Reviews for Monster Job Search

I don't like the way this app is set up. You can only view the job once if you swipe left and can't view it again. You swipe right and it automatically has you apply for the job. You can't save it for later to review. Once you've looked (swiped) thru all the job listings, it wants you to upload your resume and doesn't show you anything else. The jobs it was showing me kept repeating and skipped some.

I get emails everyday for jobs to look at - it's the same list nearly every time. Monster isn't smart enough to change it up, and of the 7 jobs it sends me, 6 of them are from the same company. Monster doesn't seem to know how to deal with multiple fields of work using the term 'technician' or 'engineer', so most jobs have nothing to do with my career field of IT. Monster is helping me the LEAST of all job apps.

downloaded the app just fine, created my login, verified email. now I'm trying to simply move forward to USE the app, but I can't get past the initial, "does this look right? check your basic info" screen to add my location. I fill it out, I click continue, it acts like it's about to go but instead deletes the info I entered and then a pop up at the bottom of my screen that says, "something went wrong"... uh, yeah... clearly...

It doesn't show me what I search for. Example: graphic design or print design is not the same as engineering or interior design. The use of the app is annoying. Swiping left or right on the same posts every time I get on. Also I'm not allowed to sort posts according to date. I prefer viewing a list than what you have now. I'm not even gonna start on the irrelevant emails.

Mediocre. I can't view my resume on the app. The waiting icon just circles and the words behind the waiting icon flash on and off. I then have to force the app closed. It also cycles the same jobs as I am looking at them. If I pass on a job, a minute or 2 later, the app flashes and I am looking at the same handful of jobs I already passed on. I have deleted and re-downloaded the app multiple times and this does not fix it. I don't seem to have these problems on the website....

I keep hearing that Monster is a great resource for job seekers but honestly, I'm disappointed by the app. I wish there were more filter options like for education requirements, minimum salary, full-time/part-time so I don't waste precious time combing through jobs that aren't even close to what I want. Also being able to save filtered searches and get notified for these searches would be great! Also I wish I could see the jobs in those searches that my resume matches. I just need more.

Simplest way to look for jobs. It could use some more variety in the jobs they present. Glitches a bit. Will cycle you through the same two jobs and not let you click on things. Closing the app and reopening hasn't helped. Only happens occasionally. Not a lot of jobs are listed in my area yet, but if more employers start using Monster and the bugs are worked out, it could change the future of job hunting.

Pretty disappointing from Monster. Like others have said, limited job search options- why do i have to put a city in? Or a state for that matter... Very limited results too. Seems like most are some kind of coding job or tax professionals. And the recommendations for my personal profile are the same types!! I have NO computer coding experience whatsoever!! And yet those are the jobs that they show me... Definitely need to improve some of these features and the results for sure...

I just reinstalled the Monster App after uninstalling it about a year ago. Gave it 4 stars instead of one. The look and feel of the app has come a long way. I like the swipe features, the bright colors and the pass, save and apply buttons as well as the layout. However, I wish I could attach a cover letter with my resume when applying for a position. I still have to explore more of the app's features. I also wish there were more Graphic Design/Artist and printing positions posted.

No jobs, just agencies and gives me mostly jobs that do not match my criteria. Monster used to be great about 10 years ago. These days, I keep getting "matches" to Sales, customer service and off jobs, whereas I have been searching for IT positions. Do they even have an algorithm? What's more, there are mostly, if not entirely postings from agencies, and not any actually jobs. The agencies, who seem more interested in your data, seem to post or keep unavailable positions posted. All in all it is bad. It is hard to find a job and it is made worse by the seemingly unethical practices if Monster and the job agencies.

Great place to look for a job. My only problem is since signing up. My phone is getting non stop calls from recruiters to positions I haven't even applied for. 13 calls from different companies some multiple times. In my 45 years of experience. If a company needs people that bad. Then it is a s#!t company to work for. All they care about is numbers.

Would like to give more stars as there are parts of the app I like, but my biggest problem is the overwhelming amount of nursing and medical listings I see even tho I'm not skilled in that field. I wish there was a way(unless there is and I just can't find it) to block all jobs of a certain type so that I can see only what I'm interested in instead of having to sift. Otherwise, it's a good job searching app tho.

There might be a sync issue between your website and mobile app. I filled up my profile yesterday and saw the mobile app today and downloaded it. When I logged in via mobile app, none of my profile details were there. I logged out and logged in again and it had some (still incomplete) details, but looked like it was poorly populated based on how they parsed my uploaded CV. I had to edit it again. Skills were overwritten too with AI chosen / irrelevant words like 'Cadence'. Uninstalling for now.

This is a horrible app. Can't find jobs that I've saved to apply for later. I am unable to change my visibility setting. It is stuck on "visible to employers". Please keep things simple. You try to make it nice and pretty but it defeats the purpose of this app which is to allow people to search and apply for jobs. You can't apply for them if you can't find them after you saved them. The search function doesn't work as I specify a city and it shows jobs in the entire country. Deleting the app.

Search results don't follow criteria entered, especially with location distance. I set it to show jobs less than 30 miles but majority of jobs returned were over 50 miles away. The number of jobs listed were minimal, so Indeed was my go-to app. Also, deleting account was not as easy as clicking the delete account button. Other sites allow you to hide your resume, I can't find that on Monster so I'm getting calls from employers about sales positions (not what I want) for jobs 50+ miles away.

The app forces you to enter a city & state that you want to search for jobs. I am interested in looking for remote opportunities all across the country! And even if I did want to search for jobs in a particular area, it should at least allow me to select a diameter (5, 10, 20, 50 miles/km). This app is complete ineffective in helping me look for jobs.

Bad system interface. When I search "Biomechanical engineering" jobs, I get unrelated engineering jobs. So many jobs aren't relevant to me. They have bad suggestions on the news feed, and apparently you can't revisit the job if you pass up on it. I don't want to have location be a permanent setting I have to hunt to change. I should be able to search with a location anyone I look for a job. A state should count as a location. I think it's poorly designed. Use indeed, or even glassdoor.

The removal of the "heart" and "hide" selectors on each job listing has made this app/website absolutely worthless. I keep seeing the same jobs I dont want, day after day, over and over. And I have to sort through all sorts of garbage to find something new and relevant. This app has suggested the same 3 jobs i dont want every day for the past week. Uninstalling.

Didn't care for the Format. It treats it like a dating app with the swiping formula, which just doesn't make sense. A formula like that just slows down the process by which you can view jobs. I will admit, the format does make you look at jobs a bit more thoroughly than apps like Indeed or Linkedin, but that isn't always a good thing. I give it two stars for the mileage from home slider, instead of jumping from 25 to 50 miles, you can select 35 or 40.

Mediocre at best. There are very few filter options and those that are present never work. If you put in a maximum distance, you will be shown jobs that are more than double that away. Jobs you mark as not being interested in will remain in all of your searches. The little heart with a line through it just makes it slightly easier to skip unwanted postings, but they still clutter your search terribly. Much worse functionality than similar apps. Do not recommend.
