Every once in a while there's an update deleting your data or breaking a page. Otherwise it's a decent app to read manga while supporting your fav magazine. edit: going from three stars to one. a recent edit broke my ability to leave comments as now the send button for a comment I'm writing clips above the clickable area of the screen and into the icon bar where my battery percentage is displayed. this is like the third such update where this bug has reappeared. this sucks
Reviews for MANGA Plus by SHUEISHA
← Back to MANGA Plus by SHUEISHA1. Always has error when reading a comment after a chapter. 2. I was reading chapter 100, upon selecting next, I was confused the story seemed advance when I realized it jumped to 145. It happens very often. 3. When app is open for a while, it will show error and the page will not load. I have to restart the app everytime.
I'm suspicious of what the app is doing while reading because it causes my phone to get really hot. This is the first time it's ever gotten this warm. I can watch YouTube or even play games for hours without it getting this warm. Being able to read Manga for free without going to sketchy websites is nice. Only one ad per chapter is tolerable. Though I think it did try to take me to another website once when I opened a new chapter. Kinda sketchy.
Embarrassing user experience. You won't know there's a new chapter of something in your favourites unless you check on the day it comes out. There isn't even an account system, so if you ever plan to use a different device, you'll need to keep track of what you're reading outside the app anyway. Way more loading errors than I've experienced with any other app.
It's a good app, good features, good alternative to normal Manga books. But, I hate the fact that you can't go back and read your previously read chapters and you can't download without a subscription
I use the Manga Plus by Shueisha app to read manga, but the problem is that even though my internet connection is strong, the manga panels and images take a very long time to load, and sometimes they don’t load at all. This issue makes the reading experience frustrating and not enjoyable. Please fix this problem as soon as possible so that users can have a smooth and fast manga reading experience.
App, needs work in the UI department, I got a folding phone for manga but it doesn't fill my screen. I don't like that I get ads for the app itself before I get the synopsis of a new Manga I might be interested in. Speaking on info of the manga, where are the Genres tabs? It's not for me as it only has about 15% of the Manga that I read. If you're only reading the most popular and mainstream manga then I would definitely recommend it.
The fact that this app has a monthly subscription but no possibility to contact customer support is very troubling. The app stopped functioning, it won't load any of the title or favorites, I've tried deleting it and adding it again and now it won't show that I'm subscribed at all because you don't really have a log in option so even though my subscription has been payed until the end of next month I have no way to access or use this app anymore. How is this legal??
Favorite library of every subscription manga app I've used, but also the worst designed. I think giving each chapter 2 free reads instead of one could account for bugs and crashes that occur while reading. I have the deluxe subscription now, so losing my free read isn't a problem for me anymore, but I still get the popup warning messages which I find annoying. The way the subscription is authenticated is bizarre too, I'll sometimes lose access for no reason and have to reinstall the app.
Attention, this app is designed to purposefully force you into a subscription model! Sometimes parts of the chapters don't load and when you reload, it locks the chapter so you would have to pay to read it again. This is an issue in the developer's part that heavily impacts the readers. I literally can't read any manga on there without giving them money. Ill just borrow my friend's physical manga then. The pages are already loaded if theyre printed and I can reread it as much as I want.
The app often fails to load any images. Sure, sometimes the app works just fine, but there have been too many times when the app would either fail to load any images, including the pages, or only loads half of a chapter and not load anything else. Because it'll count a chapter as opened even if the app doesn't load any images, it's impossible to use the free version of the app because you can only open a chapter once. Even though I started paying, it only works about half of the time.
Takes forever to load pages. Sometimes will just close for no reason and make me have to navigate back to the manga and then find my page. It does not automatically reopen where you left off. Hate that there's no offline option for when I'm on the train AND you can't scroll forward and load it before the next stop because it loads so slow. Even webtoons doesn't have this problem and has a better interface. Not worth paying for. Use the free version or find the free stuff online.
It's a very good experience. I can read for free, and some have free first three chapters, where you can read it as many times as you want. the rest will be read only once. But, I can bear with it, since it's free and no need for unnecessary ads before reading. Thank youu so much for creating this app!
It's nice being able to read from a fairly large library of titles, and I've found myself trying out series that normally wouldn't be my cup of tea. The subscription pricing feels fair, and the back catalog of completed works gives me a lot to read. The ongoing series are also very engaging and fresh, so there's always something I can enjoy every day.
Hey Shueisha! I wanted to let you know that this form of marketing works, because I was desperate to read "Sign of the Abyss". I meant to order the volumes in japanese last year, but couldn't justify it at the time. Now that its in the app, I went ahead and bought it happily! One suggestion I would make is to PLEASE raise the image quality. I know it's to combat piracy, but butchering artists work to the point where readers can't make out some panels will only drive readership away.
I went there to read one manga in particular manga, and trying to zoom in to read text is a problem because it would flip between pages without me wanting it to. When I got to episode seven, it said that I could only view once, after it wouldn't be free. After clicking on it, I tried to find a way to look back at it later, since I was working at the time, but I accidentally clicked on the chapters button, thinking it was an options button. Now I can't "reread" two chapters I never read.
I like the "first read is free" system, but it is WAY too zealous with enforcing it. It's really easy to accidentally swipe wrong, and have your phone register is as a "back" rather than a "next page" - closing the chapter and locking you out of it until you pay for premium. Or maybe you want to close it really quick to favorite the series before you forget, or got confused and want to roll back. Or maybe the back button looked too much like a menu button, or you dared to change the language.
The selection is large and reading experience is great, when you're actually reading, but that's where the positives end. This app is completely lacking in any real QoL. Your shelf is just a mess of what you're following, you're not even allowed to rearrange them. They used to at least mark a series with "new" in your shelf when a new chapter released, but they even took that away! Can't search without it closing my keyboard after every single letter. Zooming while reading is finicky at best.
I'm giving it a three because it is definitely in need of some improvements. For example, when I zoom in to read smaller text and start sliding the page around, it'll just go to the next page. Also, there is no account system, I would like to log in to my account on other devices without having to sign up for another subscription, but as of now, that is not possible. I think the price is good, cheap, and affordable. You'll save money using the app and then buy all the actual Mangas.
Image quality is not as high as I'd like, can't zoom in too far, and two-page spreads can't be viewed together. Sometimes it doesn't load a page, and I have to force close and re-start the app which starts the chapter over from the beginning (and counts as re-reading, so it locks you out of the chapter unless you're paying.) $2/month is a fair price to backread any currently running series, at least.
