Last year I was on vacation and my Boat mounted GPS quit before I could make it out fishing and no one area had a decent one in stock in the brand I wanted. I took a chance and downloaded app to Samsung phone phone. I was able to navigate for a 3 day weekend trout fishing. We were in an area that markers were far between. I still prefer my boat mount, but keep this on phone for backup. I would recommend that any angler have this on phone. Things can happen on the water before you realize it and back up safety is priceless.
Reviews for Lowrance: app for anglers
← Back to Lowrance: app for anglersCharts and shading are nice...but it doesn't work as advertised. The record a trail feature does not work AT ALL and will not record a route ever. I let it run for over 60 minutes and still says trail too short. I paid for premium just to use this feature and it does not work. The gps position just stays in one place and doesn't move with you. I have to restart the app every time if I want to plot a waypoint just so the gps will lock on my current location. Don't waste your $ unless they fix it.
Definitely an awesome app for using Lowrance products easy to use and definitely fill of useful information
The app work just fine until they suddenly removed the gps feature from the free subscription which nearly killed us on a night at sea. Navigating at sea became really difficult and reaching our saved fishing points was impossible. I've have been using the app for so long and it was so good. But now not so good anymore. It has caused me some safety hazard at sea and that's really worries me.
Keeps on pausing. then it stops working
The app works ok. Great for dropping pins to reference later. Used it on a Northern lake last year with no cell service, so had some pains loging in, etc. So got the pro version this year that is supposed to work while offline. Upgraded and made sure the app still worked. Got up to the lake and it wanted me to log in. Couldn't without network connection. Pretty pointless effort.
awesome to be able to plot trips from app and download to boat if needed.
Won't synch across devices I'm logged in to the same account on my ipad, my Android phone and my Lowrance HDS live. They all have different waypoints. I've been. Adding a waypoint every now and then to a different device to see what happens. They are all different... I paid for a premium subscription a few months ago. Please don't ask me to contact the support team, it doesn't help.
I'd imagine it would be good if you could access mapping. paid subscription and get nothing except a weather report!
Love this app. Unfortunately, after spending a lot of money on the unit, the annual Premium version access fir the app is a bit pricey otherwise I would have given 5 stars.
Location is not accurate and gives a large circle of error. Adding a marker zooms back out to the full map so you cannot see the exact location. Routing is straight line so good luck with that one. App always points you to purchasing more items and it is very frustrating. This app and C-Map are identical yet it logs you on to Lowrance. Buy, buy and buy is all you get. Paying top dollar for the unit, you would expect a much better supporting application.
Signed up for the trial, before committing to purchase. However, the app freezes after plotting waypoints, and closes everytime. I keep getting notices on the phone saying the app has stopped working. It won't connect to my HDS Pro without freezing and shutting down, after the app shutsdown, you have to try connect again. I wont be wasting money at the end of the trial period.
Lots of cool features, but kinda pointless when the app won't scan the QR code on the unit to register it to the app. There should be another option to join the two. I emailed the app support email provided on the Play Store and got no response.
Limited Backward Compatability Does not support HDS gen 3, previous app had been running just fine on an iPad 1 until it went for a swim last week, bought a new tablet and the new app will not connect. So I'm supposed to just chuck everything and start over now? No reason why they can't keep the old app available and state that it's no longer officially supported.
It is buggy and only works when it wants, takes forever to sync with the fish finder and is a struggle every time even with auto remember on I have to reset the connection and it wants to re-register the device. then there is the subscription fee stated $18.99 annual fee but when it comes to it wants to charge $79.99 my biggest regret was not to go with a Garmin as all my friends have their navionics app works. Plus no weather info the main reason I went with Lowrance was weather updates.
DO NOT BUY!!!! As soon as the free trial was up the app quit working and the server said it would be down for til June 25 (nearly 10 days) all started during planned vacation from work and the app is down the whole time. What genius at lowerance figured farthers day would be a good time to shut the server down because of low traffic. Lowerance has proven to be unreliable. When you get it working I want this down time and future added to my yearly subscription that was paid for.
Spams notifications. Even though push notifications are turned off in the app, it displayed a bunch of notifications trying to sell the premium subscription. Doesn't matter what the subscription does, if the app can't follow it's own settings, there's no way I'm paying this company more money. Help & Feedback section of app hangs when trying to submit feedback.
Great app. The more I use it and figure it out the better it gets. My only complaint would be, I wish they would give us all the waypoint icons that are on my units. I have a waypoint management system that I use were a icon means a certain thing, and I know it's that by just seeing the icon. But I love the app. Small things that make it better every update.
Seems unfinished. I have the premium version and the waypoint routing routines are pretty awful. Your list of waypoints are automatically numbered but when you look at them on the chart there are no numbers. The whole "simplify route" concept seems half-baked not even sure what they're trying to do. looking at the chart on your phone is about the only thing it can do right.
This app has gone downhill since last summer. Despite having paid for the premium version of the app, I am unable to create a proper water route. I can enter a starting point and destination. The app then plots a straight line from starting point to destination, going over land. I am unable to add other route points. I followed the directions. Nada. I tried to leave feedback with Lowrance but the feedback page wouldn't let me submit my feedback. I tried 4 times.
