Description
I’ve been using KosherScan for a couple months now. It’s basically an app that lets you scan the barcodes on your grocery items and find out if they’re kosher or not. Pretty solid if you’re into keeping kosher.
Here’s how it works: you just open the app, scan the barcode, and it’ll either tell you if the product is kosher or not. If it’s not in their database yet, you can take a few pics and submit it to get an answer from a rabbi. There’s also a browse feature where you can see products that have already been approved. Super convenient.
Look, if you keep kosher, you’ll probably find this app really useful. It’s not perfect – the database could be bigger and the interface is a little clunky. But overall it does the job and saves you from having to look stuff up online or ask your friends. Worth checking out for sure.
Editor Opinion
I've tested a bunch of shopping/grocery apps and KosherScan is one of the better ones I've seen for keeping kosher. The core barcode scanning and lookup feature works well, and I like that you can get answers directly from rabbis. And the interface could use some polishing, but it's easy enough to use. Doesn't have all the bells and whistles of some other apps, but if you just need a quick way to verify if something is kosher, this gets the job done.
