Reviews for Microsoft Word: Edit Documents

← Back to Microsoft Word: Edit Documents

I did enjoy using this app for a while, but lately, there's been a few issues. Every time I try to use the Times New Roman font, I get something called "Shruti," and after comparing it, I noticed it's different font, and not just a glitch with the naming. The line spacing is also not working. I have it set to 1.0, but it still comes out as 1.5. would be better if not for the formatting issues.

I love having this app at my fingertips. I needed to update a resume that was in print form, and it needed to be edited, too. Computers that had it on file were long gone. I had a choice to make; either retype it all or upload my hard copy and edit it in Word. I chose the latter. Sure, I had to scan it first and upload the document to my computer as a pdf. There are a lot of steps for getting behind. Well, I had not needed Word for a long time! It really is a great writing tool.

My student account isn't working on the app, I'm unable to open or edit any documents through it even though I can do so perfectly fine on my laptop. The subscription status hasn't changed but now it keep telling me I need to get a 365 account. Zero reason for me to use it at this, there are plenty of other ways to view documents and it's lost all other functionality, but I'm still kinda pissed since I was in the middle of working on assignments when this happened.

I couldn't even "sign up". The app claimed I was offline, which wasn't so. I had several tabs open, connected to the web. I did a search for ABC; ABC News came up; I connected with their website and saw today's headlines. So I bypassed signup; worked offline. But Microsoft Word limited what I could do. The controls weren't consistently responsive. Sometimes they worked, sometimes not. The cursor jumped around randomly; then the edit feature stopped working because I wasn't signed in. Sux.

For the most part the app worked decently except for the cursor jumping around and jumpling words which was annoying enough but within the last month or so I've had frequent issues with the app crashing suddenly and anything I had just been typing is gone. the last couple of days it has been crashing every few minutes making using it an absolute nightmare. Hurry up and fix your app or I'm finding an alternative. This is not acceptable.

Copilot seems to have taken Word out completely. It had many minor but workable annoyances before, such as forgetting chunks of text between mobile and PC or deleting parts of what had been written for no apparently reason, which could not be undone. Ever since they added the AI assistant, it's buggier and crashes every other sentence. My phone recommends disabling the app entirely to improve function. It's that bad. Certainly not worth a subscription, much less one this expensive.

Its a decent app, but no much more use than a note writer other than the fact you can save your document in the widely used format of .docx. My main gripe with it is that when you go back to edit, it can randomly delete words, partially delete words and amalgamate them with another, or add an extra letter onto the beginning of words. It's incredibly frustrating when the action of editing a document on a phone is already a fairly laborious task. Also now randomly closes and crashes all the time

usually my go-to word processor, but it's been so garbage lately. other reviews mentioned how it can sometimes merge words and jump the cursor to a completely different section of the doc while writing, and it's extremely annoying. now it's crashing constantly, and the auto-save isn't consistent enough to catch everything. very frustrating trying to do anything when I have to save just about every sentence or risk losing what I've written.

This app is too busy!! So busy that all the pop-up windows get in the way of productivity. And there are no ways to turn them off. Not only that, but a very annoying microphone sits in the bottom right which gets shifted up when you call your keyboard for you and then you cannot see what you're writing every time your cursor reaches the end of a line. Very unprofessional of you ask me

It opens documents and the read aloud works and that's about the extent of the positives. I have to uninstall and reinstall it every couple of days to get it to do what it's supposed to in terms of like editing and changing the background and basically anything else and eventually if I don't, it will lose the read aloud function, too. Very disappointed.

What do you call a word processor that chaotically erases your work? I'm going to just use Samsung Notes, then paste the text into a Word document, and save it. I'm only using this app because I need it for school. in the middle of typing, the app crashes and loses whatever 1 to 3 sentences I was working on. Then it opens again with the most recent 3 or 4 paragraphs missing. then I open the document again, and find that it was only 2 or 3 sentences that are gone forever.

You just can't go wrong with Microsoft word. Maybe it is because I've been using this since I was, like, 6 years old on my parents old-school desktop computer. But I've tried exploring a LOT of other word processors, trying other options, seeing if there is anything I just might like better, but time and time again I always turn back to this. And it is 10x better then Google Doc, hands down. You can't even compare the two, this one wins everyday, every time, no matter what.

Update. Android Mobile app is garbage. When typing, it changes my words into gibberish, making it grueling to go back and force correct them. Curser jumps, and when I go back to re-edit, it will try to change the last thing I edited and throw it on the next. If I backpedal to redo the whole word, then it changes the word before it, and sometimes the one before that one too. Making the editing process a nightmare. Docs don't sync well from laptop to mobile, say it's an old version and read only.

Recents is messed up. Usually it has all the documents I've stated and worked on in the order they were last opened. Now it might have one that I've started or opened recently. this is a big problem because I don't always name the new documents I start right away, so they get the generic "Document #" naming scheme. Now I have 50+ of those to go through to find things I've started or worked on recently, and trying to navigate and open them 1 by 1 using the Word app is very glitchy.

I've had to work on a long project and don't have time to sit by a computer. I've always had the app on my phone, but I've never used it. I've been using it for the past month and it has been a nightmare. The app crashes all the time: while I'm typing, while I'm editing, while I'm reading; you get the point. I have to have my document backed up on OneDrive, a copy on my device's storage that I constantly save, and I email the link to four different email addresses. Update the app, please!

If you think I'm going to pay 40% more for the same thing then good luck! I'd like to show you where you can shove your subscription. Also, more generally, this app is absolutely horrendous! It's so full of bizarre quirks and inconsistent functionality between web and installed versions such as the cursor constantly jerking around with the absolute worst programmatic touch control I've ever seen. I want to pull my hair out every time I try to use this app.

its Voice to text does not work offline, and i have been unable to find a way around it. So if you're like me, someone who travels a lot and dictates, most of what they are trying to write(because of dyslexia in my case), this app becomes useless. while I was at home It was fantastic, but as soon as I lost Internet connection, I lost the ability to use the app. the worst part is my phone still can still use voice to text, but the app disables the button on my keyboard.

It used to be good, just meh, now. It doesn't do well on mobile if you cross platforms to another app. The worst thing that forces me to find workarounds for is that it doesn’t allow me to use my multiple-entry paste function. Instead, it has its own that - in 2025!- has one entry and it only allows one entry from your clipboard. ONE!! Cleary, they aren’t interested in mobile users at all. All good features require Windows. Other vendors do as well or better and don't abuse personal data.

Not even a toggle for the Equation Editor on mobile, all fields just vanish. I understand the "need" to scrape data, but it's just too much. It interferes with the app's functionality, which is where I draw the line. ISPs are garbage. So when I open a document on data, the weak link isn't my phone. It's the network. I have 16GB RAM, the experience shouldn't be this stuttery. Especially when other, comparable applications aren't this resource-heavy and don't "call home" every 5 seconds...

I was in the middle of editing a document that was already saved. I have autosave on and I had been working on it for a couple of days. I opened the file and was editing, when I got a text from a friend. With the app and the document still open, I switched to my messenger app to text them back and then switched back to MS Word. It closed my file and brought me back to my list of files. My file was no longer there. In fact, any files from the whole week...gone. I can't trust this app now.
