So here's my take on the MBTA mTicket app. I've tried a bunch of transit apps and this one's pretty solid overall. The core functionality works well - buying tickets, checking schedules, getting alerts. It's not the prettiest app but it gets the job done. The ability to easily transfer tickets is a nice perk too. The main downside is the occasionally confusing UI, but you get used to it. If you rely on the MBTA regularly, this app will make your life a lot easier.

Description

Been using the MBTA mTicket app for a couple months now. It’s basically a mobile app that lets you buy train and ferry tickets right on your phone. Pretty solid if you’re a commuter in the Boston area.

Here’s what you do: You can select your trip and ticket type, enter your payment info, and boom – your phone is your ticket. There’s also a schedule and service update feature, which is pretty handy. And you can easily transfer your tickets if you get a new phone, which is a nice touch.

Look, if you rely on the MBTA for your commute, you’ll probably find this app useful. It’s not perfect – the UI can be a bit clunky at times – but overall it does the job. Worth checking out if you wanna ditch the paper tickets.

interface is garbage. there was a notification I couldn't get passed to actually use the app because of where they positioned a botton

Ed Harper October 19, 2025

unable to create an account in the app. I am using an android phone and chrome browser. screen does not scroll to see the password confirmation dialog or the OK...

Flat out broke. Pixel users cannot access menu buttons due to controls layered under navigation. This is why you QA stuff before release folks.
