Reviews for MarketWatch

← Back to MarketWatch

This is my original review a few years back: "Very useful app to track stocks, news and do research. Well designed!" But now it constantly crashes shortly after opening. Have to do 3 or 4 times before it stays open. Don't know what has happened, it's too bad.

Marketwatch is a good source for checking up on your stocks and seeing what's happening in the market. I find it to be of no use at all with their articles because they're so conflicting. one day you will read positive stories about issues and then the next day you read just the opposite. It doesn't give you directions and that's disappointing.

Subscribed but app often ignores this and so I cannot access articles until I sign in to WSJ, Marketwatch and Barrons individually. Occasionally signing in works across different. Pretty poor quality tech and not sure anyone from the app reads these reviews so probably won't change ;)

Subscribed with WS Journal's bundle. Content ok. I use it in conjunction with other sources. But app is very buggy. Shuts down, doesn't start up, glitches. Been a problem for months. Really, this is a basic programming issue. Please fix. Also - along with WSJ and Barron's - it CONSTANTLY asks me to reinput my username and password. Every few days. Why. Very tedious.

This app is terrible. A few times a week, I have to restore my subscription. I just tried to create a watchlist and keep getting a message that says the items can't be added at this time. As of 6/11, every article I click on says error loading content. Update I attempted to contact customer service. It's just a chat bot. I'm still stuck having to restore my subscription. Update 9/30/23 The restore purchase option is no longer working.

No longer about the market or economy. It seems to be solely focused on politics now. If I wanted that I would download CNN or Fox. The app has no more value. That being said, I get random duplicate notifications from the app, their notifications are always later than my other finance apps, and the app currently only displays the 10 stories at the bottom rather than the normal page that goes through today's top stories.

I've been using this app for a long time and across different platforms. It worked good. Lately, it started to act weird and at the end I cannot open it anymore on my phone. I did try to reinstall but still something is not right. Although, Windows version is working fine. Removed it from the phone for now.

Updated/Reiterated to 1 "star" due to slowness as of 10/2022... Previous review below. Updated to one star (1/2022), because it is so slow, sometimes it just hangs and never actually opens. Continously logs out. Very annoying. The idea and layout are great otherwise. There could be more real news and less automated news, those stock price movements are not real news. I've had it, now on the lookout for another app to track my stocks, even could be my brokerage account.

When I tried to register, it keeps saying my email address have been used, which isn't. Once I registered using a different email, I noticed the UI is difficult to use and navigate. There are so many layers it becomes ridiculous. It has a psychic feature that allows the app to predict market events before it happens. It appears the authors are paid to write one sided news!

It used to work, but since the last update it will not open now. Very frustrating I've tried many things. Will have to delete it. Update: tried loading it again. I can get it to open now, but it won't load any of my stored funds. it just says there's an error in to email them. Update 6-24-19 it opens now, but the watchlist still does not work. what a shame.

This app I'm sure works great if it did work :) I had to delete the all of the memory on the app because whenever I launched it, it would just infinitly load. You'll have to log on the app in order to get in and then log in again to see your watchlist(sometimes). And that's if you're lucky. There's also an awesome bug where you watchlist just says error and everything you try to reload it, nothing happens. The who reason I got the app was for the watchlist so I can frequently check prices.

What has happened with this app?!!!!!! You can't make changes to your watchlist. It glitches all the time. It seems like one set of tech engineers are on the WSJ app, which is excellent, and the B team has Marketwatch? You try to open up a notification and it just spins and spins. Won't open and eventually freezes. Sometimes you can can comment on an article... Sometimes you can't. This is my 4th or 5th lousy review.

The website used to be a nice tool and responded quickly. Now, there are too many ads, and the quick graphs don't work or update. The app has fewer quick graph options, but they work. If you pay for the subscription, why all the ads? I am looking for other options, though I have really liked the articles and Barron's. I would recommend you look elsewhere also.

It's alright. Sometimes it gets glitchy and I can't log in. Also I don't know what's the limit for reading articles for free or the time frame for when that limit resets. Like is it 5 articles per month? Once you go over the limit though it's really annoying you might as well stop using the app until next month. And forgot about buying a subscription, it's expensive.

Quick market data updates with interesting articles. Sometimes it seems like the articles are focused on Chicken Littles, "the sky is falling" and I've made some bad investment decisions because of this, but I realize the stock market is like the weather, even with all the investment broker opinions, it has a mind of its own.

Saw an article come up about a massive dip on a particular stock, so of course I rushed to go and buy but the dip hadn't even happened yet and I ended up buying at a higher price! Not that it matters because I'm a collector and holder of this stock at any and all prices. But seriously, if you're going to take part in market manipulation, at least get your timing down.

I got the app for access to Barrons and while you can access most Barrons articles they don't show up in any order. Also you have to continually go back to the start to pick another article to read. I expect I'm going to cancel the subscription. With the dow Jones company that process is always a pain. Finally they don't have an app for kindles even though the magazine was available there. Amazon is in the process of discontinuing the service. Too bad a I really do enjoy it.

Since they removed the news features unless you pay, the app is only good for checking my watchlist, but half the time the watchlist doesn't load, so what's the point? They may have fixed some of that reliability recently, but it was broken for months. On top of that the information is just less complete than the web page for the same stocks. Better off just going to their website if you want the information quick and accurate.

I don't want to ruin their rating, but it was a waste of time for myself. I just wanted to track a few stocks, assets, and crypto. They don't support crypto etc and i really don't like signing in or signing up just to see the value of something. Some people might like your news, propaganda, etc; but you have to give them the fundamental asset information first.

For a 'Market Watch' app, it seems to be giving more political biased reporting than it should. I get random stories about non market things, which is not what I downloaded this app for. It has become nothing but a spam notification generating application. I wish the reporting was focused on the market, not tax filing, not politics, not where to get the cheapest fast food burger. The app also seems to crash at times, making it unresponsive or closing all together. Off to find a replacement.
