Why a 3 rating? The exercises are much better than most similar apps, and the daily workout is quick, challenging, fun and varied; HOWEVER, denying access to your personal, cognitive analysis/quantitive data unless Premium is purchased is pretty much rubbed in your face throughout the app, and ultimately leaves you feeling like you are missing out on a lot (their selling strategy), which quite frankly sucks...more than most similar apps.
Reviews for Lumosity: Brain Training Games
Some of these games are as addicting as tetris. They are cute too. For example, there's one with identical coy fish swimming slowly in a pond. A piece of food appears and you click on a fish to feed it. Two seconds later, you get another piece of food, and you try to feed each fish only once. The sound effects, soft music, and animation are generally very pleasant. There are several games you might really enjoy, but it does take the makers a long time to develop new ones.
The games on here challenge your focus, attention, memory, speed, and a number of other essential cognitive skills. The number of games are limited, but each focuses on a different cognitive skill. Some are "more fun" than others, but that just means the "less fun" ones are likely something I could stand to train more. Very fun, but can be challenging!
Great game, but I'm not sure if it's worth the subscription. Notes for the developers: - Some games, such as Highway Hazard, are hard to play on bigger phones. The warnings are way too high above the street, so you can't see both. - River Rangers do not give proper explanation on higher lever when they introduce more animals. - where are the new upcoming games?
I really love this app and I paid for it for one year with the advertisement of new games. I never saw any new games so I finally canceled my premium subscription and went back to playing basic. I would be more than willing to pay for a yearly subscription if we got new games once in a while. This really does help and I used it as a stress reliever after our home was flooded from hurricane Ian and we had to live elsewhere. Give us some new games and you can make more money!
Where are the "new" games Lumosity? I have played this for years with zero issues ever. I have paid for the Premium version to check out the games that are never available via the free version, than became bored and decided the cost for unlimited access to the games I favored wasn't worth it, and am now back to the free version. New games/content to come? It's been years with no new content! Great app for keeping your brain sharp while having fun and boosting self-esteem via your stats.
Used this app after a head concussion through my speech therapist's office. I'm pretty disappointed it's changed to where you can only access three games a day. Pretty sure you could check out a few in each category, then pay for more advanced/intricate games. If there is a free or cheaper option out there, someone let me know. I'll keep searching.
I've tried a good number of "brain training" apps, and Lumosity has a wide variety of legitimately fun and creative games. Rather than a chore, I look forward to the tests and often play my favorites throughout the day. I also remember playing the "Migration" game over a decade ago on PC, and I was delighted to see how the training has expanded far beyond the simpler games. The current games have been adapted well for mobile, and the Insights are actually useful. I've subscribed premium 👍
I've been using this site since I was probably 14/15 and it's always been wonderful. I preferred when I didn't have to pay a subscription, but I understand the need for it. It *is* worth the money, if you stick to it. Dropped one star because you can only play a few games from a limited selection of genres in the free version. You have to pay to, full stop. I think 1-2 games being available for free in *each genre* would be a good compromise. Fix that and I'll happily give five stars.
In all the ads I've seen for this app, I expected much, much more, and I'm honestly very disappointed. You have to pay for a premium account, and you only recieve 3 free daily games otherwise. Quite frankly, this disappointed me, as I was actually very excited to use this to my ability to learn and process information much quicker, and I thought it might even help my mentality and intellect overall. I just don't see that happening when we're only provided with 3 free daily games, and expected to pay if we want anything else. Otherwise, the app is wonderful--no disruptive adds, neat composition, etc.
