Reviews for MarineTraffic – Ship Tracking

I was told to get this app for work. I payed the $6 no big thing. But almost all the ships I need to see are $1 to see for 24 hours. I mean what the heck. I cant help the pilots if I am paying out every day. I may need to see 12 or more in a day. I think I will just wait for dispatch to call. The developers of the app responded to the problem I was having. I feel the fix to be acceptable to me. I was able to get a rough idea when a ship was do without dispatch.

I have used this app to identify the ships moving past me on the Ohio River. With the change to satellite, we now cannot identify anything without paying monthly. No longer worth it. I'll buy a pair of binoculars instead. Too bad, I liked the product and had already paid for the software (but you now also have to pay monthly too).

Do not buy it. I paid for this app, and they've moved the most useful stuff - open ocean posits, behind a further $1/ship/day. So, the app has no use because there are free apps that give you the in-shore/close-to-coast data. Skip this, because you're not paying for data. you're paying for a so-so app. find something else

I paid 5 dollars for this app because I use it to see the location of enroute freighters to our facility to be loaded. It gives me a timeframe to get everyone where they need to be prior to the boat's arrival. Now i see that you want to charge more money to see a more exact location? If you wanted to charge more at the start. that would of been OK within reason, but now I just feel you are trying to squeeze us for more money.

I hate that I paid for this app. It is no better at accurately showing a boats position than free versions. In fact it's worse than most. I need to when a ship is close to my bridge. Sometimes it shows them hours away when they are just minutes away. Sometimes it doesn't show a boat until it is right on me. Other times it shows the boat as sitting at the bridge long after it left. Very disappointed. I would not recommend paying for this app. I wouldn't even want this one free.

As a harbor tour guide, this app is exceedingly helpful. It is very detailed and easy to use. It is popular among all of my coworkers. A few things that would make it more helpful: - the ability to switch between metric and standard (imperial) measurements. Length in feet would be particularly great. -TEUs for container ships. -Maximum passenger counts for cruise ships.

App works really well, even just the free version is extremely useful. Only complaint is sometimes I see a "ghost" ship. What I mean by that is there will be two green arrows, but in actuality there is only one ship there. One will come up as an unidentified vessel, and the other will contain all the information of the real ship. This will correct itself if I adjust my zoom slightly.

I have waited a long time to review this app. I have come to a conclusion. It is a flat out terrible user interface! My goodness, I've never used a program with so many glitches and loading issues. Sucker punch is when I paid finally paid for services in app, i am being told the vessel i am tracking has arrived and departed key west 10 times in 24 hrs! The vessel is 3/4 to Panama... and I had to call the crew to find this out.

The app is very easy and straight forward to use. The free version gives you the basic info such as, position, speed, course, all on the icon. If you click on that, then details, it gives a little more info, along with pictures of the ship. I live on the beach of Lake Michigan, which really makes it handy for me. When I see a ship passing, must often I'll check to see who it is, which is usually from the frequents of around 20.

Was a decent paid app where you could see most of the free capabilities of the web version and with some extras inapp purchase (like augmented reality view) then they lost the shame and now I have a paid app full of ads and less features than before (and web version). Everything is under subscription, even the pictures of the ships are under "payment" (must see an add). The same pictures that you as user provide to them for free. Makes no more sense to buy this app.
