So here's my honest take on JPay. I've tested a bunch of apps for staying in touch with incarcerated individuals, and this one's one of the better ones I've found. The core features work well - sending money, emails, and media is all pretty straightforward. But there are some frustrations too, like the fees and occasional bugs. Compared to similar apps, JPay is solid overall, but it's not perfect. I'd recommend it if you need a reliable way to support someone in prison, but just be prepared for a few annoyances here and there.

Cons

  • Fees for certain actions like sending emails can add up

Description

Been using JPay for a couple months now. It’s basically an app that lets you stay connected with incarcerated individuals – you can send money, emails, photos, and even videos. Pretty solid app if you’re looking to support a friend or family member who’s locked up.

Here’s what you do: you can quickly send money to their trust account, buy email stamps to send messages, and even buy a tablet for them to use the app. And there’s also the option to send photos and short videos, which is pretty cool. And the email feature is useful – you can get notifications when you get a new message.

Look, if you’ve got a loved one in prison, you’ll probably find JPay really helpful. It’s not perfect – the app can be a little glitchy sometimes and the fees for certain features are kinda annoying – but overall it does the job. Worth checking out if you need a way to stay connected.
