A great resource with way too high of a monthly cost to get more basic features.
Reviews for Key Collector Comics
← Back to Key Collector ComicsI left a bad review and must of mistaked it with another app, I apologize for my mistake, and have edited my post accordingly.
Nice app, but not worth the subscription that doubled in price this year.
The regularity of the updates on this app has gotten much better. This app is really good for seeing market trends and provides a nice filtered view of the more important new comics. I miss Nick's picks, though. I know it's hard to pick comics that might be increasing in a flat market, but it was always nice seeing someone's opinions.
very detailed database, takes abit to get used to the search methods but is great to use after you know how! I wish it had options for adding graphic novels with multiple issues as one entry, or atleast the ability to make a list within a collection to group together issues from a single collection issue.
Doubling their prices when there are better apps out there for keys. Go elsewhere once they bang you with the increase which will be your next renewal.
So many great features. But the most important feature is the worst functioning feature...the scanning of comics. Absolutely awful. It often takes 10-15 sometimes 20 attempts to get the book you scan to come up. This desperately needs fixing. Until it does, I will be using other comic collection apps.
super helpful, gives me accurate prices, quick and easy to use, 10/10
lower the price. If you are going to double the price, at least have the correct prices on every comic. it's 2025 ai should be doing it for you.
Great app and developers. They list to their customers. That's hard to find in businesses these days. Keep up the great work KCC!
so far the scanner is mediocre, I can't seem to find out how to get a shareable link for my wantlist or my collection. seems kind of generic. sometimes it takes 20-30 tries to even get the cover to ve recognized. it defaults to $2 on most comics it doesn't know, and even though it says It can find values on cgc if you become pro, it's bs. it has no idea values lol. extremely rudimentary app, better off using free Google sheets and just doing it yourself. not worth the 20 bucks.
Decent app, wish there were more like it in the app store, but IT CRASHES EVERYTIME I USE IT. VERY FRUSTRATING. Oh well, I'm not paying for an app that crashes everytime I use it. EDIT: I've reinstalled it three times, I'm not wasting more time on trying to make it work properly. Oh well. ***Edit: The newest updated version is just awful, I hate that nothing is showing up in any search until I adjust the filters now. This app is useless. I'm deleting it.
The app provides some good information for comic collectors. But it also has major stability issues. Expect slow page load times, frequent freezing, and app crashes. 2 stars since I'm paying for the service and customers may only catalog the comics that key collector decides to allow, and that's not a lot. Currently only able to catalog a small portion of my collection. Adjusted rating to 1 star due to developers response. Blaming Google when Key Collector is the only app with any issues.
I absolutely LOVE this app! It gives you detailed info about any and every comic you can think of! You search the name of a series or character and boom, a beautiful, detailed list of all the key issues in that run. The layout is user friendly and super easy to use, I honestly can't say enough good things about this app! Anyone who collects comics should have this app, it's very helpful! The prices may not always be 100% currently accurate, but there are links to eBay that show current prices!
It's an excellent app, and does a great job of doing it's purpose, but some comics aren't on there, particular Sonic the Hedgehog and Mega Man comics made by Archie. There is no way to add comics yourself, so all I can get is volume one of Mega Man. Also, I read comics digitally, and there is no digital comic option when you add comics to your collection. Otherwise, everything is fine.
I am not personally happy with the app. I am a long time comic collector. Here is my experience. I initially subscribed for a year. I noticed that alerts may sometimes contain errors or poorly vetted info (i.e., baby Naomi, Sleeper destroyed). When things come to light, the alerts may be deleted without alert that there was an edit. Trusting the app blindly has the potential to lead to poor purchasing decisions. When I discussed an issue with the developer on social media, I got muted. YMMV.
I wish it didn't crash everytime I use it. It just freezes after a couple searches as I scroll through. Otherwise, it's a valuable tool, even if it's time consuming because of that. Wish they didn't include "iconic image" books that have that as the only reason for being key, but others may not agree with me on that. Update 4/29/22: sorry for the delay in replying. Yes, it got better but still crashed on occasion. I see you've updated it again, so maybe that will help, thanks!
Not good for pricing comics. Key collector focuses mainly on keys which is great but I am not happy overall with inaccurate values on books, especially the modern age. They also fail in placing any importance on variants unless it is a ratio variant. My biggest problem is when I had tried to submit a key that is not in their database, I had received no response. I am going to look for other apps...
Loads of things are listed as keys, I wish you could filter by selling over cover price, or maybe over $10. Also wish you could filter by more recent, like maybe within the last month or year, something like that. There are quite a lot of lists to look at, almost overwhelming. I agree with someone else's comment it would be useful to be able to have favorite categories/lists at the top
app looks and layout are great. search function is straightforward with different options but hard to find the comic you're looking for even with accurate info. can't find half of what I'm looking for to add to my collection. I don't know if paying for the subscription would make it any better, maybe. needs a barcode scanner or cover scanner for manual input.
