So here's my honest take on Jellyfin. I've tested a bunch of media server apps and this one's definitely one of the better options, especially if you value privacy and open-source software. The ability to self-host your whole media library is super convenient, and the Android app makes it easy to access everything on the go. And the interface could use some polish, but it gets the job done. My only real gripe is the occasional stability issues, but the devs seem to be on top of it. Overall, Jellyfin is a great choice if you don't mind a little initial setup.

Description

Been using Jellyfin for a couple months now. It’s basically a free, open-source media server that lets you store and stream all your movies, shows, music, and photos. Pretty solid app if you’re into that kind of thing.

Here’s what you do: you set up the Jellyfin server on your computer or NAS, then use the Android app to access your media library. There’s also Chromecast support, so you can stream stuff to your TV. And the interface is pretty easy to use – took me a while to figure out all the features, but it’s pretty intuitive overall.

Look, if you’re looking for a DIY media solution that’s free and private, you’ll probably like Jellyfin. It’s not perfect – the app can be a little buggy sometimes – but overall it does the job. Worth checking out if you’re tired of paying for streaming services.
