Reviews for MyCareLink Heart™

Runs in the background 24/7 and eats my battery. Couldn't figure out why I had to charge so often and then I looked. Somebody needs to figure out how to program this app to ping my device once an hour or something. This thing is a power suck and not worth letting it run unrestricted. Until you figure that out I'm restricting the app. Set reminders to let it out of jail once a week to connect and then back in.

This app works great for allowing your phone to act as a transmission device to your clinic instead of having to keep a device near your bed. Unfortunately besides telling you info about your clinic and your pacemaker (model number, serial number, device name, when it was implanted, estimated battery life) all vitals are not monitored by the app for the user to view at least. You can take your own vitals and then manually enter them into the app if you like. Sort of like a journal.

I hate to sound like I'm piling on, but what others have said is true: the app is simply awful. It regularly crashes and fails to relaunch itself. When you notice and relaunch it manually sometimes it takes it several minutes to start communicating with your device again. It is horribly coded and Medtronic doesn't seem to care. (Last update 10 months ago despite reviews reporting issues.) I don't think my doctor trusts it. They got the data from my ICD instead of using what the app sent.

I have been using the app for about three months and on several occasions when I try to open it, it only goes to the blue "title" screen and no further. I have to reboot my phone to get it to open. This shouldn't be happening. An aside, I have read many reviews and when you reply, it's always the same reply- you'll pass the comment along. It makes it seem you're just using a copy and paste reply and not really concerned.

The app provides the user no data. That's a choice the app developer made and it is a poor choice. Especially for athletes, at least provide heart rate data as a function of time. The sensor could be interfaced with Strava to greatly assist the user in understanding heart rate vs. effort. EDIT UPDATE April 2024 - got a new phone, Samsung S24 - now app doesn't work at all. I get an error message, your device is not compatible with your phone. Ugh.

The app is not compatible with updated phones. As a leader in cutting-edge medical equipment, I was thrilled to be able to monitor my heart issues on my phone...until I got a better phone that tracks health better. Then I discovered how many newer phones this app hasn't caught up to. This is a serious flaw. I keep checking back for an update but, almost two months later, still nothing. Now I wonder what the point was in having the procedure when I can't monitor or report an issue. Major fail.

After diligently recording my vitals for several months, the app froze and i was unable to open it. When i uninstalled and reinstalled and logged in, all my data was gone... that was about 10 days ago... this morning it did it again. Major complaint....if it sends my heart tracings to my doctor, why isn't there any way for me to see them?

Great app, but I would love to see the ability to track vitals in real time. Even just heart rate would be great. The only vitals tracking present is what the patient inputs. Would also like to see pacing stats and estimated battery longevity. Seems the Dr's are the only ones that can see that. For me at least, as the patient, its equally important to be able to see this information. After all, it is MY heart this device is connected to.

Doesn't allow to setup the account on a brand new device. I called customer support twice. I'm sure they go through a checkbox list of FAQs to try to figure out what's the problem, but the problem is the app is a terrible unusable product. They can't create a user on their end either. No solution was given to fix the connectivity issue, just to open a ticket for IT. Anyway, the representative will send us a device to send the info the Dr. requieres to get.

App doesn't open up sometimes and doesn't tell you about any results of the debrillator. You have to constantly uninstall/reinstall to make it work. I call customer service, and they don't care. They sent me a generic email that didn't address my issue of the app not opening up. A company making all this money off their customers can't afford to update/fix their app, which is supposed to save someone's life. What a disappointment and rip-off? I wish I had researched more about the company before

Needed to record a symptom I had into the app and the app won't open. Stays stuck on a blue screen. Now I fear the accuracy of this system. It was easier with the little button I carried and pushed near my heart. This isn't reliable. Had to install AGAIN because of the frozen blue screen. Now I can't log in as it's saying my correct password is incorrect. So I tried to reset it. And when I enter a new password, it tells me it's invalid.

The app works. But it burns through the battery and I was lucky enough to have a phone on the suported list. I would get a full day's worth of charge with 20% battery left over at the end of the day. Since installing this app, I have to charge it in the afternoon to make it into the evening. Finally the app doesn't give you any vitals, or anything else (no heart rate...) I asked the company rep about the lack of info, they just said "the data is not meant to be seen by patients"

I had to purchase a new phone since my other one was no longer charging. It is very frustrating and unfortunate that a brand new phone (S22 Ultra) with the latest technology is not supported/compatible with this application especially since the linq is a life changing/saving device for me. You have an advanced piece of cardiac technology, but you can't figure out how to make an app compatible? How many of us is it going to take to complain before you actually DO SOMETHING about it???

Very slow. When it works, it is OK. Unfortunately, recording symptoms only works about 60% of the time. When I try to record a symptom, it can take many minutes. Often, it just says 'can't connect'. Both my doctor's support and Medtronic support were clueless. Luckily, I don't have many symptoms. The implant gets downloaded to the doctor once every three months, but there is absolutely no feedback to indicate if it happened or not. It drains the battery in less than a day.

This app will EAT your phone's battery life. At the end of an average day, just running in the background, it consumes about 25% of my phone's battery (S23 Ultra). It did the same on my S22 Ultra. If you don't run it in the background, MedTronic emails and calls you to tell you that you need to connect. As someone who used to go months between sending device transmissions, I don't see the need for the 24/7 monitoring at the expense of killing your phone battery daily. Stay away if you can.

Needs an update! I wish I could give it 0 stars! This app closes itself bare minimum once a week, usually two and sometimes three times! If I don't remember to check it twice a day it ends up not being connected until I try to open it. I say "try" to open it because multiple times a week it will just sit on a blue loading screen and it won't open. Good thing I don't need to report symptoms because I wouldn't be able to! Please fix your app. I don't want to have to think about this thing so much.

Christina is 100 percent correct. App is terrible! Keeps closing on a daily basis (usually multiple times per day). When I try to open the app sometimes I just receive a blue screen, and I have to reboot the phone to get it to work. This is an expensive pacemaker! At least get the app to work properly! Here's hoping the technology of the pacemaker is better than the app!

How does this work when it feels like something is wrong in my chest, but the app won't open yet again? Looks like I have to reinstall again. With my last phone ( the same exact android model), I had no problem with the app. Loaded onto this phone & it disconnects all. the. time. Disconnects often happen two to three times a wk. If I'm lucky, it only happens every 2 wks or so. Not like I have a choice in the app. Perhaps it's a stress test to see how my heart handles the frustration.

app provides no information to the user. all data is sent to the "clinic" without anything being sent to the use. the app frequently quits and needs to be restarted. unless your phone is near or on your person it cannot connect with your ILR. you may or nay not have more episodes of arrhythmia then are actually being recorded if the app cannot link to your phone.

App worked well for months. I've really come to count on the physical activity data for day-to-day comparison & it really helps me stay on track in my journey to better health. However, recently that data isn't updating regularly. Their response was that the app must be running & your phone must be near you at all times in order for the app to work correctly. My phone is a Galaxy S25+, which is near me 24/7 & the app is always running, so clearly the problem isn't on my end.
