Used to be a really nice and free drawing/posing reference app. Used it frequently and enjoyed it as it was easy to use and understand. After the update, I was excited about seeing the changes! Upon agreeing to check out the terms and new models, it is a shame to see it all is locked behind pro. I hate to go, but this sorta broke the camel's back for me. I miss the old version dearly.
Reviews for Magic Poser - Art Pose Tool
← Back to Magic Poser - Art Pose ToolThe old version was better. This new version is really difficult for me to use and the models are too sensitive to movenent, and the rotation is really thin, so I end up moving the entire model instead. The UI is very confusing, and it took me a while to figure out how to download a model. I have to keep using this though, as it's the only good free posing app that I've found. Update: The tutorial didn't help, thanks
The app was good, and I'm gonna hold back my thoughts a little bit because I bet the team needed money, I mean, it's a free app. The new app feels so cramped, and while I do appreciate more things, they're all locked behind a paywall like even some of the other things that were free are locked behind a paywall, not to mention it's so confusing. I'm probably gonna look for a different app, but if you wanna spend money on posing apps, then be my guests. I'm sure it's still a good app
Fantastic! I spent 5 minutes checking it out after downloading and I'm already in love with it. The app is fairly intuitive and Wombat Studios (which btw, is an amazing name) sends a link to YouTube tutorials upon sign up. So grateful for the free items that came along with it because it gave me a good sample of what I'd be spending money on if I decided to buy more costumes, hair, clothing, etc. What a thoughtfully designed app!
This app was once one of my go-to apps for posing up a quick reference when I needed it, and now it's of ZERO use to me after the changes. Almost everything that was once free and easy to use, is now locked behind a pay wall. Even the ability to simply change the model to a WOMAN. Used this app for literal YEARS, and now I have to throw it away because the developers got greedy. Not worth downloading in the SLIGHTEST.
This is honestly a really good app and helps me with poses for my sketches but I hate how most of the good stuff cost coins. Not to mention you barely get coins, you can only get them through checking in and it doesn't show up you just have to remind yourself to check in so you might forget to and won't get the coins that day. I'm not sure if you can get coins any other way but that's the only way I've seen. Other than that this is very helpful and I enjoy it!
Recently changed to a paid subscription model where you have to subscribe to their PRO edition if you want more than one model in a scene at a time. Additionally they've apparently made some code changes that absolutely tank my phone's battery, lost over 20% in under 15 minutes using the app. I used to use it all the time but now I could not recommend it less.
Really good for what it is, lots of options and tools to make it easy to get things just right, only gripe is that there isn't much variety between models, most female models are small skinny and thin and most male models are fit or average, aside from the arnold model. As a character designer diversity between body types is pretty important, like muscular females or heavier set males, and vice versa. Not many apps allow you to adjust muscle mass or proportions, it would make a great addition
As a past non-pro needing user, I can easily say that the app has went through the biggest down grade. You used to be able to add more than one model, use female models, have a ton of different options of models, and all for free to! If the app were to become free for everyone, I could easily say I would return, but using the new version, I feel very restricted (because I am). Tldr: don't use if you can't pay
Personally not a fan of the new update, they made almost everything require having to pay for. Can't even do simple things without needing to pay for "pro" or "master" which is even more expensive. Not to mention since they got rid of the in game currency thing I lost all of the stuff I was saving up to buy things, all in all I'm just not much of a fan for this game anymore. Side note: I can't even use more then 1 model anymore
You make every single feature cost money, you can barely even open the app without an add in your face begging for cash. We cannot even get diverse body types without someone wanting spare change. It makes the experience so unenjoyable, I remember this being an easy to use app. But now I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who needs to use pose references as art bases. I had a project i was working on for a good amount of time, then one day it told me I could not open it unless i paid.
This used to be my go-to for making references, but this new update really disappointed me. It added a lot of cool settings, like body-type shifting and more realistic looking models. Really cool features, and I completely understand these being blocked by a paywall. But now I can't even make a female reference without paying? Not to mention getting rid of the anime models, which were the ones I used most...
Over a year later, and I have decided to change my review. This app used to be wonderful, but over time it began to get worse. Basic features such as having multiple models got locked behind a paywall, and I received a generic response. I tried to push through, however, it seems like the more time goes by, the more they decide to lock behind said paywall. That's not even mentioning the extremely limited movement that makes certain poses literally impossible to recreate. I'm deeply disappointed.
In my opinion, people shouldn't worry about the limited options for clothing and hairstyles, that's entirely for you to create! This app should really be recognized as a way to let your creativity and art skills either break through or flourish. I'm not as good at drawing digitally, so I like using this as a way to 'help' my skills grow. And yes I take screenshots of the models and yes I draw over them, but I do try to redraw them on my own after that. This app helps grow your hidden potential.
it was at first enjoyable years ago when first using the app, but because of these "updates" now you need everything behind a paywall. not just a one time payment, it's monthly, so you're not even actually buying anything because you're not owning it. one of the last things to spend monthly is a mobile version of a 3d model app which dozens of others can provide for free. They tried to get more money out of their consumers on an app that was already fine in of itself and now lost more of both.
Great for simple things. Before this, I would model myself, which was difficult lol. Best for just a reference of anything you draw. In fact, I don't recommend using money since references can be found elsewhere. Best posing references! I do, however think that the range for some joints is a little worrisome and look uncomfortable if applied in real life, so be careful. :)
Subpar. For any of the better assets, you have to pay $15 per month, which is absolutely ridiculous given how low quality the morphs and weight painting on models are, $5 per month would be far more appropriate. I wanted something I could use on my phone instead of having to get on my computer, but alas, it seems Blender is still the best option I've got as it gives me full control of the quality of my models and assets while being entirely free.
I used this app all throughout art school. It was great because I could model entire scenes. Then they made previously free features only available with pro mode, which made the app mostly useless for me. I tried to deal with it for a while because I like the way the posing works so much, but with the free version, I'm limited to a single male-bodied model, even though I used to have the option of different gender models and different body types. Looking for an alternative.
I have used this app for YEARS to assist in difficult poses! It USED to be great, but now you can't even use a female model anymore without paying money??? It'd be one thing if just the stylized models and the ability to adjust the bodies were locked behind a pay wall, but to not even have the option to swap the gender when that used to be included in the fee version? It was usable just earlier this year, what the heck happened? I haven't been this disappointed in an app in YEARS! 🤬
Downloaded to give it a shot, was excruciatingly disappointed that only a male model is available for free use, after a forced tutorial "short" video set that couldn't just play and had to be individually toggled to move forward. Controls are difficult with thumbs for rotating parts and seeing what you're doing at the same time. Two 'pro' versions - 'pro' and 'master'.
