I just downloaded the app. The layout is cheesy looking. Like a website made in the early 2000's or Facebook/Gmail when it doesn't load properly. Plus, to login you have to go outside to the browser. It'd be more user friendly to have the app programmed to login inside the app without leaving. I gave a two because at least the app does have a vast selection.
Reviews for Manga Renta
← Back to Manga RentaHaving issues with it loading and getting errors for my internet connection yet i am using a wifi connection that has complete connection with no bars missing.. even when I use just my phones internet it will load some parts but others it comes up same as with wifi.. when i first downloaded the app it was fine and loaded with no problems at all.. 🤦♀️🤷♀️
the app is great to be able to support the authors of these works but the app is also extremely lacking. First finding dates for releases is extremely out of the way and not easy to find. it also doesnt provide the release dates of the translated works to give consumers an idea of when future chapters will be uploaded. the app is also very clunky in how it loads and needs quite a bit of quality of life additions imo
The app works pretty well, so far. Has a great amount of titles available. I like that they let you preview some of the books before you buy them. The prices are nice, affordable. Idk why people are leaving 1 star reviews JUST because they have to pay for manga, like somehow the creators don't need to eat too.
I miss the old app. When they made the new one, I lost all of my downloads. So now I have to go back and forth to buy points on the new one and use the old one for my downloads, because there are way too many for me to have any desire re-download all of them into the new app. It would be amazing if there was an easy way to just transfer everything I have in the old version into the new version, or if it were possible to download all the chapters in a series at once, it would really save time.
So I've been in love with this app for a while. However, now not so much. I can't access the mature manga or get updates on it because I need to do it on the website. What?? I have the app so I don't have to go on the website, & can keep my browser open for, you know, sometimes more important stuff or just other things. I dont want to have to go on the browser if I have the app. Thats a waste! I might as well delete the app. Please get this changed back, it's very unrealistic and problematic.
Don't even bother wasting the space on your phone. They put as much money into this app as they did on their website, which is nothing. Spent 40 mins trying purchase tokens on the app without any success (had the same experience on their website, all three times I've attempted it!), it's just not worth the time and frustration.
The interface is simple and a bit clunky, but it works with no problems. As for the content, great scans and translations. The prices are reasonable. The thing I love about this website is some of the money actually goes to the artists/writers! In return, readers occasionally get exclusive art or pages from them!
I love it. Able to read manga you can't find anywhere else. Just wish they would just lower the points prices at least. Would make it easier to purchase with no problem. Buying the books with the points lowered to 💯 for each book would be better than 500 points for each one. 500 points to any higher amount is too much for me. 100 is better.
I've been using this app for quite a whilr now and have purchased quite a bit on here. What's confusing and disappointing is when I get ads for some of the manga that I'm interested in, it shows up on the website, but not the app. That's why I gave it 4 stars and not 5. I would very much appreciate if you guys could change that. Appreciate it!
Renta's app could have great potential in the BL ebook market if they're willing to improve/change their app. Currently the app's UI design is outdated and chunky compare to other manga/comic reading apps in the market. I believe it would really bring more consumers if the app is more modern design and the transition is faster and smoother to the eyes. Plus the pink menu is confusing , e.g. when signed in, there's no Sign Out button only Sign in. The only part is well design is reading, I like the option of flipping page and scrolling down the page. I hope Renta read this as I really look forward to the improvement of this app. But right now , I mainly using other companies' manga/comic app.
I prefer the website for Renta over it's app, even when reading it on my phone. However the app is helpful for when an ad for Renta, with an interesting looking manga, pops up while I'm playing puzzle game, I tap on it and it'll open the page that leads to that manga in the app It's licenced manga you are asking to either 'rent' for a time or own so they do have a cost for most of the manga on the site
Manga apps which sell girl's manga are very rare! Renta is paradise on earth for those! good translations, lots of titles, fair previews, easy to browse, pretty easy yo pay. there's a lot to discover. the artists are suitably rewarded for their work. BUT! prices are way too high for a rented chapter. i would buy a lot more chapters with a fair pricing. the look and handling is buggy, not well enough designed.
I actually enjoy reading on this app. It would be nicer if some of the chapters weren't so much, I understand that the people who make the stories need profit but sometimes its abit much for the amount of pages you get. Saying that I enjoy the verity and range of genre on here, plus it keeps you updated with new chapters that come out, as well as any deals. The only other downside I've found is that you need WiFi to use the app, it won't work using your data.
For the most part the app is fine. Its nice to be able to support artists in this way, and the ability to download books is nice, however i wish there were a way to download multiple books at once and let them download in the background. If i buy a lot of books, then its really tedious to have to go through and download them all individually, as well as having to leave the app open for the entire duration of the download
The list: -Some series never update or take forever (read: years), and there's no notification if the og serialization was cancelled -Some series are sold/rented by chapter, some by volume, some you can rent and not buy, etc. Super inconsistent, especially if you have a preference -No ePubs. Everything is kept on their site, so if they go belly up, so does your money and manga. Can't read offline. -This is a perk: occasionally gives out 100 pts for free if you spend pts semi-regularly.
I've been using this app for a while now and it's serviceable -- I prefer reading on a tablet and it's easier for me to read that way than on my computer so I like being able to download manga to it. It's pretty bare-bones but more or less does what it needs to. Generally I make purchases from my computer then just use the app for reading chapters I've already bought and want to access offline. That said, there are a couple of things I'd love to see changed: 1) Be able to queue up multiple chapters for download instead of having to do each chapter one by one. There's a lot of going back and forth and it's really tedious if you're trying to download several full volumes. Either being able to queue up 5-6 chapters so you can get a whole book at once, or being able to bundle all the chapters of a manga into one volume and download it that way would be a big quality of life improvement. 2) Save downloaded chapters to your device's expanded storage. I read on a tablet that only has like 16gb internal storage. All the other apps I'm using that download content for offline viewing can be set to use the SD card for storage and not take up space which is nice considering how limited the internal storage is. This app doesn't seem to have this functionality so I have to delete things frequently (and considering how tedious it was to download them in the first place that's a bit frustrating).
it took a bit but i figured out how to download manga on the app after the change... you have to download directly from the browser WITHIN the app, you can't do it via an external browser anymore. the interface is still clunky and unattractive, and downloading BL is inconvenient since you can't view the title pages directly — but honestly, i don't really care about that much as long as it works. i just wish i could switch the scroll mode so that non-webcomics can be read vertically as well.
I actually love the idea of having more Manga and supporting the artist but the pricing model is pretty poor. Why would you pay the same amount of money for a chapter when you can go and purchase a full book and read it over and over again. Sorry but I refuse to be price gouged. The model needs to be tiered with the value that you're getting and I'm just not seeing the value yet. So back to Kindle and sublime I go for now. At least there for the same price I can read it as much as I want to.
I absolutely love this app, it's easy to use & loads quickly, plus the ability to download my favorite books is fantastic. I think the only thing I'd change is having the option to download all chapters of a book at once rather than one at a time. I did notice as of Sept. 19th, that the option to buy chapters with money instead of with points had vanished from the cart. I can still buy points to spend on them, & the option is still there on the website, but it is a little inconvenient.
