Scan function doesn't work properly. Chops image in half and doesn't recognize the book. Reopened multiple times. Sometimes it works but mostly doesn't. Had potential. Will try other app. Would be nice with more collecting options. Like entering multiples, but mostly a list of issues missing or a list of wht you have for easy reference.
Reviews for My Collection: Comic Scanner
← Back to My Collection: Comic ScannerI have bought 4 comics all variants all US comics and all from between 2021 and 2023, this app doesn't recognise 3 of them. The one it does recognise is not the correct version of the comic. When I click on search for similar its not on there. I have added over 100 but because of this issue some are not linked with their original photo. I use this app to keep track of what I have and what the values are but it's useless unless they fix this. There should be a way to search all in the database.
So this app is pretty good. Some of the prices might not be exact, but it's nice to have a general idea of what some things are worth..most of my older comics are garage sale finds, to see that some are worth over $50 is amazing I have noticed, though, that it does update periodically, but it will change details like the cover you choose, It gets kind of annoying having to go in and correct it every few days, but all in all with a little work I'm sure they can perfect it.
Once a comic is scanned, I'm unable to view it. When I click on the comic I want to view from my collection it takes me to it and freezes. A few got added incorrectly and I can't go back to correct it because it just freezes. Other than that, it has been a pretty on point app so far. Even after the weekend fix, I'm still experiencing the same issues.
I give 2 stars solely on the app itself. It's very easy to use and it looks really nice. Other than that I give it 0 stars. I scanned 340 comics, most are mint, some in rough condition, they're from50's - Present. Popular and unpopular characters. Out of the 340 I scanned hipcomic's app said that only about 50 of them were worth a price other then $3. I've checked the value on 3 other sites and never got more than a couple worth the same. I had really high Hopes at beginning but that is gone.
The scanning feature is excellent, but the comics you scan are Their Collection, not yours. The app does not enable the transfer of your list to Excel, PDF, or printing. I would be reluctant to enter my 10,000 plus comics into their database, knowing I lack autonomous management of that information. Many years ago, I used a business card scanning database with similar constraints- Salesforce bought the software company and demanded paid subscription to their services to access my contacts.
Good app for keeping track of what you do and don't have, but for determining accurate market values of your comics it leaves much to be desired. I compared Hipcomic's estimated values against online sites like Comicbookrealm and Mycomicshop and most of the time Hipcomic came up short. I don't know what reference this app uses to determine values but it way under values older books. As I said it's a great app for keeping track of your books, but that's about the only thing it has going for it.
Please fix the bugs. It's a great app but I lose internet connection when loading and changing variant editions of comics. The app needs a tab for ungraded comics. I have several ungraded comics that are in mint condition and the value provided doesn't reflect the price presented by other sources similar. I think if it's stabbed, then it's graded. So there shouldn't be a choice for both. It's conflicting.
Was working now won't load anything. Will not load the variants page and any time I scan a book there isn't any information on it. Feb/25/24 So after the fix where everything is loading up now I have another issue. All the comics that I put into this app unscrambled all of the variants to original covers. I put in way too much time for this to happen. Its why I haven't put in all of my books. Waste of time!
Decent app. Some issues need to be worked out. Would like a more robust sort option. Sorting by alphabet and issue number is fine, but sorting starts over after ever page, i.e., A - W on page 1, then XYZ on page 2 then starts back at A again on that page. Scanner doesn't recognize some issues. It would be nice if users were able to edit when scanner doesn't recognize the issue. For instance, my issue 1 of Peter Parker the Spectacular Spider Man scans as True Believers edition every time.
This was originally a 3-star rating. While I like the ease of use in scanning my comics in, there were some pretty large gaps in the database's library and you had to create a placeholder for anything the database couldn't find. Now, I see that the database has recently been updated and includes much more comics, including current issues. Great! Now I've begun the process of updating my placeholders to comics in the database. Next, please create a filter to group placeholder comics for updates
Please fix the app and make it so older by being able to scan the barcodes for the comics to come up. Too many times have I taken CLEAR pics, and I get the message of "can't recognize comic" and then have to try to fill in whatever information I can. It's even more frustrating when it does that and I'm scanning a series and only a few of them scan correctly with the info provided.
Great app to get started on. It's still missing a lot of variant covers (hopefully that will get fixed going forward). I'm not sure about the pricing as some books sell for way more in the market than what prices are listed on the app. As a collector for decades, I know that prices fluctuate with the characters and rarity of a specific book. So, to new collectors, keep this in mind when looking at pricing. Overall, it's a great app..
The scan feature is very cool. Mostly accurate. A lot of times I tried to use it, it didn't recognize the virgin variant, or the alternate cover, which is a little weird because it would do that when I was scanning the alternate cover. There also wasn't an option to add CGC or CBCS graded at the time. I haven't used the app in months, so I wouldn't know if any of that has changed. I would like to be able to add a want list to my profile, so sellers can know what I'm looking for.
Too time consuming for too few results. Of the initial 10 comics I scanned, only 1 was recognized. If they integrated a barcode scanner, it would make finding the individual issues much easier. Whakoom uses that, and it's a robust database. It doesn't apply estimated values, but can make tracking your collection fast easier. This app is a great idea that falls dreadfully short.
Awesome app to keep track of and help sort my comics, but it doesn't always recognize the variant covers. I've had to use the main comic then manually change it to the variant cover for some of them. Others, the variant covers aren't listed. And when I put it in order of release date, it'll get several mixed up, like putting the order as 459, 461, 460. It'd be nice to have a button in the price guide to add comics I have but didn't scan.
Easy to use. Has problems with older comics and some variants. And does not differentiate between newsstand and direct. And not real sure on the pricing accuracy. But still a solid foundation and great idea for an app. If all else it is making it much easier to go through the ones that scan in and keep up with what I have instead of digging or remembering. Thanks
Nice app. However, it's rather glitchy when trying to upload. Also it's only identifying about a third of my collection. Prices seem a little bit on the low end. Not convinced about that. I give 3 out of 5 stars for effort. It is easy to use. I suggest going more social would increase marketability. Also a personalized header and profile picture would make the site a place people would want to go back to. Otherwise it's just a big filing cabinet. That's the feeling I have. Good luck.
It's a great idea, but the cover scan feature is maddening. Lord be with you if you're scanning an alternate, variant, 2nd print, comics even slightly outside the mainstream. Abandon all hope ye who are scanning a parody or "homage" cover... That said, I would love to sell my comics here, but I don't know the price is worth it. Development team: please add a barcode scanning feature! Or lower the price to sell on your marketplace to offset the frustration of uploading one's collection.
This app is so much more user-friendly compared to any alternatives. It's great! I think it would be nice to get alerts when people we follow upload new comics to their collections. As well as a feature to auto-rescan preexisting images of any comics that are not in the database in our collection, but the initial photo taken remains. This way, we don't have to search through all our comics later to rescan again.
