So here's my honest take on LightMeter. I've tested a bunch of photography apps and this one's pretty solid. The reflected light metering works really well, and the incident light mode is handy too. And it's not as advanced as a dedicated light meter, but for the price it gets the job done. The interface is simple and intuitive, and it hasn't crashed on me yet. Only real downside is the accuracy can be a bit spotty at times, but overall it's a great little tool for photographers on a budget.

Pros

  • Tons of ISO range from 3 to 6400
  • Both incident and reflected light metering modes
  • Low light alert is really useful
  • Mutes camera shutter for silent operation

Cons

  • Accuracy can be off compared to a dedicated light meter
  • Limited to devices with compatible camera/sensors
  • Gets repetitive after a while

Description

Been using LightMeter for a couple months now. It’s basically a light meter app for photographers, especially old school film shooters. Pretty solid app if you’re into that kind of thing.

Here’s what you do: you can use it to measure the light levels in your scene, either reflected light off the subject or incident light hitting the camera. And there’s also a low light alert which is pretty cool. And you can mute the camera shutter sound – took me a while to figure that out but it’s useful.

Look, if you’re into photography and need a light meter, you’ll probably like this. It’s not perfect – the accuracy can be a bit off sometimes – but overall it does the job. Worth checking out if you want a cheap and easy way to get accurate light readings for your analog or digital photography.
