Drain battery fast. I just updated to the lastest version hopping that the battery drain would be better (was not an issue in older versions) but now this version is even worse because when I start my GPS, the location is off by about 1 mile.... that's really bad and no longer useful to me. I also updated the map (Florida), so not sure if the issue is with the program or the map for the GPS discrepancy.
Reviews for MapFactor Navigator
Downloaded local maps (US) on my S24+ to test and it worked. Interested because you can download maps for offline use. Needed settings so I could download maps for Iceland but could not figure how. I see a map and 3 customizable tabs on the bottom. Long press brings up a menu but settings or maps is not one of them. Tried swiping every direction, single tap , double tap, long press everywhere and could not find settings again. Navigation is simply not intuitive so deleted and moved on.
This is a solid offline GPS app. I have not had good luck with offline navigation apps before, but I was pleasantly surprised with this one...it did not let me down. Some of the speed limits were wrong, but directions were always good. Functionality takes a little getting used to... could maybe be easier, but with time it's learnable. My biggest issue with it is it's not easy to shut down the app completely. That could definitely use improvement.
Too complicated for vehicle radio head unit. KEEP IT SIMPLE. Less buttons and less clicks is safer driving. Look at a GARMIN GPS for reference. Large text, large Speed limits, large destination time. It does work with offline maps and GPS antenna. However, there needs to be a simple way to just enter an address for your destination library. Such as "Enter a new Destination to SAVE" Has anyone from this software developer tested this APP on a head unit with real people?
This is the worst GPS app I have used in recent memory. It soaks up ALL the phone's resources FOR NOTHING. the navigation is horrible as well, if you ever get the thing to find an address. It will not adjust to the addition of way points, instead it just tacks them to the end and NOTHING you do changes that. I paid for the maps, and I WILL GET THAT MONEY BACK. I don't put in "coordinates", I enter an address via standard American Address format. i.e. number street, city, state, zip. I also placed markers for "start" and "stop" directly on the map. Doesn't matter how I found start and destination, it drained my battery to nearly dead in a matter of Minutes, and every time (without exception) I tried to search a route it would lock up.
Used it a few times. Doesn't tell you what the next street is that you have to turn on is. Only gives the distance and direction. GPS is spotty, but GPS works fine in other apps. Map will often stop centering on the car. Response to Dev Response: I'm not wanting to hear the street name. I want the map to show it. There's other issues with the voice guidance even if I wanted that, which I don't.
Very fast customer support, allowed me to transfer my paid maps to a new phone (android), and I honestly didn't have to really do anything myself. GPS works best with the offline, multi line search. One line doesn't really like to work though, and google search doesn't work at all (NOT the developer's fault). Really nice, very useful app!!! Changed from 2-star to 5.
Update: I'm here to review the app not for help. As I said resizing the info bar to Small still too large. Too many useless settings. Won't pay premium for an app not working properly. Can't find all addresses. Doesn't show name of the street you turning next (don't tell me it's on the bottom, it's not there). Many other free choices out there offering better experience 😉
Hate it! Very confusing and cumbersome set up to download needed maps. Once downloaded, found it difficult to figure out how to set destination, and then equally difficult to figure out how to request route. After all that, I was told that no route was found. Both departure point and destination were established US addresses that Google Maps successfully gives me a route between immediately. Far too much trial and error tapping various icons in an attempt to find what I'm looking for.
It works again, yeah! Once again my favorite offline navigation app for Android. Only reason for the missing fifth star is that navigation on foot and with public transit is still more cumbersome than necessary. Would be great if subway stations could be made even more prominent on the map, and with the name of the lines they're on. If I could give 4.5 stars I would have. Please keep improving this, it's getting better release by release.
