Using Galaxy Note 10: Freezes while looking at or playing music. Must restart to get back to shopping. Cannot browse sheet music for purchase without searching * or a single letter and filter according to what you're looking for. Will not tell you if a purchased piece is one time print or unlimited printing before purchasing. Advertises music pieces that are NOT for sale (dumb tease). It's good at saving purchases I made 5 years ago and forgot about until now.
Reviews for Musicnotes Sheet Music Player
← Back to Musicnotes Sheet Music PlayerI bought sheet music through this app specifically for playback feature and it glitches and lags constantly. Wish I could blame internet but that's not the problem. Sheet music is priced very expensive...$7.99 for one song when I can buy a whole book of songs for $13-$18. Again, if the playback worked well, I would not mind the extra cost.
Love the app for being able to keep all of my sheet music without having to lug around 10 lbs of music. But I've been using it for less than 2 weeks and it has frozen on me 3 times. What is worse is that I can't close the app or restart my tablet. It freezes everything so I can't do anything but wait for it to finish crashing. Pretty embarrassing mid-rehearsal to not have access to my sheet music. I will probably have to switch back to a heavy binder full of paper.
Been using this app for 7 years for sheet music and the transpose feature and being able to take out the voice parts in the songs. That being said the app still has its flaws but once you get used to th UI it works well. You can use it for almost free too which is nice. It would be better if you had a little bit more control of tempo changes.
A fine app I've used for years until I bought a piece of music on accident (it was the wrong arrangement and you're only allowed to see the first page so i didn't know). I immediately asked for a refund so that I could purchase the correct piece and they wouldn't credit my original payment method. No help from Google pay either. There's so many other companies with better customer service. Sheet music direct being one.
Update: It's finally working again! It's nice to be able to look up sheet music while on the go. Haven't really used it much yet but it is working again Used to be nice to have my music available when traveling, now it no longer works on my Galaxy Note 9 and it is ridiculously slow on my Samsung tablet when turning pages. I've just gone back to using the printed music, looking for a new app to display sheet music.
Signed up for pro premium and missed the little "1" next to the part that says I get 12 titles of my choice. Turns out the titles I wanted didn't qualify. I then tried to downgrade to pro plus, even sending an email with my request. So far it's been a week almost and radio silence. Be careful with these guys. Sub par customer service for sure. Also the android version is a bit wonky when trying to zoom to a specific bar, and tries to re-center itself which is awkward if you are using a phone.
I love the music options, but do not appreciate paying for monthly and yearly subscriptions, and then getting charged at least $5 on top of the subscription rates to buy everything I need, and then get charged AGAIN of I want to print my sheet music! This is unacceptable, and I am failing to see any value in paying for subscriptions. You supposedly receive 15 or 20% discounts, but it seems overpriced even with them. The purchasing credits to print or save your paid-for music is absolute rape.
Great app but why do I have to use Chrome on my phone to shop and add music to my cart instead of the app. The app only holds and shows what I've purchased. I should be able to purchase through the app as well. Also, it would be nice to have a Wish List tab so when I find certain music and can't get them at the moment, it'll be in my wish list for me to get later. I hate having to re-search for music or having to store in in the cart. Great site overall tho!
Update: after clearing the app data I reopened the app and it started up fine! While using the play mode while viewing the music, I noticed there is not a rewind button so you can go back and replay. If you want to rehear a bar in the middle of the page, you have to listen the the first half of the page before you get to the part you want. This is the only con I have found. Overall, great app!
The app is definitely well functioning and pretty easy to use. However I find that its low selection of r&b artists is quite evident. The app would be better if it separate sheet music selection into Pop, R&B, Latin etc genres in order to find something suitable if a piece you're looking for isn't available. If there was more variety I would give this app a five
This is awful. I feel bad for people buying sheet music off of this app. I had the app open while I had the music notes website open. Same song- with my membership was going to be $4.93 or one pro credit. The app was going to charge $6.99, even indicating I had an annual membership with credits. The app doesn't recognize any of my credits or the membership. With as much money as they're making on these worthless memberships (a 15%discount blows) they should be hiring a new app developer.
Unlike some of the other reviewers, I've never had a problem getting this app to open. My major problem with it has been that the mixer simply does not work. I can crank a part down to minimum volume, or mute it entirely and the thing just keeps right on playing all parts at maximum volume! Quite frustrating, and it renders the app largely useless as a practice accompaniment track. I have also noted that changes made to key and tempo are frequently not saved between sessions.
2025 Edited to Add: Charged for Pro Membership in December but now the app says it can't activate the Pro Features. It's always worked before, but now it's completely broken. How do I get my money back? The help articles are confusing :( Old Review: The music is cheaper if you buy it on the website vs the app, even with the pro membership. The whole "save $1 per song by going pro" is misleading since all prices are marked up by $1+ in the app. Disappointed.
Music on the display works great, however the app claims that you can buy PDFs for download. This is deceptive advertising. 1) The system doesn't tell you before you purchase that they won't allow you to download on anything except a Mac or WIndows. 2) What's available is not a PDF but some other download tool. 3) When you contact support and ask for the PDF that you've purchased, the best they can do is offer a refund, where they'll refund your whole purchase, causing you to buy it again without the PDF. As long as you're sticking to viewing the music on the screen, it's a nice app, though.
the app will not open! I've uninstalled and reinstalled at least a dozen times because I really want to use it. when I click open, I get the music note logo for approximately 20 seconds and then it closes. every. single. time. I've left feed back on Facebook and the response was that my Samsung S8 should work just fine. but it doesnt. it shuts down. I've restarted my phone, cleared history, cleared cache, reinstalled multiple times. it will not work.
Piano music is not true to many of the rock/country songs and often is not arranged correctly. Accompaniment music is not available most times, only a version where the right hand plays melody and left hand duplicates the bass part. Can't preview entire song in app to know what you're getting until after you pay for it, and if you request assistance when the music isn't correct or what you're looking for, customer service acts like you should have known better. And yet I keep trying. 🙄
Crash. Won't open on Moto G5 Plus. Used to work fine on a Samsung J7. Used to be a good app. Now it crashes and won't open. I cannot access the music I paid for. Update--Cleared cache and data and it works now. Playback timing/rhythm has always been kind of screwed up though and still is. If they fixed the playback timing, I would give it a higher rating.
When I first got the app it used to work great! It was easy to use, and I liked being able to have all music from musicnotes in one place, and being able to have it play my music. Now I can't get the app to open. I've tried deleting and redownloading, but it just stays on the loading screen before crashing. I hope that this can get fixed soon.
App does not allow you to compose songs. It did not advertise that it could, so there's no problem. I found the app searching "Music composer app" so I got confused. I'm sure it functions as advertised, I'm just looking for something else right now and wanted to leave a note in the reviews. Both so I see it if I forget and come back, and in case anyone else is looking for something this app doesn't provide. Leaving 3 stars because I don't know enough about the app.
