Reviews for J-Novel Club

I like this app so far. I just wish you guys have a History and Bookmark options. I read on my breaks at work, and it's a hassle to have to search for the novel I was reading every time I open the app. (๑•﹏•) Also, the switch between full screen to the screen w/ progress bar/option makes the text body move up/down. It's not that much of a problem, just a bit annoying. ʕ´• ᴥ•̥`ʔ Thank you for your hard work translating the novels! (≧▽≦)

The J novel subscription works best if you like to read many series, don't care about owning them and want to support the writers legally. The app works well as an alternative to website, but doesn't offer any other advantages (eg no offline downloads).

Can you change the UI. Make the Library the first thing we see when we open the app. I hate that it's in the Accounts tab and is even on the second tab to Profile. I don't care about my profile, I want to see the books in my Library first. You can do whatever with Series/Releases tabs as long as they're next to the Library

Works as intended, but somehow I still don't feel fully comfortable reading using this. One of the reasons is how toggling the interface in the reader also moves the text, but that's probably my own preference. I'm really grateful how this app now allows coins purchase though, I've been waiting for that for a while!

This app is designed as the anti-user experience. The only reason I'm able to give it two stars is there's a nice selection of Manga and light novels. So if you want to officially support them this isn't a bad way to do it in theory. The problem comes in with the entire user experience. It's awful. There's no way to discover content. You either luckily see something you like in recent or know it's exact name. Basic features like "more like this" or "other volumes in this series" are nonexistent.

My experience is mostly positive. I would very much appreciate it if you guys made it to where you can choose your font instead of zooming in on your screen. That can be very hard to control and the settings do change as you turn the page. As it is, I guess I'll logging in on my computer tomorrow and reading what I need to read.

App is pretty awful. You can't subscribe from inside the app, you can't search through or filter recents, and most of their recent publishing acquisitions of manga are nowhere near as caught up as the independent scanlators, so it could be years before we see the chapters we would've seen monthly/weekly.

It is very frustrating to use this app (or web version) if you have reading accessibility issues. There is no option for text to speech. Due to the way prepub books load, it is outstandingly difficult to get a good reading experience if you need to use something like talkback. I really want to read the prepubs they have here, so I am anxiously awaiting a native text to speech feature.

Meh, could be lots better. Needs a "recently read" or "continue reading" feature - anything not current (eg the monthly catchup list) requires numerous interactions to filter, scroll (or search) the series, select the volume, and then select the part you last read. Should be 2 taps. Long-tap on chapter parts to mark as read is nice (but novels only). Would be nice to do this at the volume level as well (10-15x holds 😩) Tracker for novels works, but extremely inconsistent for manga chapters.

Passable reader. Lack of ratings for books is a shame. Oh, and my forum access has been broken on it for over a year, and support gave up trying to help me after a single three email interaction that ended with, "it looks fine from our end. Sorry!".
