I’ve been using LunarMap HD for a couple months now. It’s basically a super high-resolution app that lets you scroll, zoom, and search through tons of maps of the moon. There’s stuff from the US Geological Survey, NASA, and the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter – it’s got awesome photographic maps and color-coded topographical ones too.
Here’s what you can do: you can search for specific craters, mountains, valleys, and Apollo landing sites. There’s also a real-time terminator line that shows the shadow on the moon. And it’s pretty cool to play around with. But it took me a while to figure out all the features – the labeling and search options aren’t super intuitive at first.
Look, if you’re into stargazing, space, or just exploring the moon, you’ll probably like this app. It’s not perfect – the ads can get annoying if you don’t pay – but overall it’s a solid moon mapping tool. Worth checking out for any lunar fans.
