Reviews for liveBPM – Beat Detector

This is the best app I have found! I have been playing drums live for 30 years and this app does exactly what I needed! It's not a metronome, it's a musical "speedometer". It lets me know if I start rushing or dragging. Fantastic!

Works perfectly. Tested with several known beat tracks and detects. Very well. I will be using this for playing live and/or practicing. Also using to record some vintage drum machine sounds from a 1975 Baldwin Fun Machine that uses a potentiometer that controls the BPM and doesn't directly let you choose the exact BPM. Thanks for making this.

Works great as a speedometer when playing gigs. I put it on a cymbal stand w a clamp and tells me in real time if Im rushing/ dragging etc. Also works great on anything with a tempo especially watching a band to see if the drummer is solid. Simple app that does what it says it does

Been using this app for years well worth the price. Great for the gigging and practicing musician it's a great way to keep the song in check. Only request would be to add a portrait orientation option and perhaps a dark mode for on stage?

Would be 5 stars but...after using it twice in a day it comes up a blank screen when trying to open the app. I even tried a force close. The only thing that fixes the issue is a restart of the device. I am an android user on the Samsung Galaxy S9 plus. This happened on my previous device as well.

Fantastic app! I tried several other BPM apps to automatically read out BPM's of my hip hop vinyl records and none of them worked - not even close. The only thing that worked was to manually "tap" an app to count BPM - that is certainly not something I want to do. liveBPM worked immediately and it's FAST. Within 4 bars of most vinyl I tested, it knew the BPM. Perfect for setting up my records before a set to put them in BPM order. Money well spent as it saves me tons of time.

I've used this now for a couple of years as I play drums. Though my tempos are pretty consistent, the band I was with at the time needed me to be even more so. Since using LiveBPM and it has changed my drumming life. I have it installed on my android phone so it is with me all time; I never play a gig without it. At first I wanted to look at it constantly, but now I just glance at it when I feel a change to check myself. But it's not a metronome that you follow, it follows you. So it has helped me by allowing me to feel my speeding up or slowing down and make the adjustment. Kind of like letting me make the mistake and fix it instead of dictating what it wants me to do. A must for any drummer since we are the keepers of the time! BTW Daniel, how about versions for Windows and Linux?

My music teacher told me to work on my timing. I thought my timing was fine. LiveBPM gives me an objective way to measure my tempo while practicing. Played a few measures for 3 minutes and the graph was far from the flat line that would have showed perfect timing. My music teacher was right. But now I have a tool to correct the problem; being able to measure and graph my honest playing tempo. Even though this hasn't been updated recently, it works beautifully on Android 11 One-UI 3.1.

Love this! Use it for live gigging and rehearsal for drums. Could you not have it change from 159 to 80 (halftime beat)? That's right in a common bpm zone for me and it's annoying. Slight delay picking up beat but it's pretty accurate. Thanks!!

Performs an essential musical performance task and the display is easy to understand even with most of your attention on playing. Just noting that there have been no updates since 2017, and with the latest Android upgrade, it stopped working until I reinstalled it . It now gives a notice on install that it may not be compatible with the latest versions of Android. I rely on it, so hope it keeps up with Android and continues working. Do the developers need support for an updated version?
