It works ok when needed, but is a bit much for the cost. Could no longer justify the expense of the app, so I stopped using it. Wasn't happy when it auto renewed without warning. I haven't been using the app for about a year. Don't count on getting your money back, because even though I requested it as soon as I saw the charge to my account (just days) they wouldn't honor it...it "doesn't meet with their policy".
Reviews for Mileage Tracker & Log – MileIQ
The app is good in that it measures every inch you drive. However, every time you stop at a red light, it starts a new drive. Drive 15 miles on city streets and you may have to combine 15 drives. Update: they fixed it ..and then unfixed it multiple times and it's even more annoying now. Also, I have had to reclassify all my drives over the last two weeks every day because it keeps resetting. Unfortunately, auto renewed, so I have to figure out how to cancel and get my $$ back. 2⭐ -> 1 ⭐
Good app for what it does...generally recommend the app...but be advised, it is a major battery hog. And, if you try to temporarily turn off the "use location all the time" setting, per a specific circumstance such as a day-long kayaking outing (or hike) where you want to conserve every bit of phone charge you can, it sends a notification saying "something is wrong..." No, nothing is "wrong"...
Was asked to use this by my employer. It's easy enough to use, problem is it doesn't track actual mileage. Near as I can tell, it tracks your starting and stopping point and then computes the mileage between the two. I have to make a number of small side trips either to or from each appointment, but never stop long enough for it to register as a "trip" so those miles don't get included. It's usually only 2 or 3 miles per trip, but over the course of a month or year, that's a lot of miles.
Update 5/31 Most problems have resolved themselves. App still will not select the correct vehicle based on Bluetooth connections. Sub-optimal. Was excited to find an app to help organize my tax records for business travel. Well... Some drives show up 10 hours later, some never do. The Join Drives icon doesn't appear in the app. Auto vehicle detection using Bluetooth doesn't work, it defaults to my primary vehicle every trip. Starting to wonder if this was a waste of money.
This is a pretty good app. I absolutely hate the auto mileage tracking. It's annoying to turn off every time I want it to stop tracking drives. I think the monthly fee to track over 40 drives is ludicrous. Should be a one time fee, if at all. What is there to continually improve to be worth a subscription fee? Just log the trip. That's all I want. Now it's started breaking trips when I get caught in traffic. Using up more of my 40 free trips.
At first, it was great. But it won't stop the bloody popups about drive detection error. Yes, I have battery saver on and I have location off to save battery. But I don't need a reminder about it every 30 seconds. I turned it off for a reason. When I turn it back on before I drive, the app will know. Everlance doesn't do this and I was looking for a cheaper replacement. And clicking the tab to change it in settings doesn't change a thing. I'm almost to the point of uninstalling.
After using for 1 year they are jacking up the price by 50%! Was $59.00 per year and now they want $89.00 per year. Talk about inflation. I'll be going elsewhere thank you. On top of that the app is glitchy at best. It will break one drive into multiple drives as you sit at a light or if you get caught in traffic. I have low confidence in it's accuracy. The one star is for it's interface. It does start and stop automatically and classifying drives is easy.
The app and features are really well put for all intents and purposes. However, you've taken away each users ability to accurately measure day to day travels with your automatic drive detection algorithm. I feel you should be able to track only when opening the app to track distance. Not at all times. That'll allow for accuracy and choosing your drives or vehicles. (On-off feature is better!)
Great idea. Very easy to use. Cost for the app is exorbitant. $60 renewed yearly seems much. Maybe $10, but $60? That said, the app itself is good. It's just not practical to stick with the free version unless you drive less than 40 trips a month. That sounds like a lot, but it's not 40 business trips, it's 40 trips of any kind. :-/ UPDATE EDIT as of January 2025: They increased their subscription cost to about $90/year now! No way the app is worth that. Find alternatives. Insanely priced.
