Only use this bank of you are serious about decreasing your credit score. They immediately report an increase in credit used, even if the statement is not yet due to go out. But if you pay off the card, they will refuse to report the decreased usage. I.e. let's say you charge something for $1000. Next day it will he reported to the credit bureaus. Before the statement goes out , you pay off what you charged, so your statement zero owing, the credit bureaus will show you owe $1000. Utter scam!

I went on my app again bc I thought I was losing my mind. The app was NOT telling me I was late nor that my card wasn't usable. I offered to take a screen shot and send it to the rep. I just made the minimum payment 2-3 weeks prior. Got late fee. Was told ppl have been complaining about this. Great and didn't get late fee waived!
The worst credit card I have ever seen! Charges annual fees, monthly fees, high apr, and intrest on charges for any balance you have. Charges me a late fee of $45 for being 2 days late! Most places give you a few days, but not this company. I would never recommend this card to anyone and definitely would never get one for myself again. I have had mine for years but after reviewing all the fees they have charged me, I closed the account. Do not get this card, you will regret it!!
Its a card, interest rate is too high though! If you lowered interest rate to make it easier to pay off and boost credit score. We would use it more often. It would be more competitive and more popular. I received an email as a response to this review. Requested me to call their "Care" dept. So they could look into it. I did. They didn't look into anything. Should change the name to DON'T CARE dept. No changes except mine to the review for wasting my time. Stay away from this card if you can!
I'm having an issue with my card and no one is answering the "24 hours" customer care line. I tried 2 different phone numbers and after getting past the automated menu it rings exactly once, goes silent, then hangs up.... I need to "pay as soon as possible" according to the email I got. But first I need to figure out why my last payment didn't go through! Is it so hard to at least provide an email for customer inquiries if you don't answer the damn phone!?
I downloaded this app for easy access to my balance and ease of making an online payment versus calling in and going through the automated prompts. EVERY SINGLE TIME I try to login to this app, it says my username or password is incorrect. I have to reset my password every time I want to use the app. I know I'm typing it in correctly, I write it down, I double check spelling, I type it perfectly and I still get the incorrect password message. EVERY TIME. This is super frustrating. Please fix it.
App says my request is invalid (the info is correct). This was after attempting to delete and reinstall 2 times because it wouldn't even let me try to login. It's very difficult to reach any customer service people (1st call tried to help but didn't quite get there, 2nd call transfered me to an hour long hold that hung up, 3rd call hung up on me while talking. 4th call was very helpful tho, give them a raise) The CARE line also didn't pick up. Maybe an email address should be made 🤔
This doesn't work. Every time I try to login it tells me invalid login information but the same login works on the Internet site just fine. I've changed my password thru the app and afterwards it tells me it's invalid... but that same password works on the website. I've uninstalled twice, reset the cache and it still doesn't work. it's unfortunate because I'm traveling so having access to my available balance on the app would make things so much quicker than having to use the Internet.
The guy who said that the complaints here are most likely due to user error has no idea what we've all been going through. Everything was great for me too when I first activated and began using. Worked for quite a while, actually. But lately, the app goes blank and the website times out each time I try to log in. Very frustrating. And Merrick won't acknowledge there's a problem.
Always cautious making online purchases; still, my credit cards have been hacked. I asked my other credit company how to prevent this. They recommended using the lock card feature in between transactions. I noticed the quick freeze on my Merrick card and have been using it but noticed tonight I no longer have that option. I tried deleting/reinstalling the app but still no access. No other problem with the card or app. Support is another story. Had to call 3x before they sent a new card.
Since the latest update, I can no longer log in to the app. I went so far as to change my password, uninstalling and reinstalling, restarting my phone, switching from wifi to data and back again, and completely clearing the app's cache and data. I just keep getting an error that says the request is invalid. I can log in just fine on the website, so it's not me. It is absolutely frustrating knowing there is no logical reason why this should be happening.
Typically I love this app but for the past week or more after logging in everything is blank. All you can see are the words Merrick Bank and Log Out. However pushing to log out does absolutely nothing. I'm using the latest update so maybe that's the problem. I really miss this app because it was the greatest. I can't think of anything off the top of my head that I would change except maybe offer a Help option alongside Forgot Password. Once it is usable again I'll gladly submit a better review.
I see that I am NOT the only person experiencing an issue with this app. I noticed a few weeks ago, while traveling, that the app was not responding as per norm - with longer "processing time" before allowing access. And, the last few times I've tried, I"ve given up and logged in on the computer because the app WILL NOT OPEN, I uninstalled and reinstalled, and still the same thing. So, it used ot be very convenient and easy-to-use, but it is no longer. What a ridiculous inconvenience!
I save my confirmation pages for all my bills on my drive. This app doesn't let you take a screenshot of the confirmation page or the activity page AND doesn't send a confirmation email. It's very frustrating. Other than that it has a lot of features available.
it's been two months now that I cant login one the mobile app. I have even restarted my phone as well as deleting app and reinstalling it. All it does after I hit login is a spinning circle showing just processing and freezes page you can't do nothing but exit app and reopen it. if I login from a computer it works but I use my phone for everything so it's way more convenient and easier to pay online on mobile app especially when I need to make a payment quickly and have no other way to do it.
Used to really enjoy the app. Easy to access and navigate. Not true anymore. Glitches repeatedly trying to login. Having to clear the cash and uninstall restart the phone and then reinstall just to be able to login!! Called the helpline and got someone who barely speaks English and continually put me on hold while they checked with an actual tech who in turn was just as worthless. Really thinking about letting this card go and moving on....
the app is not as good as other credit card companies. It is generic and difficult to navigate. there is no dashboard or home page view that posts important things like previous transactions, fraud alerts, current credit score, or amount of credit left on the account. overall to me it tells you about what is important to Merrick Bank and it is definitely not the customer.
I never leave reviews but feel compelled to do so now. This bank is horrible,run as fast as you can in the opposite direction. Had an issue 2 months ago where they denied a transaction for going over the credit limit by less than $1. Then they arbitrarily hold on to your payments for 2 weeks before crediting your account. I've made 20 payments never been late, but they decided to put a hold on my payments despite the verification from the bank that they were paid. So I have to wait for 2 weeks!
Sometimes I can't find what I want. Have to search. I want to change my auto pay amount. I constantly get denied for purchases. My account gets locked all the time. I can't hit the forgot my password because there are words written over it. I can't see the bottom of the page. This is a VERY frustrating app and company. Even the online website gave me trouble and wouldn't let me im.
The reason for going from 5 stars to 2 is that the new bill payment system for debit cards just isn't all that good. (I.E. it's too expensive I mean, $6.45 compared to $4.45.) Everything else with the app is great! BillingTree (Repay) is the best honestly. Having to wait until the system registers the BillingTree is a hassle. If anything why not add both options for those who like using it? Two buttons, one for the live representative, and the other for Repay? Back to 5 stars once changed.
