Reviews for Music Player - MP3 Player

Holy hell the ads are out of control. This app used to just have some unobtrusive banner ads, but now anytime I want to quickly open it to skip a song or something I have to wait for an unskippable 30 second ad to play (along with their gross habit of "skip, but here's the link. skip the link but here's a screenshot of the store page" so it's more like a minute long ad).

Every since the last two updates I'm no longer able to use the app. It keeps coming up saying that I need to allow it permissions to appear on top and to send notifications. I enable it all and it still doesn't work. 😡 I've used this app for years and have loved it. At this point it's useless. I DO NOT RECOMMEND DOWNLOADING IT!!!

I LOVED this app. And then, like others, I was put off by the app suddenly requiring permission to manage phone calls and display over my screen. I get the reason for these permissions, but there is absolutely no reason these can't be optional. I can pause my own music if I decide to pick up a phone call, and I don't need my music app displaying over anything. My phone is off 80% of the time I'm listening to music, and I'm playing games I need the full screen for the other 20%.

I thought I'd configured my phone app wrong when Muzio started popping up after EVERY CALL out of nowhere! Sometimes, before I could even end the call properly! Yeah, that's EXACTLY what I wanted from my audio player, thanks! 🙄 You had it all, Muzio! You could have been THAT ONE APP but you just couldn't help yourselves. I leave you with two stars (a year ago, it would have been five without hesitation!) hopeful you'll turn this train wreck around before you do permanent damage.

This app used to be my go-to. I preferred it over other free players because if the nice default themes and lack of audio ads, just occasional banners. After a while popups started creeping in, then popups with wait-times. Today the canary in the coalmine dropped. I opened the app to a paywall. Full-page spread of their $6 a week (a WEEK) ad-free service. It has no apparent way to close and ofc you need payment info to start a free trial, basically holding my playlists for ransom. Just use VLC.

When I originally got this app, it had no ads and worked great. I used it off and on for 4 months, but when I left it alone for roughly 3 months, it started having ads afterwords. I disable Auto Update because many groups bloat or entirely re-design their apps to be worse, so make of that what you will. If you still see 3 stars on this review, then ads haven't started interrupting my music audio yet.

Had to go from a 5 star to 1 star. I've used this app for years cause for the longest time it was the best music player, but now you can't even click the back button without being spammed with ads on top of pummeling you asking for you to subscribe to their paid plan every time you pull the app up. So I think I'm gonna look for a different app. Also seeing reviews of people saying they paid for lifetime membership just to have it yanked away, that's bad business.

3/27/21 needed a replacement for google play music and this is way better. 02/25 Update: When I first found this app it was perfect. No ads and overall no issues. They've decide to bombard people with ads now, its ridiculous. When the change first happened, it was fine. A single ad that you could x out of immediately would pop up when the app first opened and never again. Now ads are constant and are difficult to x out of so you need to click multiple times. Going elsewhere.

I really loved using this app to put and listen to music, but the change has really been annoying. I used to be able to access the music offline but now when I'm not connected to WiFi it takes forever to load. And not to mention, the subscription screen popping up with an ad sometimes immediately afterward. Even simply going to a playlist sometimes makes an ad pop up. It's honestly starting to remind me of those 3D games that are just ads after every single little thing you do.

Been using for years and all of a sudden, I'll open the app and it's a pop up for the subscription and I click exit than another pop up pertaining to something else than something else pops up so that's 3 times I gotta click the "x" to get to the music player. I can't deal with this anymore so I need to find another app.

(UPDATE) Now the app is trying to FORCE me to give it permissions. Uninstalled. Used to be my favorite music app. I would go out of my way to make sure I had this specific app downloaded. Until a few months ago, I started noticing more and more predatory practices. Used to be able to open the app right away, now I'm forced to click on THREE tiny little X's to skip all the ads and premium service offers. It has become just another awful app on the Play Store. R.I.P.

Edit: GET RID OF THE DAMN PHONE CALL UPDATE. Also fix your contact email, as your contact email doesn't work. Overall a good app, but they have recently started to push ads more and more. Wouldn't be surprised if they started to play ads between songs soon at this rate. Edit: The ads have gotten so bad that I've had to go through a series of 4 ads just to open the app. Choose another player.

7/22/25. It updated yesterday. now I'm getting ads and I subscribe. It even pops them up when I'm not using muzio player. It's also gone a lot more complicated. What gives? When Google play decided to go pay only I looked for another app to play the music that I store on my phone. Out of all the apps I checked including VLC I ended up choosing this 1. And 5 bucks a year is a lot cheaper than having to subscribe to YouTube music and I think it's 10 bucks a month or something.

No more! This was my #1 music app until I HAD to give permission for it to access my phone calls and to overlay other apps. I took one call after this was required. It wouldn't stop playing music during the call and didn't disappear after I ended the call. I'm hoping it goes away or at least make it an option. I'm using another app that doesn't require all access to everything on my phone.

The app WAS exactly what it was supposed to be. A music player. Now it's monitoring my calls, popping up interfaces all over my screen(outside of the app and when it's not even running), and asking me for strange permissions. the frequent ads are annoying as well. I understand one ad at the beginning for the pro version, but not playing an ad right in the middle of a song..

while I absolutely love and after ad, especially the ones you can't get out of and have to close the app down, the constant badgery of buying a subscription for music is highly annoying. Now the app is tied into my phone calls and I can't remove it so I am left with removing the app completely from my phone. You would like to think for 1K phone, you could have a simple music app strictly to play uploaded music without all the BS, but alas.... not in the cards.

I paid for lifetime pro and then an update took it away asking for a LOT of money for a subscription. I had to deal with that for a while until it was fixed, with ads popping up and covering the whole UI, which meant I couldn't switch to a different song after opening up the app until I dealt with the ad. Now it won't let me use the app at all unless I allow it permission to my phone logs and there's a pop-up after every phone call with no way to get rid of it.

ive been using this app for as long as i can remember, but it's just gotten worse and worse over time. eventually, they inevitably stuffed it full of ads, and now you can't even open the app without getting through like 5 different pop-ups trying to get you to buy premium or something. sorry not sorry, it's not more convincing the more you shove it in my face. but NOW, it demands to have access to your phone calls??? inconvenient, incredibly invasive, and unnecessary. i hate it.

This was the only music app I have used for several years now. And I didn't mind paying $1 a month to have the annoying ads removed. But all of a sudden, the app requires access to your phone so it can "check for viruses " after each call. And if you don't give permission, then the app is completely useless. I gave permission, and some weird screen pops up during your call and even on FaceTime. it's so annoying. It should be optional. I am canceling my subscription and finding a new music app.

Downloaded and started using this because it allowed me to create playlists over 1k songs (which Samsung player strangely was unable to do) and liked it enough to purchase the lifetime ad-free version. Loved it until a recent update now forces the app to have access to phone logs in order to use it. WHY?! You're a music player, not an app for managing phone calls! Stay in your lane, Muzio! This After Call "feature" that is required to use the app is the reason I'm looking for something else.
