for the $.99 intro month so I could binge a few shows, but I'll definitely cancel after that
I would give this app 5 stars but, they need to work on the English subtitles. For example on Beauty of Resilience; the English subtitle sentence will pop up and by the time you read the first word of it. The sentence will dissappear. They are not allowing the user to read it all with enough time allowed. I found this on other shows as well. Oh and I pay for no ads!
This app forces you to make a purchase otherwise you only see the first 6 minutes as a preview but the English translation s aren't that good, it isn't easy to change the translations language and the app doesn't remember your preference. Even you are able to get English subtitles they zoom by and are hard to read. If I'm forced to pay to view anything then I expect things to be easier.
I would love to give more stars, and I know it's not the app's fault, but 5min of advertisement every 10 to 15min that you cannot skip is just too much. When the skip button does appear, you barely skip one ad, so you still end up waiting 4/5 ads most of the time and they are each 1min long (not kidding). Sometimes you cannot even select the skip button via the TV remote to skip, it appears but you just can't hit it.
love this app! the low rating is for a few issues. but I still enjoy the app. 1. subtitles are often wrong & make no sense. 2. if you fast forward then the subtitles will be off. The only way to fix it is to restart the entire episode. 3. if you pause any show or exit off it for any reason, your progress is not save. it will restart you on episode one. 4. continue watching section takes 3 days to update. so you need to remember where you were if you exit the app.
There are too many ads. It also put me onto the next episode somehow. Whenever you pause to read subtitles, it pulls up an ad. You can get out of it easily, but it's still annoying. I tried to go back to the first episode and back to where I was in the episode but it played a bunch of ads even though I just watched ads. I got through 6 of the ads before deciding it's too much to just enjoy a show on there.
I downloaded it bc the ads said free. BS. It's free......to watch MAYBE the first episode then you have to pay for a subscription. It sucks. Also even getting to the first episode you'll get near 6 ads. I'd almost call it a scam but that wouldn't be fully accurate. If you want to pay, this is for you, but from what I'm seeing, the subscription isn't fully functional.
There are too many technical issues! Even the paid version has so many issues. This app doesn't have a watchlist to save your favorites. Doesn't keep up with what you are watching the "continue watching" doesn't update. Doesn't Always have subtitles when it's labeled as such and the app crashes constantly. Not using the paid version anymore its waste of money
The app has ads which infuriates me because I paid for VIP which claims you get no ads. There's always ads popping up when I pause it, an option to rate the show pops up on my screen while watching which distracts me from the subtitles, and the subtitles on many shows are too fast and I say this as someone who can read fairly fast. I do like the extensive catalog of shows. There's a wide variety and available. I would rate it higher if there were no ads and if there were trailers available.
I have been a paid subscriber for over 2 years and never had an issue. I like the feature of being able to read comments from viewers to give me a heads up if a series or movie is something I will like. They have anime, series, movies and pretty good in providing new and great selections. The only thing is this new express thing that they are doing. If I am paying a subscription, I shouldn't have to pay additional to watch the last 2-5 episodes of a series.
Updated review: Thank you for adding the ability to browse the entire library (there's an extra icon to the right of the search bar now). It's SO helpful! Also, I know machine-translated subtitles aren't ideal, but everyone please keep in mind that many of these titles might otherwise never get subtitles because they're not popular or new and so not a priority. I'd rather have machine-translated subs over nothing.
the app is good.. they have good shows and the quality is good too..but I have problem with the VIP subscription...Can you please introduce another subscription with lower cost.In the standard one we can use it on two apps, 1080p,can watch it on other devices.it's okay if it's only available on one device, quality can be 720p, please lower the cost.I can buy 3 months subscription in other apps like netflix, disney+ etc. with Iqiyi's one month subscription cost.
I didn't really like my experience with app because they force you to watch a lot of ads. The translations for the shows are off. The subscription option prices are very expensive. I got the 8.99 monthly subscription but it didn't really benefit me at all. Plus they have a clear bias for certain shows. Some shows on the app don't have any problems when it comes to the video, translation, and quickness in video being uploaded. The shows that aren't on the biased/favored they get the opposite.
Vertical dramas constantly pause to load, even if you reduce picture quality. This app can play regular dramas just fine. It's even above average for a streaming app in terms of remembering your place when you leave the app and return. I have the standard paid tier. It's supposed to be no ads but there are some ads. They don't interfere with playing videos so it's not a big problem. Previously you had to pay extra for vertical dramas. Now they're available but won't play smoothly. What gives?
Decent app, but could use some polish. When I click on a title, I don't want to have the episode immediately start playing, I want to read the synopsis first. It gets old quickly to constantly pause or close the video in order to check the show/movie details. Browsing with auto-play going on constantly is horrible. I don't use Netflix for that reason alone. Too much noise while I'm just trying to browse for a show to watch. Cut the unnecessary auto-plays and it'll help. Or give opt in settings.
