Reviews for My Aurora Forecast Pro

← Back to My Aurora Forecast Pro

A simple app which has good lay out and not much imformation to confused any body. Keeps you updated when there might be aurora seen. There was recent aurora activity and kept me updated and glad I saw the northern lights while camping. I think.there can be more information and latest predictions so people can travel to see the northern lights. Simple app to use!

Absolutely must have if you willing to shot aurora. While it is extremely useful to use it when planning to get view tonight don't forget params might change dynamically any minute so don't forget to follow BZ, solar wind speed and KP together. Read some easy tutorials which might give you some spectacular shots even when KP is low. Would suggest to extend app to display some params as widgets directly on your main screen. That's why I am giving 4 out of 5 stars

The app does a good enough job explaining Aurora probability. I wish it had a feature where users can confirm that the Aurora is visibly present so that alerts can be sent within a geographical area to other users. The strength of the alert could be bolstered by other users confirming or denying they are visible. Even though I get alerts I rarely see the northern lights because I can't wait around outside in the freezing cold. A user generated alert would be wonderful.

Great app. Probably would have missed the Northern Lights outside Tromso without it and gone to bed. But setting my location and seeing the percentage increase made me go outside and it was amazing. Good value to pay extra to remove the ads.

A very user-friendly app. It's very easy to get started and with more details to explore in the app. Ads are not bothering. I had good use of this app for a few years and have now bought the pro version to support the developer. App could be better if nearby users could confirm if/when it's visible light to make forecast accurate from each area. "5 users in this area have confirmed auras are not/slightly or very visible right now" with option to change answer if the light appeared/disappear.

Updated review: Make sure you set the location to custom if you want viewing probability and cloud coverage data, otherwise it won't show. I do consider this a design flaw, or at least something that could be made clear to the user. It took me some figuring out, as I had it set to "current location", which I find would be more useful, especially when driving around looking for viewing spots. Other than that the app is relatively easy to use & simple in design; decent for tracking the lights.

This app is thorough and insanely detailed. There is an impressive level of transparency regarding where the data comes from. It makes viewing the lights achievable for virtually anyone with a smart phone.

It shows "recalculating" all the time... Got some results only once in a few days. Worthless unless the GPS/Location update bug is fixed. Edit: It started working in the end. Had to manually set up the Custom Location. Thanks.

Cool app. lot's of nice features. Recommended!

I love this app. Although I've not yet been fortunate enough to see the aurora, it does give me notifications of when it's likely to be visible where I am. 🤞🏻I have better luck moving forward. I installed the pro version and was disappointed because I'd not realised that doing so supported the developers rather than offering extra features. Since I wish them well and really appreciate the app, I'll happily 'buy them a coffee'. Keep going guys!

This app is all I need! Notifications feel just right and customizable. Giving a heads up in an appropriate amount of time.

This app is a phenomenal resource for tracking and viewing aurorae! Highly recommended!

It would be great to be able to setup multiple locations with notifications.

The best app for hunting the Aurora Borealis, five stars well deserved. The only thing that bothers me is that its using too much battery, likely because of the frequent updates. I dont exactly know if it would be possible to change the refresh rate according to the K index: if its unlikely to be high the next couple of days, there is no need to synchronize the data that often, thus would save the phones battery.

Accurate so far. I have seen two Aurora that I otherwise would have missed. remember to look northward! even if it's so dim your phones camera will do a long exposure capture and you will be surprised at what you can see. use a car or wall to steady your cam for the long exposure. usually 15-20 seconds

Helped me see the Lights a few times. Good clear information and easy to use.

The free and paid version of this particular app are pretty much the same. I liked the maps over-view, it made it easier to time the events totality. The part where you have to change the privacy setting to make your location visible all the time is unnecessary. And furthermore not recommended by Google for safety purposes. If the app is not being used it should not need unlimited access. Fixing that potential threat risk might have given it a higher, "Star-Rating".

App worked pretty much flawlessly. Aurora appeared every time I received an alert. It usually gives an hour window when they should appear. For me, sometimes I saw them immediately. Other times it took as much as 1.5 hrs. But they always showed up. Spent a week in Reykjavik, Iceland and saw lights 4 nights in a row. Absolutely incredible!

It was great... Used it while vacationing in Alaska and saw the lights twice... Would have been 3 times if I had figured out sooner that my phone was not allowing alerts while do not disturb was on. I added permission for the app to alert anyway, but it didn't work. Not sure if that was my phone or the app. Either way . Very happy. I knew before the hotel staff did.

Yesterday I tried to see the northern lights and failed. Then I thought: NOAA's data is surely free to use. Idea for an app, something that uses you location to ping you when the 1h forecast is good! This app does that and much more, and I'm glad it offers an add-free pro version. Now if only they could strongly state that no personal data is collected and shared, and only the necessary for the functionality is ever used, this app would be exactly what I'd wished for.
