Reviews for MuseScore: sheet music

Michelle Arwine

Updated: If I could give this app zero stars I would, just got scammed into paying another year even though I only got 9 months with my first year and only 3 songs. DON'T BUY Paid for a year subscription but could never access any music, everytime I tried to access sheet music I got a pop-up asking for me to start a subscription to access which I have already paid for. Very frustrating and now I am out the yearly subscription I paid for. I do not recommend this App or site for music options.

My original complaint was that you could compose with that app, but now that app also doesn't use MuseSounds when listening to a piece (like how the website does). I also don't like the fact that the app nor the website have a dark mod, which can be kinda harsh to look at. The complaints are still pretty small, but the fact I still can compose with the app is still a big one for me.

I have an account already, but it forces the create account option. There is no method to login even after I tried me email address and it told me I need to login. Also, looking at other reviews just made me uninstall. They do have very predatory practices on their site too. There's probably a better community and app(s) to compose or arrange music.

What an absolutely horrific app and website. You buy one song and you have no idea that you're getting sucked into a "free trial" that ends after one month, and then you get billed $39.99 automatically each month after that? There's not even a place to cancel the subscription or get in touch with someone. Whoever made this app, do better. You should find ways to sell the music without having to sucker people into subscription hell.

they automatically billed me $40 for buying one sheet music score. a "free" 7 day trial was automatically added to my cart at checkout with no way to remove it. I tried to change my subscription in the app and the website to end the free trial, but there was no option to. I assumed it would automatically end after 7 days. I was just billed and within hours of my credit card company contacting me that this charge was suspicious, I emailed muse score support - and they said no refunds!

used to be my goto for nearly 10 years. whatever they did to it has made it unusable. had to decline paying for pro half a dozen times before I could get through the introduction. meanwhile, they make you wait for an animated display to show you the offer before you can decline it. I can only look at 1 measure of piano music at a time. the browser version doesn't even load anymore. What happened??

The most annoying part of the app right now is the thousands of screens asking you to pay every time you open the app. PLEASE MUSESCORE!!! Please stop begging for money like that!!! It honestly discourages me from even considering buying in. This app has absolutely declined in quality over the years. You should not need a membership to download or print freely available music. However, they have a lot of songs and sheet music which is very helpful.

Pretty mad that I went out of my way to avoid purchasing a premium membership, but somehow ended up with one anyway, and getting charged for one. The SECOND I canceled my auto-renew, a message popped up yelling at me that I can't get a refund per the terms of the agreement I (DIDN'T KNOW) I made with them when I was just trying to buy ONE piece of music. They are obviously scamming people to get the money upfront whenever possible and too bad if you didn't want the subscription.

The subscription has been impossible for me to cancel. Last year, I did the free trial and cancelled it before it should have charged and it charged me anyway. One year later AFTER I legitimately cancelled the subscription, it charged me again without me doing anything! I find it hard to recommend the app when it has actually stolen at least seventy of my dollars.

Pro+ is kind of a ripoff. They are going the route of enshitification like the streaming services. You pay the $9.99 a month for access to pro scores, then you have to pay more to download the scores. 🙄 You can upgrade to another tier for $149.99 per year to get it all, but there is no monthly option. You might as well just use musicnotes or some other service and pay per score. Re your response: So what? I'd rather go to musicnotes and buy it from them than pay a sub fee + download fee.
