Reviews for MEATER® Smart Meat Thermometer

found a meater thermometer in my Airbnb. decided to try it with some steaks. I found I cannot even monitor temperature without signing up for a cloud account. not gonna happen. edit: since the developer responded, I will state that my phone (and probably everyone's phone) has enough storage to save cook profiles of they choose. cloud storage should be purely optional.

was using this product for years with one of the thermometers, no issues, connectivity was as good as could be expected from a wireless thermometer in a hot metal box. my issue is with the newest update, I am required to make an account and sign away my personal data for a product I already bought. absolutely unacceptable, fix your stupid app, you don't need my email address and full name to tell me how hot my steak is.

good accuracy and great ability to monitor the cooking of food. the biggest problem is you can't connect to Wi-Fi as indicated. I watch you tube videos and followed instructions and it's impossible to connect. I need this feature to work because when smoking brisket and I am not at the house, I need to be able to monitor remotely.

Meater Cloud Connection Unreliable on Holidays-- You can set up your probe and remotely. view your cook with another device if they are both signed into the cloud. However, this feature doesn't work on days like July 4th when everybody else wants to barbecue: you'll find that the app has issues logging into the cloud regardless of you signing out and signing back in, or having the latest version of the app or having stable connection. It's unfortunate as the meter system is useful when it works

I used this app one time, and it was continually disconnecting even though I was within 25 ft of the block at all times. I went to use it again last night, and no matter what I did, I could get no connection whatsoever with the probe or block to my phone. I am extremely disappointed in this unit and in the app. I have gona back to using the probe on my Pit Boss and checking it regularly. It never fails, and always works.

Paid over $100 for probe. pay extra if you want multiple steps. didn't know microtransactions were involved when getting a meater thermometer. Call of Duty for culinary utensils. recipes on app aren't that great either. seems like an amateur company for people who don't have time or imagination for simple foods. Will be getting a different probe for cheaper

used to be 5 stars, this all changed when the app started to send me a notification every time there is an update to the estimated cook time. The only way to shut this off is to shut down your volume. not a great idea when you're doing overnight cooks, but with a notification going off once a minute, it was the only way. I like the product but the app needs work.

Almost Good. Terrible app that wants to know your "cook". Just let me see the temperature! This fancy thermometer is terrible. Poor WiFi range and the block turns off all the time because it's draining AA batteries instead of using a lithium battery that could run it for more than a few minutes at a time. What an annoying invasive app for a halfbaked product. Almost good means terrible when you're trying to cook something expensive. I've replaced my Meater with a set of probes from Thermoworks.

After a bad initial experience, I broke down and called customer service. They ended up confirming that my probe needed replacement, and sent me a new one. So now I have been able to use it multiple times, and the experience has been pretty good. I definitely feel like I am getting more consistent and better results with the meat I am grilling. Usually I use this for fish and steaks. The interface is good. It is easy to select the meat type and cooking conditions.

The probe does not hold a charge reliably to work with this app. I've tried to get this product to work for 10 months. Only works 1 of 3 times, and only with enough charge for a 20-30 minute cook. Even when you change batteries and clean thoroughly, no improvement. Customer service is non-existent with wait times over 2 hours by phone and chat. If that busy, this product has real problems. No way to email, just phone or chat if anyone connects from the company side at all.

Incredibly frustrating to use. I've had a Meater thermometer for several years and have yet to successfully use it. The probe is never fully charged (even after being on the charger for days), it constantly disconnects, and the app interface is not intuitive and user friendly. It's aggravating when you have your smoker loaded up, everything is ready to go, and the thermometer refuses to cooperate. I'll stick with my old school instant read, this thing is a waste of time and money.

I would love nothing more than to give meater a five star rating; however, I can't even the three is pushing it. I have both the meater and the meater 2 plus, neither one will stay connected through a full cook. The meater probe won't even connect anymore. I have changed the batteries, researched online and can't find a solution to the connection issue. when I do get connected the temperature is highly accurate. I couldn't even get support.

this device has never worked. first few times I tries using it had 5+ minute updates. then battery died and I lost connection to the probe. after replacing batteries it has never successfully reconnected to the probe. I got the device to work for one cook. then got a new phone and after 2 more updates the device won't connect to the new phone. This thing focuses so much on automation and updates that it barely works.

probes were disconnecting. found from support that mixing probes from 2 different pro duo blocks is not allowed. difficult to keep them straight since they cannot be named, only allow naming once a cook is started. no FAQ or tech info on this scenario is found anywhere on the site. maybe some notes on this rare situation can be added. besides that, they have been working very well, even from inside a kamodo grill!

i always have problems connecting and staying connected. everytime I use it, this happens. it is currently not working at all. waste of 100$ UPDATE 8/1/25.... I have tried to use the meter once again. it shows up on my phones bluetooth list but the app won't connect. Incredibly frustrating. Nothing connects and your customer service support is "offline" and messaging center says it down.

The thermometers themselves aren't bad, but the app is such a pain. I have to watch the set up cook videos and it won't let me skip. It forgets that I've used the product before if I haven't used them in a couple months and I'm forced to rewatch and I can't skip. It also doesn't passively read out temperature on the stand, so the app must be used, no using it like a corded thermoprobe that has a stand. Overall, it is a frustrating product

I use the probe and app infrequently, and every time I want to use it, it's almost impossible to do so. Today, I tried to use my probe, but could not connect it (shows available in Bluetooth settings). I cleared data, eventually reinstalled the app, and now when I try to login (which should not be required!! ... !!!) the app force quits. So it's rendered utterly useless because of a pointless unwanted feature.

The thermometer itself is great. I've used both the android and the iPhone versions of the app. They're both a little glitchy. This one goes off an annoying amount. Any time I exit the app (which is gonna be a lot if I'm smoking a big piece of meat) it beeps at me. It will also beep repeatedly that I have my cook time estimate, no matter how many times I dismiss the notification both in and outside the app. The temp readings are very accurate though. Also love that it stores previous cook data.

it's maximum ambient temperature is way to low. much better products on the market. they are very good at advertising. I've had 4 probes break already. one was bought the others where a gift. I wouldn't recommend buying these. on top of that I've had the temperature of the meat be off by a lot where my Thermoworks pen wasuch more accurate.

The app itself is bad and just got worse. It loses connection all the time with the thermometer, whether you have the Bluetooth connection or the meater+ block. Every couple of minutes I'll check my phone for an update only to have the "No Meater Connected" screen. Then when it finally does connect, the cook is over done. That pushed me over the edge to finally write this review. Over a year later and still the same problems. Hate this thing.
