Reviews for JoyRead

I've had this app for years. I liked the stories. Bad grammar and some translations were weird but the stories were interesting, even though they ALL follow the same storyline. I have to admit, I spent way too much money on this app. One thing that bothers me is that I unlocked an entire novel that I liked only to have the damn thing disappear some time later. I have no way of retrieving all the chapters I bought. So, DON'T bother making purchases. Only do the daily goals to unlock chapters.

Don't waste your time or money. Saw an ad stating you can read for free which turned out you can either pay to unlock chapters or watch two 30 second ads for each "chapter" which are very short. At the beginning, the chapters are longer. As you read on, it gets shorter which would be equivalent to two pages on a book. In the end you can end up paying over $100 to read one book. It is a shame they have some good stories but how they have it structured is shameful. I ended up deleting the app.

Who writes this junk? Accidentally clicked on a banner ad to read what I thought was a short story. I read a few chapters, until I was prompted to download this app. Read a few more chapters until app told me I had to buy coins to continue. What I read was poorly written, bad grammar...like something a precocious 10 year old would have written. At the very least, written in a different language & Google Translated into English. Deceiving. Uninstalled.

I have installed it thinking I could read for free by watching ads, no options I could find to do so and they requested to pay 20$ without explaining why or what it is for and that amount of money can buy me a complete series on Kindle. I gave it 2 stars because the story I was reading was interesting but I have other reading apps that I can read without having to pay.

I was gonna give it 5 stars but I am getting sick and tired of when I go to do the ads to get the points because I don't want to buy them, it keeps resetting itself and won't let me continue to read the books. Buying the coins/pears are getting expensive and I usually watch the ads to let me continue the book. Now you want me to read articles and when I do, you reset and I have to start all over again. So I uninstalled the app.

If I could give this a minus review, I would. In no way is this a free reading app. But the main issue is that there are books with repeated chapters, and since you have to use coins/perals to read a chapter, you do not see it until after opening the chapter. Therefore, you have lost those pearls with no way to recoup then. The customer service/help center is a joke. Not worth the time it takes to download.

While I really like the books in the app, the app makes them impossible and unaffordable to read. I spent $19.99 on a month membership that gives me 1500 coins and that still isn't enough to read an entire book. I could go on Amazon and buy 3 digital books for that price from famous authors. I will be canceling the membership and deleting the app which is sad because I really liked the book I was reading that I will never get to finish now.

I love the story The Lycan Kings Army but sadly I'm not able to complete it. The app is set up so you can watch ads and complete article reading tasks to read the next chapter but the article reading task page doesn't load normally for either the second or last task and you don't get credit for what you have done. I've been stuck with this reading task for 6 days and have contacted customer support they told me to send images of what I'm seeing I sent them and haven't recieved anything back.

Did the survey to earn pearls. Only used enough to unlock ONE chapter then went to bed WITHOUT even getting to the next chapter. Next morning (less than 10 hours later) the pearls were gone. Auto unlock is irrelevant when I didn't even get to the next chapter. Customer service is seemingly AI and is useless. Glad I didn't buy the pearls but I definitely go cheated out of at least 100 pearls. Regardless I don't recommend. Not only that but the ad process to unlock chapters via ad is absurd.

This app is better for stories than most. However, that's it. The amount of time one has to spend chasing the rewards to read a chapter is almost ridiculous. Let's not mention the misleading "watch 2 ads to read"..... ok, I'll mention it. This was true ONCE. After which, clicking the button opens not 2 ads, but 4 HEADINGS, where each one informs you to open 2 to 3 articles to either glance through or even read to get said reward. I will be looking elsewhere for the novels I'd like to read.

Money grabbing BS. I don't understand why this app has so many 5 star reviews. I spent over $20 and received the same amount of coins as pearls and couldn't even get halfway through one of the stories. I quickly unlocked all the chapters I could just to see how far I would get. It was going to cost over $100 to read one story. So I didn't even read it, and immediately asked for my money back and they said they "couldn't" bc the items I purchased had been "distributed." Do not get this app!

The cost for reading a story is ridiculously high. Instead of watching an ad to earn free tokens (pearls) you have to do an insane 4 step process of clicking 3 links and reading them and jump through so many hoops a ridiculous number of times which often have issues or don't always give you earned credits. Has good stories but excessive effort for very few pearls when each chapter is over 30 to open.

Extremely Disappointing - I was enjoying a bait story about Amarah, reading well beyond the standard offerings, most similar book apps present to readers. After downloading, I was allowed to reread Chapter 1 and then told to purchase the right to read chapters l had already read as click-bait. GOOD STUFF options follow: The author (AI?) is excellent; the editor (also AI?) is just as good. No spelling errors or incorrect wording; in fact, the only issue was the short paragraph length.

I'm only giving this 4 stars because of some technical issues I've had. I watch a lot of videos and do a lot of the daily missions for pearls I go to use them and all of the sudden they're gone even if I just acquired them. Sometimes it's because when I reopen the app it'll automatically open to a new story I've never read and sometimes they're just gone for no reason. That being said the stories I have read are really interesting and pretty good.

usually, I enjoy this app. it can be very pricey depending on the book, but recently, I have had so many issues. when you try to watch a video for the extra coins, it pushes you to read articles, but when you try to do it halfway through, it kicks you out and makes you start the reading over. then I try to buy extra coins, and it won't charge my card and kicks me out. I have just about had enough of the issues on this app. I have tried asking the customer service for the last 5 hrs-no help

Well I decided to try again... still has the web links instead of videos roughly 90% of the time. if you could do the 2 minute video loop ads 10% why not 50% seriously do they payout that much less!? I can mute and walk away from a video ads. But even if I left one of the links opened and walked away...yeah no all I'll get is 1 out of 4 links will be done and give my phone a virus. I really want to like this app because I love the stories but ultimately I really hate it. Uninstalled 09/ 18/2025.

Wow. Don't bother. Small daily reward. Earn pearls by reading 3-6 ads. Unlock chapters by scrolling thru 26 to 30+ articles/ads. Misclick, start over. I tried 4 times to unlock a chapter. This time, I was on step 8 of 8. Finished the final required article. Came back and was kicked out, stats erased. "Try again, Sucker." No, thank you. The lowest monthly subscription is only about 30 chapters out of a 500 chapter story. Not worth it. Uninstalling.

The cost to use this app is higher than any I've seen so far. $150+ to read 1 book is ridiculous and obscene. The monthly subscriptions are even worse. $30 monthly fee but the pearls are limited by day and expire after 7 days. Based on this, it would take me 3+ months to read a book and cost me about the same without subscription. Greedy much? This is too bad as I really was interested in reading one of the books. Now? This review to warn others and me uninstalling this app.

This is my least favourite reading app. The layout & design is not easily navigated. It's expensive. I'm happy to buy books but unless the book is a special edition hard to ever find again, I'm not paying hundreds of dollars to barely make it half way through. I enjoy the story that brought me to this app. Compared to other reading apps, this 1 seems to have the least issues with spelling & grammer.

It was originally a 5 star review, but I had to take off a star, because it is anoying that I can't remove coupon notifications, and it's rather expensive when using aud, and I'm against adding another subscription service. I would like to be able to either remove the notifications or just delete the coupons I'm not going to use, and if all the prices could be permanently reduced by 15% it would help a lot.
