I've tested a bunch of headphone companion apps and this one from JBL is one of the better ones. The level of customization and control you get is really impressive - you can tweak just about every setting on your headphones. In my experience, the noise cancelling and ambient sound features work great and make a noticeable difference. And the interface is clean and intuitive too, which is important for an app like this. My only real gripe is that the controls can be a bit finicky at times, but that's a minor issue. Overall, JBL Headphones is a must-have if you own a pair of their headphones.
