Reviews for myQ Garage & Access Control

app is very limited. I have an old garage door, so I bought the myQ garage door opener to connect it to wifi for my tesla. the app is very basic. I paid for the subscription, but you can't see your account. you can't even find out when it expires. this app is mostly just for opening and closing your garage and advertisement to buy other products. why would I want to buy more products if the app is so limited.

App is very slow, and video events in the history tab never load. Impossible to watch without downloading and finding them in a separate Gallery app. It controls the garage fine, again after a very slow load time. Notifications work well, albeit far, far, too often, with only the clumsiest option to snooze for factory preset hours and no option to reduce notification frequency. Many ads to buy more MyQ products.

This app uses way too much data and the only thing that could possibly be using that much are the metric ton of Ads that are shoved in your face any time you need to do something. normally I don't mind ads but these are so over the top and apparently uncompressed to use well over 1GB of data a month alone. Beyond that this app does not work with car play or Android Auto. They want you to pay an additional subscription fee to be able to do that. I'm going back to the remotes.

I paid for the year subscription. I can't get majority of my videos to pop up. it has way too many things the user needs to do to watch the recorded videos. thats if you can even get them to pop up. when you open the app it takes forever to get live video then an even longer wait to get to full screen. the app has random cameras on my filters I just have to tap them to figure out which ones they are. call for help no chat. I do like the clarity on the cameras but that's about the only thing

Update breaks older devices. My twelve year old garage door opener was working fine before the update. After the update, the app doesn't see the opener. I deleted the app and deleted my account to start over. The instructions for connecting in the app do not match the menu on the wall mounted controls. My opener is branded as MyQ but the app seems to ignore it. By the way, the garage door is on the wifi network list on the router.

4th update with NO fix. Same issue, doesn't work. way to fail. The 2nd and 3rd Update didn't fix it. The app no longer connects. "There was an error connecting to the server. Please check your connection and try again. " Do you even check these updates to see if they work? Not my connection, tower and wifi is great. Wrote this review on it!! App now worthless as it does nothing now.

Don't know why but I constantly have to log back in, and five times now it's forgotten my device existed. Then there's the times when it just can't open the garage door even though it can close it. Now it takes forever to open. every other smart device including the cheap off brand ones work better than this. it should not take over a minute to load and open your garage door. this happens regardless if I am in the house and on a good WiFi signal or outside in the car using LTE. terrible.

This app would be great without all the ads. I just want to be able to use it without ads that are trying to sell me things I will never buy. Inundating an otherwise good app with ads to try and sell more stuff to the people that have your products is distasteful. The functions, scheduling, access sharing of the app are great, just wish the app was simple and streamlined for just that.

Recently the app has become crowded with ads. I already bought the garage door openers. The advertising simply screams "never buy this brand again." Secondly, the app is often very slow to load. If I open it as I leave and my phone is switching from wifi to mobile data, the app will fail to connect to the garage doors, and the only way to proceed is to force the app to close and try again. What I want is for the app to display my garage doors immediately so I can close them without waiting.

If I could give it zero stars, I probably would. It's always searching for some internet, and takes forever to open. my wifi is super fast, and I get good 5g service in my driveway when not on my wifi. We went with MyQ to not have garage door openers in our vehicles (my truck won't fit in the garage). But the time wasted waiting for the app to open or fail find our linked devices is ridiculous.

I purchased 2 garage door openers specifically with the myQ system because my vehicles are outside, I'm disabled and can't hop quickly between a ladder and the "learn" button of an opener, and forbthr Amazon feature. it's cool. WHAT IS NOT COOL are the ads the app has. Okay, maybe the banner ad I can deal with, today there was an ad I had to actively close to get to the door I want to close. C'mon! It was costly to get the openers with installation, now you are wasting time.

worked great on the free trial. now that I've paid for a 1 year subscription, the cameras are missing events that happen all the time. someone rode past my polebarn on a 4wheeler slowly, and there's no video of it. I try and click events in the history section of the app, and they never load. I ended up having to download the event to be able to watch it. Another big complaint is there's no way to set HOME / AWAY modes. you have to turn off/on notifications 1 camera at a time. phone goes nuts.

I've been a user of the MyQ system for a very long time. I guess you could say I'm an early adopter. Years and years ago it worked fantastically. In recent times it has gone downhill significantly. The app has gotten increasingly complicated and the most recent issue I've experienced is the app sometimes takes literally minutes to load and get to a point where you can toggle the garage door. if I wanted to wait minutes I would just go press the button. Chamberlain please bring back the simple ap

I regret my purchase solely because of this awful app and service. They have made the loading screen longer. The ads for more MyQ stuff loads faster than the button to open my garage does. I still can't use it via Google Home, probably so they can continue to show me ads. And to top it off, it often doesn't work. The device is up and on my network. The garage openers still work, it's simply not getting the command from the app servers.

I'd avoid MyQ and their products for the time being, although they seem to be in a marketing push it's clear their apps and infrastructure is not up to par. I haven't been able to login to the app on A15. They don't have any info on the error code and their support staff doesn't reply, tried new accounts, and different Android devices, same issue. It's a shame because they do have some interesting hardware -- great if you can actually use it.

Timestamps are 2 hours off and do not see a way to change it in the app. Everything else I have seems to change to the correct time. I wish there was a way to shut off the camera on the keypad for times when you don't want to record such as when you are working in your driveway and don't want to record several times of yourself working and using up battery needlessly. Also, the night vision needs help and only is useful when you are right up against the keypad.

The MyQ Panel and app are more of an enhanced remote than a reliable security tool. Notifications occur 3-7 minutes after the event (or later), which is not very helpful in responding to the event. Often, when I get a notification, I have to go back and look; was that me from 15 minutes ago or is there someone else in the drive? As a result I probably ignore notifications, which sort of defeats the purpose.

I think the most recent update is causing issues. I have two myQ remote LED lights connected, and they have worked flawlessly for over a year. They turned on when my door is opened, or when the panel detects motion, or when i manually turn them on. They turned off automatically after around 5 minutes. I recently noticed the lights were turning on by themselves. It's not from the door opening, or from motion. I reset the lights and the problem persists. I think it's the app.

Well, it does work OK, but it's way too slow to start. Takes almost 10 seconds on my Pixel 8 Pro with a good internet connection, probably due to the GD ads (which sometimes hide to actual controls). Because of all the ads, I'll never buy one of the products, but I guess that doesn't bother them. Too bad, as the opener is very nice. But I'm only comparing it to old chain-drive openers from Sears, so maybe others are just as good.

5/17/25 update. The app won't open. It just stays on the blue screen with the spinning circle like it's loading, but never goes beyond that. I have not received notifications for the past few weeks. The app is up to date, my internet has not changed, and as far as I can tell it is connected. Please get this mess fixed. The whole reason we bought these openers was for the app capabilities, but this makes it useless at this point. We have no outdoor opener other than the ones in our vehicles.
