way too many ads and they constantly play every time just about I go into messenger and I'm in a hurry to send a message and I can't because of their stupid ads. I was already mad that they forced me to put this on my phone. especially when my old messenger work just fine and had no ads.
Reviews for Messages - SMS Texting App
← Back to Messages - SMS Texting AppI have been using this app for a couple weeks and had no idea that loved ones had sent me photos because they never came through. I've been a Google Play Pass member for many years and was really counting on this. I'm uninstalling it as soon as I find a different one.
Excellent SMS application and operates well on Android versions including Android 6. I am certain the application will serve a broad spectrum of users. Surprisingly it allows settings of standard international languages during launching. Even though KINDLY KEEP GOOGLE STORE APP ADVERTS MINIMAL. Thanks to the developers and will keep you informed on further observations based on my future experience while using the application.
Great app. I uninstalled it when I saw the price for premium! Tried the premium version. Don't waste your money. It's glitchy. couldn't send pictures while I was in a voice conversation could receive pics when in s conversation. This app is a hot mess.
$9.99 PER WEEK for no ads? That's insane! I was ready to subscribe until I saw that and I get too many texts to deal with ads. It's a real shame, the app is almost perfect. The fact that you think nearly $500 per year is a fair price for an app is ludicrous.
So far it's pretty similar to messages+, which I like, but it's riddled with ads, which I hate. I don't want to have to close an ad Everytime I open a text message. This is ridiculous. I miss message+. Edit: Was originally three stars, but the ads are relentless. I can't open the app without 10,000 ads popping up before I even get to my text messages. Verizon sucks for getting rid of message+. I actually dred opening this app because of how many ads there are.
It just so happens I have just downloaded the app, with the utmost caution that is. So far so good; its nice being able to control font and color along with the dark mode and the recieved pop up notification. The only CON I had wasnot being able edit whether you want your messages to display the received, sent, delivered, read, and the 'typing' feature.
Update: I am unable to send picture messages, so I took a star off my rating. Guess I need to go back to Google messages until this issue is fixed. I downloaded this app because Google Messages is so basic and missing a lot of features from Verizon Messages+. I like it so far, but there needs to be an option to bookmark individual messages from people. I like how I can customize colors, and the font matches what's on my phone.
This app was working great for about a day and a half. I didn't get any ads because of my Google Play Pass. I didn't realize it had ads until I downloaded it on my mom's phone for her. She could barely use the app with all the constant popups. Now I'm having issues with the app not sending my messages. If I can't send messages, am I receiving messages? I'm deleting the app and looking for a better option. I can't have something that's inconsistent when it comes to communication!
super egregious ads, and a subscription plan far, far, far more expensive that what it's worth. an SMS app should not cost me as much as a Netflix/Hulu subscription. $14.99 each month just to send SMS messages without ads is ridiculous. Also, ads should not take up the entire screen, making it so the user might accidentally click on them without knowing it was an ad.
The style is very nice (reminiscent of Message+), but the functionality leaves something to be desired. Plain, simple, short texts that didn't need to be divided into multiple parts worked about 97% of the time, but media messages did not send or receive about 99% of the time. I switched to a different message app and was bombarded with dozens of previously unreceived MMS messages that this app could not handle.
I had no choice but to find a new texting app bcuz the one I had with Verizon was ending. The reviews for this app were better than most so I installed it. I wish I hadn't! The ads are driving me NUTS! Sending and receiving texts messages are stressful because I now have to suffer through LOUD and inconvenient ads with almost every text message I open or respond to. If anyone reading this, who was forced to find a different app, has found one free and without ads, PLEASE share the information.
This app is clearly better than all the rest just based on the fact that it's the only one with no ads, it's the same as a default texting app that would come with your phone. It works well. Problem is the print isn't big enough for someone with bad eyesight, there's an option to make the font bigger, but it's still small. Font is bigger than most of other texting apps though, but still not big enough for people with bad eyesight. It's crazy there's a font option and it's still small.
The app is actually not as bad as I was fearing. The only thing I do wish it had was more creative controls inside each of my message contacts, i.e. change the chat bubbles color, type, even background picture for each. Other than that it is the best one I have tried since Messages+ got taken away. I do like that I can pin more than 8 conversions. All of my important people are at the top. I will keep updated as I navigate and use this app.
It sends and receives messages. Unfortunately, there seems to be no way to customize contact color at all - my choices are randomize contact color with no input from me, or set everyone to light blue. I also tried to set scheduled messages - it just sends me to the normal message screen and sends it immediately with no option to set a date / time. 3 stars for basic ability to send and receive messages I guess, but I'm still going to look for a message app that actually has functional features.
I have had this app for a few months now, its great once you pay the for the full services. Without that, the adds can be distracting and inconvenient. However, in place of the adds is a pop-up screen asking for reviews. This happens every few minutes. Recently it blocked recently messaged contacts without my consent, and would re-block them when I tried to unblock them. I had to uninstall and reinstall, that has worked for the last day or so. I didnt have to pay again after reinstalling
Worst messaging app out there! Not only is there a ridiculous amount of ads (unless you pay to get rid of them), but messages I sent almost an hour ago are still showing as "sending." Their "support" is no help at all - they just tried to sell me on paying to get rid of the ads and didn't even address the issue of messages being stuck in limbo. Don't waste your time on this worthless app!
Only reason I am using this app is because the messaging app that came on the phone is being discontinued for some reason so I had to get something else. I prefured my old one over this one. This app is slow. takes a good 8 seconds to even open the app instead of being available immediately. Opening a message feed is also slow, taking about 5 seconds to load instead of being immediate. when I pull up the keypad to type, yep you guessed it, there is a delay. Also do not like seeing ads.
This app seems to have everything I need in a messaging app. It transferred over all my old messages, without random ads. It has all the various ways to alert you to new messages, it lets you schedule messages, and overall I'm just happy with it. I wish we could change the color scheme more or how the chat bubbles looked but those are small things. Edit: None of my photos or videos were going through. Only text messages. so I'd be sending messages not knowing they were not going through
Never been a fan of the subscription culture. If you can't make a simple texting app with a $3-$5 one-time payment to remove ads, then stop creating apk frameworks. The greed of this development team is pretty palpable, considering the subscription is $100/year.... if just 1/8 of the people that installed this were to subscribe that'd be $625,000. Hell, at least Xbox gives you a few extra free games and some perks for all the money you bleed out. But this..... The definition of highway robbery.
