I used to really like this app for my work emails and calendar. However, recently there have been major sync issues. For a while, I was able to clear the cache, reset the app, and/or manually refresh. But that no longer works, to the point that the app is now unusable. I've had to switch to the Gmail app, which works great. If MS fixes the sync issues, I'll definitely come back to Outlook though.
Reviews for Microsoft Outlook
it's so slow it's frustrating. This is after deleting data and downloading on a brand new phone with fast connection. there's random emails that won't show after getting a notification. I have to manually search for the email. GMail has taken over for me. edit: most of my emails still don't show up. if I get 10 emails on a day, I might see 3 of them pop up. I have to sign in on a browser to see them all, which means this app is useless.
They ruined the email app! It's now too easy to accidentally delete an email, as the horizontal swipe is far too sensitive. The email actions have been moved from the header bar, where it was easy to find, use and read to a floating bar at the bottom of the message that is the same white color as the message and floats over the text, making it harder to read. Used to be a good app, but now a pain to use for no benefit!
I like the app, but I'm so sick of the syncing issues. It's been going on for months now. None of the suggested fixes work, including restarting my phone, deleting the app and reinstalling, or resetting the sync settings. None of the app updates have fixed it either. I have excellent service and wifi connection too. It makes the app essentially useless. I really need access to my emails on the go, but this has not been a reliable option.
You can check your email. That's about it. There are a lot of functions that other mobile email apps manage to add, like mass deleting from a search list, that Microsoft fails to incorporate(requested by users in 2023). You cannot change the sort order in your inbox(2022). The widgets do not keep your inbox up to date unless you fully open the app, defeating the point of having an 'at a glance' widget. I would expect a 'leading' software company like Microsoft to incorporate these features.
Outlook could be a nice option for email on android, but it's behavior ior is not reliable. One day it works fine and the next things are different. I woke up to having less menu items. The ability to select junk mail and phishing mail were gone. Support had me delete and reinstall, which is a process. It solved the problem for a week and now the menu items are gone again. The forum tells me there are many with the same experience. I like Microsoft products but heading to gmail Life's to short.
Latest user interface update is a complete and utter disaster! There is a floating menu to move, delete, and reply to emails while the top bar is blank. A terrible change. It is not intuitive, can't be easily done with one hand and you still have to go to the top to click on the three dots in the email to mark it unread, which doesn't work after you've clicked into the email. Now you have to go back to the inbox go into the message again and then mark it unread. If it ain't broke don't fix it!!!
until recently I've never had any problems with this program. But I now have two major problems. When I open any advertising or news email it scrolls to the very bottom of the email. So annoying! Mail from regular people does not do this. The other is I'm not being notified of my appointments on my phone. All of the notifications are configured properly, and when this happens, I will look at my widget and the calendar is showing the wrong day. This has caused me to miss appointments.
Ultimately a great app but recently the Email Widget to show emails on the home screen is broken. It just says "open app to refresh widget. The Calendar Widget for Outlook still is working just fine. This is very frustrating because I don't use the notification dots on the apps, I was exclusively using the Email Widget. Uninstalling and reinstalling did not fix it. Please fix!
It's been almost 2 years since my previous review and notifications still suck. It has actually gotten worse. I dismiss 10 email notifications only to be notified a few minutes later about the same 10. Over and over again. App is useable but not great though I prefer it over the Gmail app. Whoever decided it was a good idea to have the shortcut buttons on top then move them to the bottom when an email is opened should be fired. Stick with one consistent approach.
