So here's my take on Learn to Read - Duolingo ABC. I've tested a bunch of kids reading apps and this one's pretty solid. I like how it takes the Duolingo approach of making learning feel like play, with the bite-sized lessons and variety of activities. The personalization is also key - it adjusts to keep your child engaged. In my experience, it's a great supplement to classroom learning or for kids doing remote/homeschool. Only real downside is the ads, but you can pay to remove them. Overall, highly recommend giving this a look if you're in the market for a reading app.

Description

I’ve been using Learn to Read – Duolingo ABC for a couple months now. It’s basically a reading app for kids from preschool to first grade. Basically, you get these bite-sized lessons and games that teach the alphabet, sight words, phonics, and all that good stuff. The stories and activities are pretty engaging – kids won’t even realize they’re learning, it’s that fun.

Here’s what you do: there are over 700 reading lessons you can work through, and the app personalizes it for your child’s level. And you’ve got multi-sensory stuff like tracing letters, drag-and-drop exercises, and more. There’s also mini-games sprinkled in to keep it interesting. And the whole thing is designed by the same team behind the Duolingo language app, so you know it’s quality.

Look, if you’re looking for a fun way to get your young kids reading, this is definitely worth checking out. It’s not perfect – the ads can get a little annoying if you don’t pay – but overall it does the job of making reading practice enjoyable. Definitely recommended if you’ve got little ones learning to read.

Biggest issue is that it needs to let kids keep trying to write instead of switching it to auto-line mode when they don't get it after two tries. Kids need...
