It works ok when needed, but is a bit much for the cost. Could no longer justify the expense of the app, so I stopped using it. Wasn't happy when it auto renewed without warning. I haven't been using the app for about a year. Don't count on getting your money back, because even though I requested it as soon as I saw the charge to my account (just days) they wouldn't honor it...it "doesn't meet with their policy".
Reviews for Mileage Tracker & Log - MileIQ
← Back to Mileage Tracker & Log - MileIQThe app is good in that it measures every inch you drive. However, every time you stop at a red light, it starts a new drive. Drive 15 miles on city streets and you may have to combine 15 drives. Update: they fixed it ..and then unfixed it multiple times and it's even more annoying now. Also, I have had to reclassify all my drives over the last two weeks every day because it keeps resetting. Unfortunately, auto renewed, so I have to figure out how to cancel and get my $$ back. 2⭐ -> 1 ⭐
Good app for what it does...generally recommend the app...but be advised, it is a major battery hog. And, if you try to temporarily turn off the "use location all the time" setting, per a specific circumstance such as a day-long kayaking outing (or hike) where you want to conserve every bit of phone charge you can, it sends a notification saying "something is wrong..." No, nothing is "wrong"...
Was asked to use this by my employer. It's easy enough to use, problem is it doesn't track actual mileage. Near as I can tell, it tracks your starting and stopping point and then computes the mileage between the two. I have to make a number of small side trips either to or from each appointment, but never stop long enough for it to register as a "trip" so those miles don't get included. It's usually only 2 or 3 miles per trip, but over the course of a month or year, that's a lot of miles.
Update 5/31 Most problems have resolved themselves. App still will not select the correct vehicle based on Bluetooth connections. Sub-optimal. Was excited to find an app to help organize my tax records for business travel. Well... Some drives show up 10 hours later, some never do. The Join Drives icon doesn't appear in the app. Auto vehicle detection using Bluetooth doesn't work, it defaults to my primary vehicle every trip. Starting to wonder if this was a waste of money.
This is a pretty good app. I absolutely hate the auto mileage tracking. It's annoying to turn off every time I want it to stop tracking drives. I think the monthly fee to track over 40 drives is ludicrous. Should be a one time fee, if at all. What is there to continually improve to be worth a subscription fee? Just log the trip. That's all I want. Now it's started breaking trips when I get caught in traffic. Using up more of my 40 free trips.
At first, it was great. But it won't stop the bloody popups about drive detection error. Yes, I have battery saver on and I have location off to save battery. But I don't need a reminder about it every 30 seconds. I turned it off for a reason. When I turn it back on before I drive, the app will know. Everlance doesn't do this and I was looking for a cheaper replacement. And clicking the tab to change it in settings doesn't change a thing. I'm almost to the point of uninstalling.
After using for 1 year they are jacking up the price by 50%! Was $59.00 per year and now they want $89.00 per year. Talk about inflation. I'll be going elsewhere thank you. On top of that the app is glitchy at best. It will break one drive into multiple drives as you sit at a light or if you get caught in traffic. I have low confidence in it's accuracy. The one star is for it's interface. It does start and stop automatically and classifying drives is easy.
The app and features are really well put for all intents and purposes. However, you've taken away each users ability to accurately measure day to day travels with your automatic drive detection algorithm. I feel you should be able to track only when opening the app to track distance. Not at all times. That'll allow for accuracy and choosing your drives or vehicles. (On-off feature is better!)
Great idea. Very easy to use. Cost for the app is exorbitant. $60 renewed yearly seems much. Maybe $10, but $60? That said, the app itself is good. It's just not practical to stick with the free version unless you drive less than 40 trips a month. That sounds like a lot, but it's not 40 business trips, it's 40 trips of any kind. :-/ UPDATE EDIT as of January 2025: They increased their subscription cost to about $90/year now! No way the app is worth that. Find alternatives. Insanely priced.
1) It works well but not great. It seems to think that when you stop for a red light, it's a destination. So even though you actually went to a specific end point, of you stop at 2 lights then it shows as 3 trips. 2) It does not seem to recognize the Bluetooth connects so instead of adjusting the primary based on BT it just assumes the primary car. 3) Because of 1 and 2, it would be nice to select the multiple stops and make them into one trip. A quicker way to change the vehicle.
Using it for years, super handy. I love the larger, clearer fonts with the latest update. However, I'm having a frustrating problem. When classifying drives, when I swipe to the left or the right it's asking for a purpose every time. Especially for personal drives I don't want to add a purpose. My only fix is to add a purpose and then go to the clunky drive interface and change it. Terribly annoying.
While I cannot live without this app, it could be better. It misses some drives even though I have power saving turned off, have it excluded from task killers, and follow recommended drive detection settings. Also, I wish the sensitivity for "stops" could be user-adjusted. In my driving area, there are no traffic conditions that have me stopping for longer than 30 seconds, yet with the hard-coded app settings, I can go to a store and buy something, and return home without the app seeing a stop.
I WAS ready to upgrade to the paid version, but it's too frustrating to simply enter a drive. I turn on the automatic feature, but it captures every drive and appears to randomly start and stop. As useful as this app could be, I don't have enough time to work around idiosyncratic app behavior. I need a button where I can begin a drive, and end a drive. This doesn't appear to have it. or, if it does, it's too well hidden.
This app is great in theory. However, it is not providing me with accurate mileage tracking. I drive for Uber on the side, and on one of my recent shifts, I logged 112 miles on my odometer, but the app only recorded 93 miles. These kinds of discrepancies will really add up over time and effectively defeat the purpose of the app's concept if I have to manually keep track of my mileage to ensure accuracy.
This app needs work: 1) It allowed me to input my vehicle odometer reading during initial setup, but the app does not show the expected odometer reading after each trip, which would allow me to verify the app's accuracy. 2) The app has a section to create "custom purposes," but the app will mot save them. 3) I wanted to explore the paid "Unlimited" plan, but the app offers no details of what upgrading would give me. I am comparing several mileage tracking apps. Uninstalling this one.
Doesn't track mileage accurately like it used to. Example: today I started a drive at 8:05am, came home for a couple hours, left again, came back, been here for a couple more hours and the app is still showing "drive in progress" with the time of 8:05am. This is not the first time this same thing has happened. How can you justify increasing the price twice in a year for an app that works only some of the time?
don't use this any more because all it tracks are my walks. I have been a user for 15+ years, please stop doing whatever you changed because it never tracked my walks before. now I have to constantly delete them or turn off drive detection and I forget to turn it back on. I walk at a normal to fast pace because I am 6'7", but I would say it is average. sad to have to find another option because the mileage tracking was very easy and reports were very thorough for work and taxes.
Been trying to get out for a couple weeks and it's so chaotic! It's sometimes books multiple overlapping drives, sometimes it looks drives that never happened, or a books of drive at some crazy time of night that it never occurred. I get notifications from the app, but there's nothing there. And on top of all that the price point is a little insane to me. $20 - $30 sure-- but $90+? I'm just going back to my Google sheets
This app started out great. Then I guess an update was rolled out, and EVERYTHING went down the toilet. The app thinks I'm driving in circles and loops and all kinds of crazy paths to get from my start and end points. Some of what it's detecting is absolutely ludicrous. I've logged out, deleted the app, and reinstalled it, to no avail. Support doesn't seem to care or want to do anything about it. And like others here have griped about, the jump to $90/yr. is inexcusable. Useless overpriced app.
