Simple to use, tracks food if you manually enter it. But now, you can't scan in food with bar codes, so I'm adjusting my rating down. Edit: Another update focused exclusively on making the app WORSE, so I'm removing yet another star. It forced me to log in, which deleted all of my weigh ins, recipes, foods, and goals. Also there's now full screen ads you have to wait to finish when you use the app. Why aren't any updates focused on making the app better?
Reviews for MyFitnessPal: Calorie Counter
Kind of sucks tbh. I can't edit anything. There is no way to change an entry if you make a mistake. I logged dinner after midnight and the app posted this dinner to the next evening instead of the dinner earlier in the day. There is no way to change or fix this. I'm giving this app until the end of the week then I am deleting it. I need it to work around my schedule. Update: Email sent but it's not a bug. It's poor design. Update: I can't add my fitness tracker either.
UPDATE: I had to take this down to 3 stars now because as of how this app has become BOMBARDED with ads AND you can no longer scan barcodes without paying for the premium version of the app which also, by the way, removes the ads. How convenient! Otherwise it's a good app for tracking your food entries and viewing your nutritional intake. Those ads are very annoying though. If the cost wasn't so high I would consider purchasing just to remove them.
Terrible, terrible design. User interface is the most confusing, non-intuitive design imaginable. Also, wildly inconsistent calorie counts for food items. I typed in 1 cup cooked quinoa and saw search results ranging from 120 calories to 225. The search results appeared crowd sourced, so accuracy is dubious. People just write in their opinions, defeats the purpose of counting calories. Stay away from this app.
Update: that's a stupid to add to the notes This sucks that you can't track magnesium for your electrolytes. They don't even have the option to add magnesium when you create a food. Their help site says to create a food and add your supplements there. Hello!!! It's not listed. I mean how hard is it to add it to the list of nutrients. That post was a few years ago and it's still not an option. They have no problem changing the app for the worse. I have premium. I expect to be able to custom add.
App is running worse & worse, day by day. This app used to be the best. I recently installed MFP because I started a serious weight loss goal. At first it was working perfectly. I'm familiar with MFP because I had used it 5 years ago to lose weight & it 100% helped me reach my goal then. Now, the app is VERY unreliable. It never picks up my steps from my fitness watch or other apps like Map My Fitness. It's adding exercises on days I've done zero (couch potato days). Very, very unreliable.
Database is entirely user generated, resulting in completely inaccurate information, incorrect spellings, and just outdated data. On top of that, the barcode scanner is a paid premium feature despite the information being completely wrong more often than not. Additionally, I track my net carbs, and this app has been an absolute nightmare due to sugar alcohols being missing from basically every item's nutrition breakdown. I have never been more displeased spending money on an app.
Good but features keep becoming premium. This morning I went to enter my food, and after I searched and found what I wanted, entered the quantity and went to add it to my diary it wouldn't respond. I've tried closing and reopening the app. uninstalling and reinstalling it. The only thing I can figure is that now the food diary has become a premium feature as well. Very quickly becoming a useless service if you don't want to pay top money for what other apps give for free.
Incredibly hard to update goals, loggs you out every other day, cumbersome to log meals copy or move around meals, and feels like you are constantly being told to buy premium which is out rageous when half of the normal parts dont even work. oh and stupidly hard to log food by grams, which is the most accurate way to log thing is by uaing a digital scale... nutrient info is accurate. that is a plus
Edited Rating to 1-star. App is pretty sub-par these days. Does not sync with my Fitbit app to transfer calories burned and steps. This doesn't work regardless of syncing is done via HealthConnect (updates sporadically and randomly) or directly with Fitbit. The entire platform is becoming useless if it cannot track the most basic and relevant metrics. Disappointing as a paying subscriber. Will cancel if it isn't resolved satisfactorily.
