Description
Been messing around with Monkey for about a month now. It’s basically like Omegle but with a more modern feel – you know, the whole swipe-through-profiles thing like Tinder, but for making friends instead of dating. The app was actually made by some teens in LA, which kinda shows in the design – it’s pretty youth-focused and has that social media vibe going on.
So here’s what you do: You set up a profile with your mood and even add a song that plays when people check out your card (pretty neat touch, not gonna lie). Then you can either swipe through people’s cards to find friends, or jump into video chats with random folks. There’s also this DUO chat thing where you can group video chat with people you’ve already connected with.
Look, if you’re someone who likes meeting new people online and doesn’t mind the whole random chat thing, you might dig this. But real talk – you’ve gotta be careful with these kinds of apps. I’ve had some cool convos with people from all over, but there’s also the usual stuff you’d expect from anonymous chat apps. It’s free to use and pretty active (like 30 million users or something), but definitely not for everyone.
Editor Opinion
So here's my honest take after testing Monkey for a while. I've tried pretty much every social meeting app out there, and this one's... different. The good different, mostly. The profile customization is actually fun - that auto-playing song feature is kinda genius for breaking the ice. And the card-swiping system feels way more modern than the old-school random chat sites.
But here's the thing - while it's got a decent sized user base, the quality of conversations can be hit or miss. Like, really hit or miss. Sometimes you'll have great chats with interesting people, other times it's just kids messing around. I'd say it's better than Omegle in terms of features and design, but still has that wild-west feel of random chat apps.

changing pfp says "enable storage" as It already is, and It's not working. add on the max 1h call, and you gotta buy coins. It is just dumb
I recently discovered the app uses a “Hot Mode” that influences match results, but there’s no clear explanation or option to turn it off. This feature is not disclosed anywhere...
It's very fun and I have made friends on it but but they are some weird people on there, but other than that its good
