Reviews for Kala: Learn Ukulele & Tuner

Good app, but only 7 Hawaiian songs? For a ukulele, only 7? Most of the songs are rock and roll and other stuff. Probably great for hipster ukulele players. but if you're looking to learn Hawaiian songs, look elsewhere. I purchased a yearly subscription. I was helping more Hawaiian songs would be revealed with that. Nope. I will not renew.

I'm on Redmi note pro 13 and there is a huge synchronisation problem between video and audio. This makes the whole experience underwhelming to say the least. I'd go beyond trial if this is addressed but until then, I won't pay for a yearly subscription for a buggy app. bummer, content is nice. And content for baritone doesn't offer a learning path. it's just very basic and short. Unless I missed something?

I love this app. It's really helpful for a beginner like me because it makes it fun to practice and learn chords. I'm using it constantly. The only thing I would change is I wish I had an option to turn off the color coding for the chords. While it's helpful at first, my brain is starting to associate chords with colors rather than the chord names themselves, which isn't helpful in the long run.

I just bought a ukulele from them I thought I would get a little more of the songs from the app seems expensive to buy the whole full version and it doesn't play the music in a way that you can get a real feel for the sound of the song. The company should give you a code so you can get full access to the music for 6 months or so but I guess with internet this these days you think everything should be free so guess I'm getting spoiled

This app used to rock, it was so easy to practice with and understand, but it has become useless. I used to be willing to pay for a subscription even though I only used it every so often, it was just that good, but now I don't even want to keep it for the tuner. It's so unusable I just look up tabs on Google now instead. If it's not gonna have an easy play along feature and its gonna delete my favorites for no reason, what's the point!

I signed up for the free trial and enjoyed ukulenny's lessons so ended up paying for the year ($65+?). Well, after about 3 weeks, I realized there are features that I really want that Kala app does not have. 1. More old school songs, like Somewhere Over the Rainbow and many others. It's mostly pop and more modern music. There are some Hawaiian songs but you have to know the language. 2. Just the chords/pdf of songs. To play the songs, you have to play along with the track to see the chords. 3. S

Free songs should be free and not say "get full access" in a box. This app doesn't work well with a kala baritone since you can't change the key to DGBE. Transpose is spotty in what you can shift up or down. If you press down on the wrong part of the screen to change tempo the song will play instead of changing tempo. The advice it gives or doesn't isn't always helpful or even appear. I can butcher a note to high heaven and somehow the app will think its good. Needs more work.

Great (free)app for beginners. They have plenty of free songs for the brand new player under the Color Chord section. Advanced players will want to pay but it seems worth it once I get better. I'm loving the play along where I can REALLY slow down the song. 4 stars only because I think I'll outgrow the free version and have to pay. But I will after I learn all the free songs.

This app went from being decent to terrible really quickly. It used to have a few free songs to give you a feel of what the app would be like and teach you the basics of playing ukulele. Now everything including the bare basic tuner is locked behind a pay wall and honestly the tuner is not a very good one in the first place which is odd considering it's the app coming from the number one ukulele manufacturer in the USA

Nag nag nag! They want you to try it but it's like a used car salesman that won't leave you alone long enough to evaluate the damn car! You can't even play a song thru because it stops to nag you! From what I could see the tuner is like a bad joke. The format is clunky and nonintuitive and lacks any kind of control for scrolling thru the song unless that basic feature is locked behind the paywall too. I'm not going to sign up for a service they won't even let me evaluate properly first.
