Reviews for Letterboxd

Lucky Punk Productions – OneManBoxOffice

I like using this app to log movies that I have seen, and also write reviews. However, I could not use this app without having to use DuckDuckGo's App Tracking Protection to not only prevent trackers (in which there are thousands of attempts to try to track me, which is highly unacceptable), but also prevent ads from suddenly opening up another browser. And no, Letterboxd, it's not on the user's end. Please fix this app so it isn't so intrusive.

Their Lists feature is nice, but needs a major overhaul. The biggest problem is that new entries to lists does not save half the time. They literally have a Discard button if you try to back out, but no "Save" button, just checkmarks that don't work half the time. Very frustrating adding 400 movies to a list to have it not save after hitting the checkmark. Just make a damn Save button and have it actually SAVE. Jesus Saves. Be like Jesus. Save.

so the app was great at first until one day I got randomly signed out and now have been completely unable to sign in on my phone. Even when using a web browsing app, it refuses to accept that my info is correct even though it is. I have changed my pw so many times and it never matters. I guess I can still just use the website on my laptop but it's certainly a lot less convenient and also very annoying. I've looked into it too, and not only does this happen to A LOT of other people, plus no help

number one issue with this update for me is the design of the instagram story sticker for when I'm sharing. the stars are too small now and the bounding box for the text is way too wide so long movie titles go too far out on either side. the app is overall better designed and functions better than before but I do miss the highlighted reviews on the movie page.

Edit: The new interface takes a lot of getting used to, but the big downgrade is that the green plus button is just another search button. So instead of being able to instantly add a review from the film's page, the green plus instead makes me search for the film I'm already looking at. Old review: I've learned to love this app but now it has actual pop-ups. I don't mean the ads. I mean a real-life webpage automatically popping up once the ad loads like it's 1998.

I'm not mad, just disappointed. Love the idea of letterboxd but this app needs a LOT of work. Nothing is intuitive, the menus make no sense, good luck trying to find your friends and sometimes the ads just make it unusable - not as in "I hate ads" but in a "the ad isn't loading and making the app literally unusable". It's 2025 guys, AI can make a better app than this.

Since the 3.0 update: filters do not work consistently, the 'back' button does not work consistently, poster icons are so small that it can make the titles difficult to read, the vertical cast list causes tedious scrolling to get to the related/similar films sections, load times are longer. Overall, a big disappointment for a once well functioning app.

look, I love letterboxd..pay for premium, etc. this latest update has made me want to uninstall. not saving spot in list, search button seems to be in a weird spot, also I keep hitting the "+" to add activity for a movie... but no you have to go into the menu for that?? also not being able to see reviews on the homepage for movies is like... a huge part of what I used the app for. please change it back 😫

I love letterboxd, I pay for patron and use it all the time. However, ever since the new update there have been so many bugs that I honestly just can't use it as much. The filters on lists no longer work, the giant navigation bar takes up so much unnecessary space, and everything is smaller/on the opposite side of the screen. Like I said, I'm a loyal fan of letterboxd, but ever since the new update it has simply not been enjoyable.

Not a fan of the most recent ux overhaul. The ever-present nav bar and oversized banner feel like a huge waste of screen real estate. I see the intent with the new movie pages, but I'm seeing less of the information I care about on viewing. Bring back top reviews and the cast/crew carousels. I can't prove that this is due to the update, but I have also been seeing a lot of 'Error loading film - unexpected response' errors, which I haven't seen in the years I've been paying for this app.
